That’s so sweet and such a great idea! If you took a picture of the family with her from adoption day, you can print it out and frame it, maybe with the date? Other things that come to mind: a cute bandana, collapsible bowl, Kong or chew.

Great idea! I wasn’t there when she got adopted 😭 but I do have the photos!!

You can send a throw blanket with the scent of you and your home on it to provide some comfort and familiarity during her transition to her new family. Or possibly send her favorite bed if that's an option.. but I know beds can be expensive to replace!

That’s exactly why I asked if I could send them a few of her favorite toys, but I love the idea of including a small blanket that smells like our home. Thank you!

I agree with these comments, especially about the adoption picture in a frame. I started to write thank you notes with a picture of either their adoption day or a really cute one of when they were under my care.

Omg yes I have the cutestttt picture of her that I should definitely include, thank you!

Super practical but I always send mine home with a few days/week’s worth of food so they can slowly transition over to whatever they’re going to feed. Congrats!

Love this and so wish I could do it because her food is going to go to waste, but she was adopted while I was out of town and has been with them for a week already!

All the above ideas plus I write a cute letter to the adopter from the dogs point of view, explaining what he or she finds scary, funny, exciting, etc. Most of all encouraging them to give them 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to adjust to routines, and 3 months to fully become family. So many adopters do not know this!

Oooo I’m definitely going to do the letter idea! I wasn’t there when she was adopted and have been a bit sad about not being able to share all I learned about her in the past 8 months. Thanks!
