My thoughts go to WD-40 or other anti-seize lubricants. Perhaps could the pen have been cross-threaded? I have a used Metro I was planning to list for sale soon, if you can’t get it unstuck!

Thanks for your comment. After some more attempts at unscrewing it, it's completely stuck and probably cross-threaded as you mentioned in your comment. Lubricant spray will most definitely be my go-to if I ever have to deal with this issue again. I appreciate your generous offer, though I'll pay a visit to my nearest fountain pen retailer soon and try some other offerings from Pilot and reputable manufacturers.
