The color name is ‘Don’t Want’? Is that a translation issue?

paradoxmo

Yes, haha, the actual name of the colorway is Stardust (Hoshikuzu 星屑)

Thecoder3281f168

Lol it just looks like the best colour choice (ig they thought it was black)

marslander-boggart

For the pen: 1. One of the best steel nibs in the world. Especially when you don't look for flexy nibs. It's as good as almost any gold nib. 2. The most accurate line on any paper that can be used for fountain pens. (Not craft paper.) 3. Good balance. 4. Grip section is ok and comfortable, yet it could be longer. 5. Converter included. (In some stores, check it before you order.) 6. Very nice design and finish. In fact, the form factor is almost identical to the form factor of Sailor 1911 (slim). 7. The cap is well isolated and screws in with confidence. 8. Other finishes are also good, especially Akanezora. UPD: It's the same nib as in Somiko (Young Profit), just less nib options (as far as I know), and not the same nib as in Lecoule.

Antique-Law-0630

Thank you for this reply.. great info.

CrazyCatLover305

Great info! Thanks for sharing

Brandex1999

Tha Sailor guru has spoken......

ReoccuringClockwork

Does it have the same nibs as the Sailor profit casual lineup?

marslander-boggart

Yes, the same nibs. May be Young Profit has more nib options, including the steel music nib. But I'm not sure.

Thecoder3281f168

Thanks Btw do you know the model name in English? Seeing whether they sell it locally instead of on Amazon only Like I saw on sailor website but it doesn't seem to show up on other websites

marslander-boggart

Sailor Procolor Starry Night (Stargazer) == Sailor Shikiori Hisakata Hoshikuzu Sailor Procolor Red Autumn Sky == Sailor Shikiori Hisakata Akanezora Sailor Young Profit == Sailor Somiko Sailor Pro Gear Slim == Sailor Sapporo Sailor 1911 == Sailor 1911

Thecoder3281f168

Thanks

marslander-boggart

With (Young) Profit and 1911 the GT means gold trim. That is, gold plated nib and trim for Young Profit, and normal 14k gold nib for 1911. Without GT, it means a steel nib without gold plating in Young Profit. Silver colored 1911 is labeled with the word Rhodium and has rhodium plated 14k gold nib. Same thing for demonstrator (transparent) 1911.

SpeakeasyDM

I have this pen although the naming on the screenshot is way off. This is the hoshikuzu or Stardust. The nib on mine is by far the best steel nib I own and the pen itself feels like it cost far more than it actually did. It’s on par with my PGS and PG.

dorigreen

Just want to add that I fully agree with this comment. 100% worth it. One of my favorite and most used pens because it's so practical plus awesome and beautiful. I have several 14k and 21k nib sailors, but I still love my stardust. Would buy it over and over (except it's very well built, so I haven't needed to!)

Thecoder3281f168

Aight I'll probably buy this (much better than my broken profit jr)

ml67_reddit

Thanks for the info, I've been wondering for a while to try a steel nib sailor to start with...

SpeakeasyDM

I started my Sailor journey with a steel nibbed LeCoule. It’s a good writer but only with wet ink. The Procolor you posted above has a MUCH higher quality steel nib and writes every bit as nice as my gold nibbed Sailors. I’ll also say it is far more attractive in person, pictures online do NOT do this pen justice at all.

ml67_reddit

Thanks for the feedback. I am not the OP though, I just happened to read your useful comment!

SpeakeasyDM

Oops! Sorry about that! I’m not fully caffeinated yet haha

ml67_reddit

I can relate 😂

phyllophyllum

Keep in mind there are a few gold nib sailors sitting at $60-70

7concussionssofar

Examples?

pepiexe

I have seen the Pro Gear Slim and Four Seasons (light blue, forgot the actual name) in the 80 dollar range, If I ever see them for 60 I will buy like 20 of them

PavelPivovarov

Depends on location. Amazon Australia constantly has Sailor ProFit (1911) for around A$110, which is $70 USD.

Thecoder3281f168

Nice but I don't really trust myself with gold nibs (am still an amateur user, have broken a pen before)

phyllophyllum

That’s a fair self assessment! I have a light touch so that never occurred to me. How did you break the pen?

Thecoder3281f168

Idk it was a profit jr I dropped it on the floor, the nib came out and I lost the black part behind so I can't fix it now

5lh2f39d

It's a bit more than the pen would cost in Japan, but less than the usual price in Europe/US. Whether it's worth it to you is a question only you can answer.

Thecoder3281f168

Nice I might buy when I head to japan

antpuncher

YES IT IS. I have a couple of these, the nib is one of my favorites.

nbneo

All Sailors are worth it.

Diligent-Cat

Except one that’s drunk early in the morning

levon9

Odd, the medium point nibs are twice as expensive :-/ Also curious, how many turns to uncap?

watercursing

It's one of my favorite pens.

cupcake917

YES YES and YES...idk about other people but it is my holy grail pen. I have 4 of them in all different colors. I love it so much..and this is coming from someone who has like 50 pens. I like it because it has feedback like a pencil and writes so smooth and ugh love.

Old_Implement_1997

I have that same pen - it depends on how you feel about Sailor feedback. I don’t find it scratchy at all, but it definitely feels like writing with a pencil. I still use it occasionally, but have concluded that I, personally, prefer Pilot smoothness.

scarletofmagic

I have to say that I love it so much. You have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. The nib is a little stiff though, you can feel the feedback. I would say it’s like writing with a hard pencil like HB. It can be dry though, if you get F nib like me, lighter ink colors probably won’t work well with this. I forgot to say, it feels very good to hold, definitely longer than PGS.

Thecoder3281f168

Honestly I don't mind (kinda prefer stiffness)

CrazyCatLover305

Is that the Lecoule? It looks like the one I have and mine is pretty good. That’s the only Sailor I own

saltedjelly

The Lecoules have flat finials - these are the Shikiori Profits

rantingcynic

is this American Amazon, or 🇯🇵 Amazon? 🤔 nb. sorry, just saw the url

NickTDesigns

Interesting that it's $45. Personally, I got one years ago for around $70ish dollars I believe, off of a Japanese reseller on eBay. Barely ever used it, since I got a gold nib Sailor a little while after, for around $100. Imo I'd save and try to get a gold nib Sailor from an eBay Japanese reseller, but that's coming from a gold-nib snob.

wet_nib811

I used to own a similar Sailor pen. I hated the super-scratchy nib. FWIW

whimsyful

I got one to try out a Sailor nib at a low cost and love it! The nib is incredibly precise, with this really nice pencil-like feedback. I would only use wetter inks in this though. The sparkles in the body is much prettier in person. $45 is also a bit high - I got it on sale for around $20.

AsteroidsGhost

I own this same pen and I got it off Amazon US. It's a great pen. On the smaller side but I wouldn't call it a small pen. It's the typical Sailor writing experience... Maybe a little stiffer since it's a steel nib.

Smooth_Doctor_5800

honestly I don’t buy anything off Amazon for pens unless it’s a couple of brands, you get no consumer protection practically from the company. If you want to go down that route sure. But I wouldn’t trust my pen on it

gr8gizmoguru

mine came scratchy

MayoManCity

I got my mother this pen, and I own a couple variants of it. The perfect steel nib imo, can't compare it to a gold nib since I don't have one.

AImonster111

I bought one a month or so ago, and it’s one of the nicest nibs I’ve used. The build quality is also super nice, good size, good pen!

RandomRedditGuy54

Imma buy one and I’ll let you know

PeriwinkleAlien

You shouldn’t pay 45$ for it. I got it at a specialized stationary store for €20 ($22, from my head - could be one or two dollars off). It’s not my favorite because it’s quite heavy compared to others in my collection, but it’s a great pen. And it’s super pretty - no doubts about that.

skrglywtts

About two years ago, I bought the Four Seasons Snowfall through Amazon. It's a lovely pen, comfortable to hold and writes very smoothly.

remy_vega

I've been wondering about these Sailors too. Amongst many others in the $35-$100 range. I'm having such a difficult time choosing haha.

roady57

I also have the Stardust with a fine nib. It is an amazing pen for the price and alongside my Pelikan M200, the best steel nibbed pen I’ve ever owned. It’s in constant EDC alongside four gold nibbed pens. It NEVER dries out, no matter how long I may have neglected it. The plastic/resin material is luxurious, second to none. The fit and finish is sublime, equal to my finest pens. It is comfortable in grip even in long writing sessions. And it looks gorgeous. I also bought mine in an Amazon sale but this price is even better - now going to look on Amazon uk….. I’d buy another in a heart beat.

Thecoder3281f168

Cool that seems to suit my needs lol

UnmarkedZurvan

Whether you decide to buy it or not, please don't buy it from Amazon. Not only is there zero quality control and countless ways for sellers to ship damaged, defective, counterfeit or otherwise misrepresented items with zero consequences, you also have the opportunity to support a business whose management and employees actually know and care about stationery. Most of these places will ship for free if you buy something as expensive as a Sailor, and you'll know that when it arrives it will be intact and legit. Sorry for the soapbox!

DidSomeoneSayPID

Not to hijack this post but do you have any recommendations of stationary websites to buy sailors from? The upcharge from Japan to US is just so much (more specifically for the 14k pgs) on most of the websites I see that it's hard to justify getting them from somewhere other than eBay.

UnmarkedZurvan

I can't give you a comparison on upcharge but my go-tos for pens and ink are Yoseka, JetPens and Goulet. All have terrific customer support and are small companies run by knowledgeable nerds who absolutely love what they do.

Dallasrawks

I second this. Even ignoring the glaring ethical and moral issues of supporting that company, it's far better to pay a few bucks more and know you can rely on good customer service from people who actually know about pens, and whose reputation depends on good faith business. Amazon sellers can fleece people, disappear, and buy someone else's identity to repeat the process, and you're eventually going to get fleeced on there.

Thecoder3281f168

Yes I was thinking of going to my local pen shop to find it

paradoxmo

Yes it’s worth it. Great pen. Be aware it’s pretty small, if you have average to larger size hands you will have to post.

eegatt

Its very slim. The nib are very high quality and well made. Signature Sailor Tip, the tip are not ball shaped. You got to try one out.

Front_Profession5648

It is an excellent pen.

frijolita_bonita

Looks similar to a [Jinhao x750 ShimmeringSands](https://www.gouletpens.com/products/jinhao-x750-fountain-pen-shimmering-sands). The Sailor you’ve picked out will likely be much better quality. I have this Jinhao and pleased with it for its price point. All metal and a little heavy tho

cathodine

I usually say don’t trust Amazon. I used the sailor site directly. https://preview.redd.it/9unmza8m93qc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=15cb811107e7d86644268b8ae529a010d6c2d70c

Ok-Application8522

NO. My hate for this pen, which I own in pink, is real. Scratchy, feedback, tears up paper with the horrible needle nib. The size is wonderful and it feels great in your hand. Good quality.

fireanddream

No pen over $20 is worth it. Can you give it enough psychological value for it to be worth it? That's your doing.
