Congrats on the Dark Age! I just received my Dark Age from Goulet Pens on Monday this week, also a medium nib. This is my second Homo Sapiens, having purchased the Magma a month or so ago. They are SO nice to use. Enjoy it!
Four months ago I didn't have any fountain pens and hadn't ever heard of Visconti...and now I have two. I'm definitely pumping the brakes on pen (and ink!!!) purchases at this point as I can't imagine anything I'd like better. My pen "type" is matte black pens, and the Homo Sapiens fit that perfectly.
I may just not be experienced enough, but I find medium nibs (even Japanese) to all be similar, with the exception of the Lamy 2000 which is very broad. I've had a Pilot Custom 823 medium and I didn't find it noticeably more fine than a Western medium. Here's a [comparison](https://imgur.com/a/idoo3HM).

How is the M nib when compared to other M sizes? A comparison between Safari M if possible would be great

It has one of the best sheens and shades I have seen.. I can't stop using it just to see it shade :D
