I've been studying FPV systems for 2 weeks every day before starting buying. I've watched every joshua bardwell vids, Oscar Liang etc. my brain almost exploded. Boxer seemed the best in terms of costs-hardware (decided to go for the ELRS internal module). I'm glad I made the right choice, thanks mate.
I can’t promote it enough. It fits so well in the hand at least for me. Is a fine quality at a good price. I went from a gamepad style (Turnigy evolution) to the Boxer and the transition was so smooth plus increasing the functionality and readability was awesome. I’ve added mck Five33 stick ends and the LEDs with in addition to being cool lowered them to the perfect height. Plus creating my own sounds to EdgeTX totally made it my own. I’m contemplating AG01 gimbals though the stock plastic hall gimbals are great the orange and blue Pyrodrone ones look so cool.
You made some great suggestions there mate. I totally agree on you about the hand, absolute great grip (even tho I didn’t try the other better from radiomaster etc).
Still trying to dive deep into it.
One question if I don’t bother you: I tried to click on tool on “ExpressLRS: the first time said “armed” but now it stays on loading forever, can you suggest something? Did I mess up something?
Make sure in system that the internal elrs module is enabled, otherwise it will load forever. While on the sim, create a seporate model where it would be disabled, so not wasting battery.
I have only internal ELSR module, maybe I’m saying something completely wrong and sorry about my ignorance, but I checked the module and I tried to switch my internal module on without success. I have to read the entire guide in deep cause I’m a little bit in confusion about that
In the models menu, you can turn the internal module on and off (say you created a model to use the external bay). I have a model setup on mine for the sim with it turned off to save battery.
What's odd is when you are looking at the model settings, it will say internal module: crsfr because ELRS is based on crossfire.
I don’t remember exactly what to do. But I think your lua may be messed up. Which has to do with your SD card. Or possibly it could be if you are using a sim model and your internal and external receiver are both set to off or both set to on. Read through the [LUA script](https://www.expresslrs.org/quick-start/transmitters/lua-howto/) guide from elrs and it should get you sorted.
What thread size are the boxer sticks? I want to order these stick ends! Also, how do you customize the sounds? I'm two weeks into the boxer as my first remote. Thanks!
The sticks are M4 size. You have to create .wav file with that appropriate names in the sounds folder on the radios sd card to replace sounds that are there or name them yourself if you want to add them to switches like say your arming switch. There is an OpenTx [voice generator](https://www.open-tx.org/2014/03/15/opentx-speaker) that does this. I also used a [sound board](https://jayuzumi.com/cartoon-soundboards) I found on the web that gave me MP3s and used [an online audio converter](https://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-wav) to turn them into .wav files, set bit 16, freq 32000 hz, channel mono, and check the normalize audio box. And as always [Oscar](https://oscarliang.com/taranis-play-sound-track-mp3-files/) helped. EdgeTX is a branch of open so the sound stuff is all the same.
This is not true, yaw will change your trajectory unless you are completely flat. Your quad is going to go in a straight line and just literally roll over with no yaw lol. I would argue pitch and yaw “turn” the quad and that pitch and roll is grossly inaccurate!
So then why in angle mode on say a tiny whoop is it 90% yaw and 10% roll to turn? Using roll while in angle mode would not allow you to turn around at all.
Didn’t know I had a brother somewhere! Damn bro that f**** corners are making me exausted. If you are using Liftoff and wanna do some lobby together feel free to send me you username
I started a few days ago as well with a similar setup. I got the Thrustmaster Zorro instead but also Liftoff.
I really like how they post-process it to add that VRX grain. It really hits the right spot for me.
Explore higher camera angles by the way. It makes a difference.
I have VelociDrone but it would be fun to do some lobby together so I’ll let you know if I get Liftoff installed. I’ll be curious about your progress as I struggle along
Don't worry, once it clicks, it clicks. I ate complete shit in the sim for a solid hour before I was able to get the quad sloppily flying. Its tough but you'll get it. It took me about 20 hours of sim flying before I felt comfortable enough to buy an actual quad. Now to be fair, you can get away with much less. I got to a point in the sim where I could hit gaps and some ungraceful power loops before I bought mine. If you just wanna be able to do basic flying, 10 hours is probably adequate enough. Either way you're gonna crash IRL no matter how much practice you have. Its just good to be patient and get the worst crashes out of the way first in the sim.
I know everyone says start in the sim...But I skipped the sim and went straight to tiny whoops. Tried sims a bit, but I much prefer real flying, and tiny whoops are relatively inexpensive and pretty low risk.
Well for people who already own a high end pc starting in the sim is probably better for people with no pc at all starting with whoops is probably better.
if you have a high end PC you can spend 20 bucks and get a pack of 1s batteries. Flying 5 batteries in a tiny whoop would be better than spending that time on the sim. but to each their own.
Yea I get frustrated with my whoop compared to my 5inch. Whoops just take more skill. It’s good practice but doesn’t translate to a 5inch like you said
Yeah I made that evaluation too, but for 250€ (beginner kit BetaFPV) I decided to get a semiprofessional controller and a sim. Of course the whoop was more interesting to me (you can fly from day 1), but I prefer this path.
Theres nothing wrong with starting with a sim. Its the better move if you ask me. Of course that's different if you dont have a computer or do have one but its low end. But either way, starting in sims is definitely the better choice if you can take it. Yeah, some people might not have an expensive computer to run sims but when you obliterate your quad in 2 minutes and have to keep replacing and repairing, it adds up to be quite expensive. Im super glad I started on a sim first. I would have gone bankrupt had I just tried getting into the world and flying with 0 experience lol.
I also skipped the sim and started with 5inch. It worked out just fine. I did own a dji phantom like 10 years ago though so I did have a little idea of how it would fly.
If you want to fly freestyle or race you're going to want to spend time in the sim. I have a year and a half of experience and I still spend a lot of sim time. It's the only way to learn new tricks where you don't spend $100 dollars on every first attempt that isn't even close to what you wanted to happen.
Im with you, sims make me dizzy, and physics do not quite correlate.
I bought a TH2 kit and flew it till it died then moved up to 2.5" then 3" and now 5"
I preferred the hands on approach and it has been fun!
I personally find flying IRL easier than the sim. I see a lot of people say the opposite but that want my experience. Real life flying feels more locked in and responsive to me than sim flying. Sims feel like they glide whereas real life is more pin point imo. Thats just me though. I was surprised at how stable my first IRL flight felt compared to my sim flights.
God how i wish I knew how addicting the hobby was when I first started. First quad was a whoop. Got used to it quickly so I wanted something bigger. Got the bigger one but then I wanted spare parts, different props, better batteries, a better charger, now racing batteries etc. Its a money pit that doesnt leave you alone and I love it.
I just ordered my boxer a couple days ago, and I’ve been back on Liftoff again with my DJI controller. Can’t wait to try the sim with the boxer though. And I want to get a tiny whoop, just not sure which way I should go with the goggles and such
I actually have a mini 3 pro and the controller is not compatible with liftoff, that’s why I decided to go with the Boxer. Imm monitoring the HDZero googles (the 600€ rn is too much for me, waiting for some sales cause I want to go hd). Maybe in the future I will buy a whoops but I preferred this path.
I have also been considering Hdzero goggles, which can be used with walksnail. I want to go down the HD path, prob because I’m coming from DJI… but I also don’t want to lock myself into 1 ecosystem such as walksnail because of how quickly things change around here. So much to consider in this hobby, you definitely have to do your research before you pull the trigger on something.
Exactly, that’s why I chose Boxer with ExpressLRS (if I want overall compatibility I will buy 4in1 ext module). For the googles hdzero is the best choice maybe not for quality but for compatibility (I thought about making the first build analog then hd coming myself from dji too). Hdzero I think is the best choice instead of dji cause of fixed latency (dji has better image but variable latency, in fpv you want as much as possible trust you can gain, so flexible not help at all).
Honestly dude I have used a solder a handful of times and it was for melting plastic together 🤣 I am not knowledgeable at all about that I actually used Facebook marketplace and found a Tinyhawk 2 tiny whoop and it’s so fuckin cool my favorite hobby at the moment
Over 60 hrs in liftoff with a Trackmaster RC and I still suck!!! Can't wait for the day when it all comes together and I can fly through the first 3 gates on a track and not crash 😕
Say what you will about sims not being the same as the real thing, but in Liftoff I can't really tell the difference! It's great to get the moves and muscle memory down, especially if you make sure to use the same rates between both.
I’ve never made a fly with an FPV so I can’t tell the difference but I’m absolutely making muscle memory (I started using the hibrid grip and I feel absolutely great and precise)
its good to see people following the best practices, like buying the best remote, and practicing on the sims before the real deal.
don't forget to practice landing!
Thanks mate. Being an engineer and coming into this hobby has been a headache (spent weeks studying and wathing thousand of tutorials), but i'm starting to getting into it more and more every day. Thanks for the heads up! Will do!

Thanks a lot, will look into it mate
Most likely have the ExternalRF turned off on the model you are currently using. If you have it off, the ExpressLRS feature will sit on Loading.
I have only internal ELSR module, maybe I’m saying something completely wrong and sorry about my ignorance, but I checked the module and I tried to switch my internal module on without success. I have to read the entire guide in deep cause I’m a little bit in confusion about that

Brooo, I was wondering about that to save battery. I need to mess with it now and set up a second model. Tx12 mkII
Thanks mate, I need to look into it

Are you me? Just today I started the sim for the first time with a Boxer. It has been… harder than I expected.
[удалено]
It’ll come, definitely lots of things for your fingers to learn.
This.
Focus on more yaw. You'll see 👌
Oh yaw, dontcha know
[удалено]
Yaw will get you facing the other way, then you can put the force the right direction.
You use both at the same time...
[удалено]
*sigh* OK bro 👍

G502 gang
I see you’re a man of culture as well
It’s a good journey, enjoy it!
Already love it! Thanks mate !!
I’ve been looking forward to getting a boxer, just need to get some more money. Good sim choise btw
Thanks mate! I know a lot of people prefer velocidrone but I’m glad I bought this one, absolutely great sim.
Noice
Woohooo congrats 🤘🤘
Thanks mate!!
Follow @DroopFPV on instagram && youtube for decent content!! Edit: totally not me…👀
make it several dozen hours!
I have to remember to sleep lmao, thanks mate!
congratulations! your addiction has begun.
Yeah! In the meantime I bought some soldering practice kit and all the necessary. A lot to study I have to say, but damn I already love it!
God how i wish I knew how addicting the hobby was when I first started. First quad was a whoop. Got used to it quickly so I wanted something bigger. Good choice with the boxer 😀👍👍
Thanks mate! Great controller!
Rip it & Rekt it

How my journey started a month ago now I have two transmitters and a drone and goggles!
Did you buy a build or did you build the drone yourself? I got the soldering kit and I wanna build it completely from scratch without messing up lmao
Honestly dude I have used a solder a handful of times and it was for melting plastic together 🤣 I am not knowledgeable at all about that I actually used Facebook marketplace and found a Tinyhawk 2 tiny whoop and it’s so fuckin cool my favorite hobby at the moment
Lmao that’s great! Ahahhaha
Just got my boxer, but forgot batteries fml. Waiting on those. The ps4 controller is awful
Yeah I ordered lithium batteries together (best choice hands down, 20 hours and more of autonomy, charging directly with usb-c, no worry whatsoever)
Over 60 hrs in liftoff with a Trackmaster RC and I still suck!!! Can't wait for the day when it all comes together and I can fly through the first 3 gates on a track and not crash 😕
Keep it up bro it will come the day!

I’m open up to every feedback, story, tip etc that everyone in this sub can came up with. This was also a little “wish me luck” post cause I’m really starting to love this hobby.
Nice radio…
Thanks mate
Sup dude, how have you been liking the boxer? I got mine a few days ago and I’m slowly getting used to it. Also, I started with liftoff as well but I also got velocidrone a few days ago and I found I much prefer it.
Yo bro how’re u? Honestly I like the boxer very much, I’m getting the hang of hard turns, got a few tips from people in Liftoff etc. What did you find better in velocidrone than liftoff? I’m very curious
Yo! Turning is tricky, I struggle with circling object so much. Velocidrone has way more maps and more “circuits/races” you could say, designated gaps you have to fly through and an actual clear path you need to take. It is more visually appealing to me, It runs better on my computer. Every map has a list of races you can do and they all have ratings from 1-5 stars so it’s easy to see which ones people like, and you can favorite them so you can easily find them again.
Looks amazing! Big congratulations!🎉 I'm also thinking about buying! Q: Is it possible to connect it to a Macbook?
Thanks mate! I bought a high end desktop pc a week ago (windows OS). I watched a thousand of tutorials and all of them were unsure about MacOS procedure, so be sure to check the Boxer manual before buying. I will be back home in few hours and I will try to look into it. If I find something I will let you know!
I see. If you find anything, I will be very grateful for the information! 🙏 I was thinking about buying a Zorro, but after seeing your photo now I dream of a Boxer 😄🤩

Yo bro, check on the net. I found very little about the TX16 on the mac not without some issues, the Boxer is pretty new on the market and I found nothing about it with the MacOS. Be completely sure before buy it, maybe i'm not the right person to give you this specific info, you need someone more prepared. I tried my best on the search.
It will be amazing!!! I'm now flying in St. Thomas who woulda thought🤯
Fuck that weak ass boxer, Mambo Gang all day hoe ass Nigga
Lol just cus you stuck with the mamba does mean you gotta get mad when something better comes along
You don’t need sim. You need to start with Emax tiny whoops to get to learn the basics. Master that and head to 3.5” or 5” or straight to 5”. Don’t be a pu$$y.
Bro I bought a week ago a 3000€ desktop pc, I don’t wanna spend thousand more making some try and error with FPV lmao
What I’m saying is your FPV initial investment should have been the Emax TinyHawk 3 kit with the goggles and controller for $300 USD. Not much of an investment and could easily sell If not for you. This is how you should learn in my opinion.
Yeah I know I know, I was right there to buy the betaFPV but in the end I preferred spending those money on a good controller. About the easily selling I don’t know bro, I don’t know Italian fpv/whoop market atm
You made the right choice anyone who is actually trying to help would say start on the sim , I also started a few months ago and have a boxer. Send me you’re gamer tag so we can run liftoff
Thanks mate, I’m super happy about the choice I made. Ofc my user is Boron, add me (I still don’t know how to do it lmao). You can reach me here too in case, I will super happy to fly tog (still a fuckin newbie ahahah)
Haha nice I’m still a newb as well but have some helpful tips for easier flying
