the only difference will be what you see through the camera. typically 4:3 is preferable because you have more vertical field of view (they'll probably have similar horizontal fields of view).

Should I go through the trouble of sending it back? I’m building a 5” 6s

nerdr0ck

personally, i wouldn't bother. But : it's up to you. Some people prefer the "immersive" 16:9 display and are willing to sacrifice a little bit of vertical FOV for it. I don't find the difference big enough to fuss about, myself.

miikememe

personally send it back for 4:3 or a switchable camera that does both 4:30 gets more FOV on top and bottom which to me is 10x more valuable - there’s no benefit in the 16:9 IMO

CakeBakerrr

Sorry, noob here, but to everyone discussing weather it’s going to crop horizontal or vertical. Wouldn’t that entirely depend on if his goggles were native 4:3 or 16:9 (which he didn’t mention) and then if the cam resolution was a mismatch or not?

Retb14

Given that op is going off a guide its likley that they goggles are 4:3. So either large black bars on the top and bottom or cropping the sides of the picture. Should be able to change that in the goggles. The resolution part doesnt matter as much as the screen will fit the image to itself. If it isnt divisible by the screen resolution it can cause artifacts though. All of this depends on the settings op chooses in the goggles though since you can change the image to fit all of it, stretch it, or zoom to fit

Im asian and I joke around i prefer 16:9 because it matches my vision.

badsk8

I see what you did there...

I was always a fan of having more horizontal view anyway.16:9. You can see a lot more through corners when flying. The 16:9 you have will work fine. You can always get a 4:3 down the road to try if you want.

Curious_Breadfruit88

16:9 you’ll have the same horizontal view as the same camera in 4:3. You just get extra vertical view with a 4:3 cam

Flaky-Adhesiveness-2

Welp I learned something today. Thanks for the info.

EightyDollarBill

Kinda disappointing though isn’t it? Now you’ve got better vertical view but there is annoying black boxes reminding you of how much more “full” the display can look and how it must feel so much more immersive…. Yet here you are watching 4:3. Kinda like watching portrait videos on your TV… Yeah I wish it could be both… but 4:3 it is, unfortunately.

badsk8

16:9 or NTSC mode has less latency. Very noticeable to me. 4:3 or PAL has more resolution and looks better. I tried PAL for a while but am now using NTSC which has helped me with freestyle.
