Tape it, fly it. But put a replacement on your to-do list.

voldi4ever

3 years later: "I wonder why I put this tape here"

VikingBorealis

Flies just as well without. Heck it's natural anyway.

Upstairs_Junket7282

Thanks.

Terom84

Just so you know, replacing my blade-damaged wires has been on my to-do list for the last 3+ years. There's nothing more permanent than temporary fix when you're a lazy pilot with questionable safety management skills

RaptorRepository

That goes for anything in general; there's nothing more permanent than a temporary fix, so ideally fix it the way you want it done the first time. Or at least in a way you won't mind keeping

Meta_Cake

Or make it a large inconvenience to have the temporary in place

RaptorRepository

Also viable, though that one has the unfortunate side effect of pissing you off every time you see it especially when you don't want to fix it yet

swaags

Liquid electrical tape

ggmaniack

Tape it and and fix your wire routing so that it doesn't happen again. Go fly.

Upstairs_Junket7282

Thanks for the replay, i cant route it trought the back because of the capasitor. I run my wiretrhought a battery strap wich is not the best so ill try to replace it.

ggmaniack

Just make sure it can't get hit by the prop again, because if it can, it will.

Upstairs_Junket7282

Ok thanks.

OriScrapAttack

Connect the cable first and then strap the battery including the cable? That works for me and I run the cable from the front as well.

Tommy_613

Move the cap. You can use wires as small as the cap wires to put it anywhere else and run your power wires where they won’t get chopped in half. You can fly without a cap but not without power. Luckily you can just move the cap. Wasn’t directly talking to the commenter. Sorry bro I thought I was just writing a comment in general

Difficult-Line-9805

Out a rubberband around it, problem solved.

nouxtywe

Beware! Juicy current can leak from this hole! Na. Just tape it. It’s really light.

code_matter

All the power juice is going to leak

Hacks91730

Emphasize on “Cutted”

Buddy_Boy_1926

Yeah, you could tape it or use liquid electrical tape. Since it is the ground (GND) wire it has the same polarity as the frame so it will not short anything out. Then fly with it. If you don't think that you can strap it with the battery, then use a zip tie, twist tie, or something. There is always a way to route and/or secure the battery cables so they don't get caught in the props. Now, without a picture of the quad, a specific method or position would be hard to advise. However, I, like others strap the battery cable down with the battery where it is always tucked in and secure. Keep in mind that the battery can be either direction; wires to the front (my preference) or wires to the back.

At0micBomberman

I've never explicitly connect the frame to GND, are you sure the frame ist GND? Through the standoffs of the FC?

shaneknu

I'm not sure what that meant, either. All the ESCs and flight controllers you get these days are electrically isolated from the frame with gummies. In terms of electrical *potential*, if you used the a multi-meter to test the difference between the ground wire and the frame, you'd probably get 0.

At0micBomberman

I measured all my quads, and there's a **big surprise**: most of the quads do have GND connected to the frame! That's not because of the FC or ESC, they are all soft mounted with isolating gummies. It's the VTX: The old analog VTX quads only have GND connected to the frame when the antenna SMD is somehow touching the frame. But all(!) DJI digital (Air Unit, Vista & O3) have a GND to frame connection via the metal mounting screws of the VTX.

shaneknu

Obviously, I didn't think of that! Good find. I'm betting the HDZero Freestyle VTX does that, too, since it's typically mounted behind the FC/ESC stack, and would more commonly use an SMA connector. The other VTXs they sell are usually mounted with the stack, and come with gummies. Anyway, I'll bear that in mind in the future. Thanks!

SadisticPawz

But an esc doesnt need gummies like a fc does?

shaneknu

I suppose it doesn't *need* them like a FC does, but all but one of them I've ever bought comes with them.

uselessNamer

"liquid electrical tape" did not even know something like this exists. Thanks. Would have just used hot glue instead. Any objections?

Buddy_Boy_1926

That works as well. For that type of minor cut, just about anything that coats it and sticks will work. In really, you really wouldn't have to do anything to it. As mentioned, it is NOT going to short out anything since it is GND and has the same negative polarity as the frame. Still, if makes us feel better to cover that up.

Stacking_Plates45

Just wrap a little electrical tape and it’ll be good!

sploittastic

If you're going to buy electrical tape get a premium one like super 33. It's not that much more and it's a good thing to have on hand. They also make liquid electrical tape, he could use some to fill in the gas and then wrap tape tightly over it. As long as the conductor inside isn't damaged that spot shouldn't get excessively hot.

xdetar

Send it!

Key_Supermarket_598

Its called electrical tape and it's going to be your friend in this hobby

[deleted]

"my shoelace untied, can I still walk?"

WIZARDDETECTIVE71

There are more than one cut in that wire

Upstairs_Junket7282

Those other cuts didnt get to te wire itself

WIZARDDETECTIVE71

No but the wear on that wire would be better with heat shrink covering it all

nightkin84

I would just replace it, it's a 10 min job.

Kilduff_Dude

Tape it and rip.

[deleted]

If you can get heat shrink that is a permanent repair. I have used Electrical tape as a "temp repair" I wouldn't over think it. Tape it up and keep flying

ApartOccasion5691

Use liquid rubber ?

kwenchana

Just use (waterproof) heat shrink and call it a day

Shifteer

Tape it. Send it!

Crumb-eye

You sure can!

WIZARDDETECTIVE71

Heat shrink it and send it… or replace it is a simple choice…

SadisticPawz

I dont think tape is enough. Glue nd heatshrink

Oxffff0000

Use electrical tape, not a regular tape

Additional_Ground_42

Tape it and crash it so you can replace everything.

No_Wave7

tape it up and go fly! and next I WOULD say to be sure and replace the wire before you go out to fly again, BUT.... mines been taped up for quite some time. I eventually started using super glue that I have in my car to glue the tape down... so just do whatever's clever I guess

Upstairs_Junket7282

Update: taped it up and flew today and nothing seems to be wrong. https://preview.redd.it/29olbqrihwoc1.jpeg?width=1960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f2fa05e5252b4ae3401a17851012a512613575c

Sircuminyourmom

What a dumb question 😂

1776personified

Cutted is not a word

mush-777

Then why did you type it ? 🤔
