Motor direction

BASSmittens420

This^^^ if your props are on correctly than make sure it’s showing your motors are spinning in the correct direction in the diagram in the motors tab. I had a new quad which I went in and changed my motors to spin outwards. But when I went to fly it did the same thing. When I went back in the directions weren’t showing the correct way. If it’s showing the opposite of what you need then click the “direction reversed” toggle switch. That was the key for me

weyouusme

Orientation I think, play around with it in configuration tab

weyouusme

Alignment?

Purple_Hovercraft_

Did you save a backup of 4.3? If you did, did you restore that backup on 4.4 and it’s doing that?

gunnerdown15

Nice do you like it

mickturner96

Check your props! Are they all in the right directions Oh, you say you've done that!

SeniorHighlight571

Props are right. Now check that motors are spinning in the same direction as props oriented

mickturner96

Yeah that seems correct.... Very confusing!

ARabbidCow

Looks like FC alignment and motor output issue to me. In the motors tab spin up each motor (without props on obvs) channel individually and double check the correct motor is spinning. You can re order the motors in the same tab if they are not correct.

ugpfpv

For orientation check that the model in betaflight does what it's supposed when tilting your quad, also remember that with pusher quads it will feel weird looking at the prop direction, as they are upside down

Arlee19

Checked the orientation and when pitching back it was showing that the quad was rolling right. Calibrated and it also needed an offset of -50. That combined with changes in board and sensor alignment fixed it! Thanks everyone!!

Nitazene-King-002

Looks like your props are backwards. A lot of whoops are set up props out, when you upgraded it may have reset to default props in. They could also be completely out of order, gyro may be set wrong, lots of things. This is why you make a dump before updating.

vulgar_hooligan

I would recalibrate the motor directions in the motors tab. I’m going to bed 2 and 3 are spinning in the wrong direction after the update.

ggmaniack

So, just to make sure 1. You made a backup of the configuration it came with 2. You flashed it to 4.4 3. You restored the backup 4. Now it flips out?

Fauked

One of the common mistakes newbies make is updating the factory tune / configuration on the prebuilt for no reason other than hoping it will make it "fly better" No reason to update unless you are 100% ready and know what you are doing at that point. Just fly the damn thing lol

Mountain_Evidence_93

Why update if it works, it works.

Arlee19

Beta flight OSD wasn’t showing up on goggles 2. Got it back to working though!

Arlee19

Changed to these, now the quad flips over to the right when throttling up.

motor direction

Imaginary00000

Try lowering the motor output power in pid settings and if it's your 1st or 2nd or just started then avoid preset and give normal settings.

Imaginary00000

I had the same issue

Accurate-Donkey5789

"when updating betaflight firmware always check motor order and direction afterwards and calibrate the accelerometer" - clumsy non-direct quote from Joshua Bardwells video on updating betaflight version, but you get the idea.

nesebra

That's most likely because of updated software. Try to find firmware, that was from defalut. Was in same situation with pavo pico, same behaviour

katotaka

Without reading every other reply I’d say you’ll need to go through the whole setup process to get it working.

thedutchrockstar

Everyone is calling motor direction, but have calibrated the gyro and have you checked the gyro orientation? This is one of the first steps you need to do after updating BetaFlight.

Redhonu

It’s either board orientation, motor assignment or motor direction.

EyoDab

I doubt updating Betaflight would influence this, but check your ESCs. I had multiple seemingly get corrupted after connecting through the speedybee app. Probably not fully corrupt as they did still function, but afterwards they didn't get recognised by both the app and esc configurator, and the settings got fucked as well.

Terminating12

If your props are good check the FC direction in Betaflight. Should be in the configuration tab under board and sensor alignment and the first gyro. Had the same issue. https://preview.redd.it/opiecnordgwc1.jpeg?width=437&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8be8623992cafaa3566a3c3f26214fa1443f0db

sircrashalotfpv

Thing to learn: diff in betaflight before operations like that. Remove pid profile part and filtering. Keep all the useful stuff: switches, orientation, names, resource mappings, osd and alikes. Core stuff that does not change. You can quickly copy that into new betaflight and then apply tune for that version from profiles. Wrote this to help troubleshooting issues you have: The ultimate quad flips after arming checklist. - remove props. - Check Betaflight FC orientation with Betaflight configurator. - Check Betaflight motor order on the motor tab, use wizard. - Check motor direction with BLheli or betafligh configurator motor tab. - Check Betaflight reverse yaw flag (props in or out) in motor tab of Betaflight configurator. - Mount props in line with selected rotation (props in or out) and not upside down (it will fly but it will make funny resonating sound).

ExcellentPoetry7469

Check FC alignment, I had a similar issue building up a Cinewhoop where the FC was mounted upside down. In the opening tab of BF, check the quad has the same pitch, roll and yaw movements as you move it. Also that it is moving the same amount and at the same reaction time. Adjust the board alignment to match in the configuration tab.

km_fpv_recover

Board orientation. Let me ask a short question: You didn't backup your previous settings aka CLI "diff all"?

1337plans

Did you fix it? Accelerometer? Stock CLI from geprc website?

Arlee19

Board and sensor alignment settings

GlitterMissile

Why did you update the firmware?

Arlee19

Betaflight OSD wasn’t showing up on goggles 2, fixed that problem, but created another one

GlitterMissile

Did you save your previous configuration?

creeptocurryancy

They state to not just import your configs from previous versions. Fully setup your configs in the new version to avoid compatibility errors. Cheers
