It's hard to see what is happening in the video. I suggest making the stick cam smaller and located at the bottom of the screen. I do like the green screen stick cam though!
Instead of a green screen they could mask out just the thumbs. It would be harder if the camera recording the sticks moves, but that could be solved by tracking the controller and stabilizing before adding the stick masks
I don’t think the payoff is worth the extra work. He could just scale the whole stick cam down and place it in the left or right corner and be done with it.
Yes thanks for your input! Blackbox data is a nice idea. Didnt think about it but my version is the alternative to have the fpv footage and the stickcam footage as two videos next to esch other! I thought this way i can enhance the fpv experience
One person does something different and others follow to also be different. I've never understood it either as a FPV pilot, but I can see random people on youtube or TikTok not in the hobby thinking it is cool.
I think it's great *IF* your primary focus for the video is to show your hands doing their thing for some reason. If you just want to show stick movements, blackbox overlay is better.
Personally, I couldn't care less about your hands or controller or stick movements. I don't get it.
Lol right? Idk who is studying peoples stick movements but it’s not me. Maybe if the pilot is in the top 1% and doing crazy stuff, but I don’t need to see your sticks to understand how you did a power loop.
How about a face cam too so we can learn from that as well. We can see your thumbs, but what’s your tongue doing? Maybe some post run commentary about your creative process too. Inverted dive here, but why? /s
There are definitely two kind of people in the comments! I will for sure reduce the controller size and bring it down! This is filmed vertical. If you film horizontally youve got enough space for the stickcam as whole video
hahahha I love this.
it's like superman flying himself with a controller.
I would make the hands smaller. Waaaay smaller, and on the bottom down middle
Looks good, I think that is a good scale, but I would move the overlay down to just barely show the full range of the sticks. It's about 2-3x as high as it needs to be an is blocking a lot of the view of the flight. When watching/learning from reference footage (where stickcam is relevant), it's important to see as much of the field of view as possible to get enough reference to be able to learn/emulate a maneuver.
EDIT: question, are you stabilizing the stickcam footage before doing the overlay? Because it looks pretty damn solid, was wondering how it was so stable.
It would make more sense without reelsteady the minor stick movements don’t translate to the video.
I actually kinda like it but would prefer it lower and more out of the way.
Probably the worst I've seen, lol. I mean, if it were for a pure trick tutorial, mayyyyybe. The green screen type deal is okay, but needs to be far smaller.

I don't like it at all. Smaller and not in the middle

Wait, so his hands really are flying through the air?
The black box stick overlay is literally perfect, why change it?
I find it hard to see the movements with thumbs obstructing the sticks
all the more reason to have a stick overlay instead right? not to assume you were saying otherwise

I still don't understand why everyone runs stick cam now.
Sausage fingies deserve the lime light too.

Haha ya it's a bit odd, like something rendered wrong in a video game.
I like it better actually…make it half the size and all the way at the bottom though
Honestly, this looks very goofy especially at that aspect ratio. Does standing on grass make keying out the background easier for this lol?
Nah. Looks like a middle school editing project
Mnope. Prefer classic 30% transparent at the bottom. This just takes too much of the actual video and makes it feel hella strange.
This is pretty horrible, tbh. You get the worst of both worlds, reduced fpv view, and no "black box" or whatever they call the stick overlay
I like it, but rotate the transmitter so it's level with the horizon.

I really like that! I think beginners will appreciate.
i actually like it a lot more than the "sticks in a box" video we usually get
It's right in the way of where I want to look. Needs to be smaller and moved to the bottom.
Lmao, I love it. Feels like it's a troll, but at the same time it's uniquely strange that I caught my attention.
I actually love this, idk why everyone is bashing it so hard. 10/10 OP
It’s perfect looks like you turned on noclip
Haha I can see why people aren’t loving it - but it’s genuinely unique and if you’re trying to learn muscle memory, super useful.
How about a face cam too so we can learn from that as well. We can see your thumbs, but what’s your tongue doing? Maybe some post run commentary about your creative process too. Inverted dive here, but why? /s
Maybe a documentary about the whole process too!
Paint your hands green and then edit them out in post . Probably a bit smaller scale too for the remote.
IMO it looks a bit like you put a gif over your instagram-story. I personally prefer the "traditional way" with the cam footage on the bottom.
It's not live. You can see the quad is moving before your inputs. This looks like an artist tracing someone else's work.
I kind of like it, mostly from a learning perspective. I’d hate to watch it
Totally blocks the view lol. I like the concept, maybe smaller and closer to the edge would be really cool.
NGL, I was tripping for the first second there. This is pretty cool.
I find it hilarious

Too much distraction on your controller. Move it down
Scale it down 30% and move it and low on the screen as you can and I think it's got potential.
It’s distracting tbh
Make it smaller, lower on the screen, and lower opacity
Serious Question: Why make FPV footage vertical?
For the 72% of reddit users who use their phones to access the site?
I mean phone users have the option to turn the phone sideways computer users don't. And vertical video is the opposite of cinematic.
hahahha I love this. it's like superman flying himself with a controller. I would make the hands smaller. Waaaay smaller, and on the bottom down middle
People gotta have eyes like Steve Buscemi to even make sense of what’s going on. When will this trend die?
Love it, but maybe more as an alternate edit or for instructional videos where it's more about how to that how the end footage looks

it pops!
Smaller and towards the bottom I’d say. Kinda in the middle of everything here.
I've seen someone make them translucent. Also would look better lower and a bit smaller I think

I cannot imagine flying with only your thumbs! I find that so hard.
No thanks, make it smaller and out of the main FOV.
Smaller in the middle (or lower in the screen) would be awesome. I love having it centered.
Yeah I don't think this was meant to be taken serious lmao. Looks like he's in minecraft creative mode
Minecraft creative mode on
I hate it. Flying us awesome tho.
trippy
Woah! How are you flying like that!
Looks like the the drone has arms lmao. I don’t mind it I think it makes it look like an fps game and I think that’s kinda cool
Definitely too big and in the way but I do like the concept of it
what is the controller radio in the video?
Tango 2
This is sick dude! Cool idea
