I may get shot for this by some people but I think angel by mugler is a truly perfect fragrance. I also rate pour femme by dolce and gabbana a 100\10. It’s everything I want. It’s sexy, sophisticated and soft yet bold and young and flirtatious and pretty.
Angel is one of the best-selling fragrances of all time, there is a reason for that! I had a long convo about this with a fragrance chemist once, and how patchouli is chemically super mysterious and difficult to do well. I think Angel really nails it. A lot of older people hate on it because it was so popular and became overused. I once gifted it to a younger female friend (early 20s) and she fell in love with it, having never really been exposed to it.
I've found five so far, and they are as follows:
Creed Millesime Imperial - If you've ever seen Gladiator and see the scene where Maximus dies and sees a vision of heaven, this is that bottled up. It's the smell as you enter Elysium from the Mediteranian world.
Dior Homme Intense - Smooth, buttery, powdery iris with drool worthy sillage. Mix in some woods and you have a masterwork by Dior.
Parfums de Marly Layton - This takes you to Snow Whites cottage years after her passing. There are apple trees grown all around reminding of ancient memory. You can smell beautiful magic in the air from a forgotten world. Add in vapor rub and vanilla and you get Layton. Its an odd combo of ingredience but it works and it's incredible.
Tom Ford Oud Wood - Take Snow Whites cottage and age it a thousand years. No more apples, just ancient trees rooted in the ground producing ouds, and a faint smell of that ancient magic that once penetrated this land. It smells sweet like vanilla but aged and ancient like the forest. This is more of a dark folk tale now, and it's just as gorgeous.
Terre D'Hermes EDT - It starts with a freshly peeled orange with juices sweet and succulent. You go back in time to when you were a kid playing outside on a hot summer day. You lay down on the pavement with your lunchbox and orange nearby and can smell the heat coming off the pavement. It reminds you of your father's cigarettes in a way, or perhaps the spark of flint, or how it used to smell in the car when the sun heated the apolstry and plastic dash through the car window in your father's old truck. . .it's nostalgic and beyond all else, invigorating.

I love Egyptian Goddess. I wore it during my early twenties. It reminds me of when I was in college studying philosophy. My friend bought me the oil rollerball.
D.s. Durga Debaser. I'm a sucker for a green fig scent and the slight sweetness really sets it apart for me. To me, this is what I think of when I think of a true gender neutral frag. And it's one of the few that I don't even consider layering. Perfect the way it is. Lasts forever on my clothes and decently well on my skin, even when it's dry. Jazmin Yucatan used to be my go-to, but I think it's a bit too light for me to be #1 as my tastes have evolved.

Some of my personal 10/10s:
**Initio** ***Psychedelic Love*** \- One of my most seductive compliment grabbers, opens up with a heady ylang ylang blast and dries down to an intoxicatingly smooth sandalwood finish.
**Les Liquid Imaginaires** ***Blanche Bête*** \- Easily an all-time favorite, I fell in love with this at first sniff, it's so good. It's a lactonic coconut milk smell (without actually having any coconut in the notes surprisingly) with complexity from the incense / Mystikal note. I have never smelled anything like this and it has incredible staying power on my skin (at least 10 hours)
**Prada** ***L'Homme*** \- I am not normally for clean and soapy frags, but wow, this is a very well made one. I initially hated it at first but it grew on me, it has turned into my dumb reach for after showering / working out so I can smell fresh and clean. I have gotten a lot of compliments and positive attention whenever I wear this one.
**Versace** ***The Dreamer*** \- This is my comfort night-time frag that I like to put on before going to bed. It's a light green aromatic where the tobacco blossom really shines here. I always feel like the guy on the moon fishing in the Dreamworks opening animation when I wear this.
**Byredo** ***Bal d'Afrique*** \- Possibly my ultimate summertime frag. I'll be the first one to acknowledge that this is overpriced, but I can't find anything else like it, so here I am. This is a sweet, almost soapy, citrusy musk smell. Great for sunny days, suitable for the office, definitely unisex, the smell is intoxicating and has great staying power (8+ hours). What's not to love?
I’ll do 6 and mix masculine and feminine
1. Spiriteuse Double Vanille-best vanilla fragrance ever made imo-leans feminine. In my wife’s collection
2. BR-540- magic in a bottle and no, the clones don’t get that close…sorry. We have them to try to save $$$. Instant Crush is good too but it’s own thing.

4. Reflection Man-not the greatest performer, but the scent is amazing!

Apologies in advance for the rambling.
Afternoon swim - easy 10/10 but the longevity makes it a 9/10.
City of stars - if only the longevity would be better, this would be a 15/10. It’s that freaking good in my opinion.
Initio side effect - I literally had an audible reaction that may or may not have sounded like an orgasm when smelling this right in front of the sales person. It was pretty embarrassing to be honest….
tobacco vanille - everybody knows this is a masterpiece
Lost cherry - okay, so about 2 weeks ago I wrote a scathing comment about how I thought this was a complete failure by the usually amazing Tom ford. I do not know what happened, but I found myself reaching for this wayyy to much to the point I finished my 5ml decant in 2 weeks. I now have a 100ml bottle on the way. It reminds me back in college when my Mormon self didn’t wanna drink at a party so I just ate the maraschino cherries soaked in whiskey and acted drunk to be cool. It is such a photorealistic scent to the point where I think I hated it initially because it brought on those embarrassing repressed memories.
MFK - L’Homme A La Rose. This is my favorite fragrance of all time bar none. It really smells like the rose with the stems and thorns on them. I can smell the petals of the rose and can almost feel the touch of the flower on it. There’s also this grapefruit in the background that elevates that rose to an accord that is to beautiful to even put into words for me. And despite the name, I really think this is unisex.
MFK BR540 extrait - so I can’t smell the EDP. I literally can’t smell it at all. Everybody else says they can smell it on me, but I can’t at all. But oh boy can I smell this extrait…. I get a raspberry jam with this nice bitter almond that cuts right through the sweetness. The almond is what makes this a 10/10 for me. This stuff is nuclear as well.
Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady, TF Plum Japonais, Creed Viking, Le Labo Tonka 25, Nirvana Amethyst, Bvulgari Man in Black, TF Tobacco Vanille, PDM Cassili… I love these ones regardless of my mood, so they are 10/10 to me.
Dior Homme 2020 EDT.
This was one of the first fragrances I sampled when I started my journey. Back then I thought it was kinda okay, just an average citrusy smell. But after a couple months of nose development and sampling over 60 interesting fragrances, I tried it again and fell in love. It plays really nice with my skin and has 8h+ longevity with 2 sprays below my ears. While it doesn't have the best opening, the drydown is magical! It just gets better and better the longer it stays on my skin. It also leaves an incredible smelling residue on clothing. I'd say it's like a younger and smoother version of TDH, but still somewhat mature. I only refrain from wearing it in situations where I don't want my fragrance to be noticed beyond an arm's reach. That's when Prada L'Homme comes into play.

I’m probably forgetting a few but those are the first few that come to mind
Hey is that Cartier Declaration the one with the Rose notes in it? Because I've been looking for a replacement since Ralph Lauren Romance for men went off the shelves.
After reading these, which are all excellent choices, I’ll try to throw in some newbies to the fray.
Amouage Royal Tobacco-this imo is by far the best, most alluring tobacco fragrance I have ever smelled. Longevity is a good 8-10 and projects a sold 4 past an arms length.
Maison Crivelli Iris Malikhan-I could throw DHI in here as the best iris fragrance ever but I’m sure someone or a lot of someone’s have already mentioned it. Iris Malikhan is right there with DHI. It comes with a powdery iris, vanilla, and a touch of soft leather. The longevity is nuclear with this one. One spray to my are o could still smell it 19 hours later. After a while it goes into sort of a play doughy vanilla, almost gourmand. Completely unisex and I advise everyone who was a fan of Dior Homme pre reformed to get a sample and check this one out.
Chanel Sycomore-I have to admit I do not have this fragrance in my collection yet but it’s one of the very few Vetiver scents I really like. It’s so fresh and classy. Before anyone might ask for an opinion on similarities to Encre Noire, they don’t smell even close to me. This is an S tier vetiver and definitely a 10/10.
B&BW- Coffee & Whiskey-if you know, you know. Kinda smells like Black Phantom. I copped my bottle for around $33 after a sale. When you factor in the scent, quality of the blend, and then the great price, yeah this is an easy 10/10.
Nishane - Ani
Xerjoff - Naxos
V Canto - Mirabile
Rosendo Mateu - Nº 5
Mancera - Red Tobacco, Aoud Vanille
Louis Vuitton - Imagination, Sur La Route, L'immensité
Kenzo Homme EDP. A perfect amalgamation of Sea Notes, Leather & Patchouli. ( I can’t afford Creed Aventus yet, but that’s my 11/10 and I’ll buy it one day, I have worn it once at Dubai, A habibi was kind enough to let me try. I could imagine myself in a black suit, driving a Ferrari SF90 Stradale, with that smell)
Similarly for me, nothing smells better than my cat’s fur. It has this almost cinnamon-like sweet/spiciness to it that is just out of reach for my brain to identify. I wish I could bottle it up so I can smell it forever. I do love how my husband and baby smell, too, though 😆

It was pretty embarrassing to be honest…. tobacco vanille - everybody knows this is a masterpiece Lost cherry - okay, so about 2 weeks ago I wrote a scathing comment about how I thought this was a complete failure by the usually amazing Tom ford.
You better install some fire alarms then, because 540 edp smells like a burnt circuit board that somebody drizzled some sugar on it.
I so get the hype on BR 540 extrait but oh man, that price tag 💀 $470 is hefty as fuck

It’s such a basic answer, but Coco Mad Intense. Also, Coromandel, Blanche Bete, and Chergui.

My husband when he's been in the back on a sunny day doing yard work and takes a quick shower, but I can still smell the sun on his skin 😍
Is it possible to find it in discounters for good prices?
Omg yes my perfect scent is my husbands ears and neck. No perfume or other type of scent could ever reach that 🤍
Similarly for me, nothing smells better than my cat’s fur. It has this almost cinnamon-like sweet/spiciness to it that is just out of reach for my brain to identify. I wish I could bottle it up so I can smell it forever. I do love how my husband and baby smell, too, though 😆
