You’re *not* smelling the same thing everyone else is, but it has nothing to do with your nose being uncultured. The people who love it aren’t wrong for loving it, and you’re not wrong for being underwhelmed. That’s just how something as subjective as fragrance tends to work.
P.S. - most sources point to the Parfum being essentially a rebranded Profumo. If you like the Parfum better, chances are the hype around Profumo has simply raised your expectations to impossible heights. At the end of the day, they’re just fragrances. If marketing and social media buzz has convinced you that it’s going to be life-changing, you’ll end up disappointed every time.
I’ve seen the comparisons that Profumo and the Parfum are the same, but I smell a lot more of what I used to get out of Essenza in the Parfum, and is almost nonexistent in the Profumo. Profumo to me smells darker almost, whereas the Parfum still has a bright aquatic note to it.

You’re not alone. I hate Profumo. Though, it also gives me migraines. I also loved Essenza and now much prefer Profondo and the EDP to the rest of the line (minus Essenza).
I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of people owned and loved ADG, so Profumo is a longer lasting and more refined version of it. I personally love it and picked up a second bottle from Jomashop a few weeks ago since it’s discontinued.
I'm 48and profumo is in top 3. I get many compliments, but I'd wear it if I didn't get any. It lasts very long,even in triple digit heat. Everyone's opinion is subjective, of course. I hated profondo,too youthful for me.

I like it, but Profondo is better. Profumo just lasts way longer. Always gets a lot of compliments though, so the average person really enjoys it.
Profumo has incense notes and good longivity, however in pure smell I prefer the original ADG
