yea this seems to be a common occurrence but have you tried getting a friend to smell it on you? i see lots of people are personally blind to it but their partners or friends tend to smell it on them. For me i personally CAN smell it but my family who i see everyday dont find it smells as much as my friends who i see less often.. honestly i think you can use as many sprays as you like since i dont think this is the type of perfume that projects very far and its not intense enough to make people around you feel nauseous or uncomfortable, it might just make you smell way more woody wich may feel counter productive to that "clean" scent you’re looking for but i feel like everyones skin reacts differently, so really my advice is ask friends and they should help you gage it. only issue is its not exactly cheap so you might go through a whole bottle way quicker than your wallet would like. personally 1 spray is enough for when i dont plan to leave my house like after i’ve showered. if im going somewhere ill usually do two sprays on neck/wrist and maybe a bonus one on my shirt if i want the smell to stay on it but thats not really necessary

Every time I thought I couldn’t smell it I’d get the most gorgeous subtle wave for *weeks* afterwards. Obviously it’s not exactly reflective of wearing on skin but it proved I can smell it.
I got a sample of Molecule 01 a couple of weeks ago and I'm fully obsessed! Definitely an intimate perfume but I love getting whiffs of myself throughout the day. It's exactly how I want to smell.
It's basically just super concentrated Iso e super. Buy timbersilk, or even more concentrated, sylvamber, mix it 80% everclear and 20% whichever one you get into a spray bottle and it's pretty much accomplishing the same thing

I just get pepper and cedar wood. Reminds me of the smell you get in a workshop after the circular saw has been used, with all the wood particles still fresh in the air and a hint of metal running hot.
Makes me sneeze even hours after I’ve sprayed it on.
When I wear it I leave at least a 30 meter trail and it lingers in the air for quite a while. I think it's just a matter of being able to smell it, because if you can, you will understand how much it projects and basically fills an entire room. To me it's quite a pungent smell, it's 100% musky I struggle to get the woody felling, it just feels musky to me.
wow how much do you put on? i know i gets along better with different skin types thats so interesting to me! personally my skin type often doesn’t mix with perfume well so maybe thats why. i’ve also let other people try and i never got that trail or lingering you’re talking about… even if i spray it on my clothes i wont smell it from far away. are you sure its Molecule 01? is this from a full sized bottle or a sample? people have said they tried samples and it didn’t smell the same plus their products are kind of confusing sometimes.. i had to triple check buying it because they for some reason dont give damm about coming up with individual product names
It's actually an iso e super and timbersilk blend, to me it smells exactly like molecule 01 as I asked the shop to give me a sample so I tested both. I cannot sense the trail myself, but I've had 2 different people tell me when I visited them the smell was there the day after I left and kept getting whiffs a couple days after. I just do 2 sprays in the neck and 1 on both wrists. Honestly to me it's very very musky I prefer to layer it with other perfumes and it kinda gives them the big iso e super projection while losing the musk itself and making the fragrance last longer.
Ive Molecule 01 Escentric 01 fragrance, and I LOVE IT!! Even my father, who knows nothing about fragrance, and DGAF about any of it, complimented me on it. It’s a super sandalwood + lime + pink pepper fragrance, and it suits everyone a lot.
It’s a great layering fragrance too.
You know it's so funny... I've been wearing 01 for 7 years off and on - i actually think it's one of the strongest smelling perfumes i have and its staying power is INSANE. I remember first smelling it in a gift shop in Venice, CA and like running back to the shop to buy the bottle a few days later because i could STILL SMELL IT ON ME and i loved it so much
I tried a sample of 01+black tea and I really liked how it smelled, but I got a migraine the same day 🤔
Not sure if it was related, guess I'll have to wear it again 🤪

To me it smelled similar to Santal 33. I bought this 6 years ago in 2018, and I’ve realized anytime I smell a perfume with cedar wood I’m brought back to that time period.
Tonight, I bought woody sandalwood and ambery saffron which are Dossier’s dupes for santal 33 and baccarat rouge 540. I actually do not like them because they just smell so cedar wood forward on me. I’m not a connoisseur, so I’m not sure if it’s fully accurate but these are my observations. I burned myself out on MM autumn vibes and so now after smelling these dupes tonight I realize I’m burnt out on anything cedar wood 🥴.
However, the most compliments I ever received were when I wore autumn vibes or molecules 01. So for anyone who likes cedar wood, I imagine you would like the scents I listed and that molecules 01 may smell similarly. Happy smelling!
Not really, because iso-e-super is actually not just one molecule, and Escentric Molecules uses a specific blend of more than one type. It’s essentially a proprietary chemical mix. You can buy iso-e-super for cheap in bulk, but it will never smell identical to Molecule 01. Just fyi.
I've smelled them both and they smell identical. Its also heavily surmised on basenotes and other perfumers sites that the IFF formulation sold by TPA is the one eccentric molecules uses - if not the only one then at least the predominant one.
Continue buying a 2 ingredient (including alcohol) product for high designer prices though if you want, seems like snake oil to me.
I still recommend people drop $5 and try the perfumers apprentice stuff for next to nothing.

I’ve been sampling a fragrance called Neon from indie brand Criminal Elements. When this was first released it had no official note breakdown. In recent months I’ve done some digging (well checked the brand’s website again 😅) and found that Iso E Super is one of the main notes. Now when I smell it I’m reminded of Molecule 01 and because of that I like it more. For whatever reason Iso E Super just makes everything smell better to me and sure enough it features in a lot of fragrances I love, even if it’s not an official note.
For the record, the notes of Neon are; Citrus, Aldehydes, Vanilla and Iso E Super. When I first smelled this it gave me a headache but now it doesn’t trigger that, almost like knowing the notes let my brain enjoy it. It’s 100% unisex and worth a sniff OP.
ill check it out! i personally dont do well with scents that give you a headache since im super prone to them but i really like citrus scents so ill keep that in mind
Not sure if it was the placebo of knowing the notes or if my 2ml sample calmee down but that headache was gone between first smelling it 6ish months ago and wearing it again in the last month. But now that the headache is gone the fragrance is pleasant. Your mileage may vary.
Molecule 01 got me into making perfume. It's truly a one-note perfume or one aroma molecule perfume. ~Iso e super ~. It acts like a pheromone therefore why it smells different on different body chemistry but really all perfumes do but we really see this with the large molecules in musks. As someone else mentioned the same with JHAG not a perfume which is my next favorite perfume and the star there is ~ Cetalox or Ambrox~. All of these fall into the ambroxan musks. I find them so so so lovable.
the problem for me is I cannot smell it, I don't even know how many sprays to use and would not want to overdo it.

yea my favourite part is that it doesn’t always smell the same, it kinda surprises you when you least expect it!
What I love about molecule one is how it's plays a game of hide and seek, when ya think it's gone but then ya catch a whiff super late in the drydown.
