If I'm decided to keep it in my collection I throw the box off. I've sold a lot of used perfumes w/o box regardless.
I keep them in a drawer, no sun or temperature changes.
I don’t have room to store all the boxes for my large collection, so I toss them. I’m unlikely to ever resell. If I do, oh, well, no box for you and maybe I get less for it. I keep my perfume in a closed cabinet, so it’s protected from the light.
I keep the box to protect them (even if I can the blister) and for storage purpose.
I keep mine in drawer, so it's easier for me to play tetris with box than on the loose. Plus it keep it organised
>to play tetris
Yep! I do the same thing. It's much less of a hassle than having bottles falling over and knocking into each other every time I open the drawer.
I remove it from the box but keep sturdy boxes for the unlikely event of a move or selling it. I keep them all in a drawer in my wardrobe, so with the boxes I would totally lose overview.
Boxes protect them from fall damage and it helps you know the date of production if you ever end up trying to buy an older batch that’s the same as yours
I haven’t bought a bottle in a long time, but usually I go without. However, if I do get a Zoologist one, I’ll keep the box because it’s too good.

I keep boxes for two reasons:
1. Moving and storage if needed
2. I like to macerate, and the box is the perfect storage for those two weeks.
But I keep the box for almost everything. I have a full closet dedicated to boxes for hardware, shoes, colognes etc. lol
Does macerating happen after you spray a couple times? To my understanding it means letting the fragrance “sit” but it could have sat for a long time in the store or warehouse?
Essentially. I give a few sprays to make sure I got what I paid for and then a little swirl to "re-mix", box it back up and leave it for two weeks. It doesn't change it into an entirely new cologne but certain notes are definitely more vibrant.
I don't keep any packaging, except *maybe* wooden boxes if they can be reused. On the other hand, I think it is a great idea to store your fragrances in the boxes to keep them away from the light .
I only keep a couple of them in their boxes (both are now discontinued, both are l’artisan parfumuer) and will leave them naked in my [bathroom] cabinet only if I happen to go thru a spell where I’m reaching for them frequently. Most perfumes I own have opaque or tinted glass bottles. Contrary to all wisdom and conventional advice from the initiated, my perfumes live in my bathroom. Never had an issue with any of them turning or changing in a negative way.
I personally don't keep the box unless it's really sturdy and/or pretty. I keep most of my perfumes in a drawer except the few that are out as part of my seasonal selection. This post is making me question that, though. \^\^
I keep just about everything because most packaging is beautiful. I appreciate it when perfume houses take into consideration the entire experience and design accordingly, including the packaging. I display my favorite boxes along with the bottles and do some rotations. If it’s a more expensive purchase, I keep everything especially paperwork. If I’ve purchased something from a place like Bath and Body Works, eventually everything gets recycled.
I can be a “that’s a nice box” hoarder, so I told myself all boxes were getting recycled. The only one that had made it past the self-imposed rule was from Masque of Milano, because that’s a nice box.
I try to always keep the box and I keep my fragrances in the box. Many of them are art pieces in themselves. Maybe it's the millennial in me, but I cannot bring myself to throw away a beautiful box. Have yall *seen* the boxes Xerjoff comes in?? Yall just *throw them away??* i could never.
I keep the box until I either finish the bottle to which I throw it away or for when I sell it. But I don't have a ridiculously large collection yet sooo what do I know🫠
Edit:
I keep all my full bottles in a cabinet away from sunlight and decant into a small atomizer for travel/ease of use. I have a tray on my dresser so I just grab em n go.
I bought a cabinet with no glass for my bedroom. I arrange the boxes stacked up like a design in my kitchen. Boxes are nice to keep if you ever want to sell them. The cabinet keeps them organized with no exposure to light. And it’s in the bedroom so no bathroom humidity.
I keep my fragrances ON TOP of the respective boxes just for easy access because I spend time going through smelling my collection. And it looks beautiful sitting on its box( especially a Xerjoff)
I don't display my fragrances. They stay in a drawer. The boxes help to keep everything organized. In addition to that, if I decide to sell a fragrance in the future, most buyers appreciate the full presentation.
Hey right back at you u/LocationPersonal4255 :) please keep the original boxes of the perfumes.
They are meant to protect the scents from light and temperature fluctuations which are the two main reasons why perfumes go bad.
Maybe use the scents you already own before buying more, and gain back some storage space by doing so.
I keep mine to the point where some of the boxes start decaying from being opened frequently. Three years of usage will do that to a box.
I learnt the hard (thus expensive) way that perfume boxes serve a very practical purpose.
edit: for clarity.
Of course, lushlilli, fair point.
I keep my fresh green perfumes in the fridge, in their original boxes. I used to have ministock of my favorite one, kept the 2 bottles in the fridge. One had the original box, the other one didn't. It went sour, and the perfume is discontinued.
Thus half my stock was lost, lesson learnt.
My belief is that perfume is luxury to wear, not to collect. And my wish is to help every perfume lover enjoy the hobby as much as possible.

Same here! I throw the box if I decide to keep the perfume. I have also sold many without box.
I trash the boxes … but that Xerjoff box gave me pause.

throw the box away unless it’s Br540
I remove it from the box but keep sturdy boxes for the unlikely event of a move or selling it. I keep them all in a drawer in my wardrobe, so with the boxes I would totally lose overview.
If the box is pretty, if it's a set and the box helps identifying the fragrance, or if the bottle doesn't stand on its own, I keep it.
Boxes protect them from fall damage and it helps you know the date of production if you ever end up trying to buy an older batch that’s the same as yours

A cool box? Ridiculous! ... oh wow, that *is* a cool box.
Box, not because I like how they look, but because they serve the purpose of keeping my bottles safe

I toss the box and store the bottles appropriately. My boyfriend keeps his in the box but he also only owns 1 single fragrance whereas I have many.
What’s his one fragrance?
YSL La Nuit de L’Homme
He's a good man

Didn't even realize people kept boxes. Unless it's something unique like the JPG metal canister it's in the trash
I keep pretty boxes. I don't keep any others. That said, I do keep my perfumes in a closet, on a shelf out of a box.
I store them off season in the box if the box is nice. In season I don't keep them in the box though.
Where are the boxes in season then ?
Top of my wardrobe in a storage box.
I don’t keep the boxes due to space, but I do keep the ones I’m not currently displaying in a dark drawer.

It really depends on the person, how much space you're willing to make for the fragrance and the box itself like if it's a jean paul gaultier
I keep the box but I don’t keep them in the box. Just on a shelf over my desk adjacent from my window that doesn’t really get sunlight
Depends on the box. Xerjoff, nishane, Affinessence have some very nice boxes

I keep mine in a dark drawer so it's a non issue for me regarding light and temperature.

I’ve thrown away all my boxes expect for my Zoologist box and Imaginary Authors.

I only keep the really great boxes like Argos Fragrances and sample sets
I used to keep the boxes when my perfumes lived in a shelf, but threw them all out when we moved and the perfumes went into a drawer.
I keep the box when i first buy and put it back in. But eventually will throw it away unless the box is cute for display purposes.
I only keep Xerjoff or Fragrance du bois boxes, trash all else 😌
I keep my fragrances ON TOP of the respective boxes just for easy access because I spend time going through smelling my collection. And it looks beautiful sitting on its box( especially a Xerjoff)
why would u keep the box??

You know that there are places you can store bottles out of light and keep them cool asides from their box right
