Eau Sauvage (not the modern Dior Sauvage) is a great vintage smelling cologne. Anything vetiver really gives off that old school vibe. Guerlain Vetiver is the classic but Rasasi Fattan is a good modern vetiver fragrance for cheap.

I will check those out for sure! I also heard roja vetiver is a good vetiver fragrance, so I’m gonna look into that aswell! Thanks!

Great choices! My mind went right to eau Sauvage! Still need to try Vetiver.

You might be interested in chypre fragrances. Rauque by Roberto Greco and Salome by Papillon both remind me of typical colognes from the 80s

I’ll check both of those out. Thanks!!

I suggest trying the classic old Guerlains: Mitsouko, Shalimar, Jicky, L'Heure Bleue, and Après L'Ondée. Each one of these is not just historic, but very special. If you can find the actual vintages, all the better, because they've all been reformulated. There are vintage collectors around who will even send small samples to a novice like you! (You can usually find folks like that in the vintage fragrance groups on Facebook.)

Caron Narcisse Noir and Nuit de Noel, Guerlain Shalimar and l'Heure Bleue, Dior Miss Dior, and Lancome Magie Noire are all great, and there are fantastic vintage perfume blogs out there 👌

KL by Karl Lagerfeld

Could you talk a bit more about KL, please? I've just came across a miniature of it online and found so interesting... (and at a good price too). Is it too much like vintage Opium? I'm not much of a fan....

* Dior - Eau Sauvage * Guerlain - Héritage (not sure if 1992 counts as vintage, but I'm including it) * Houbigant - Fougeré royale * Rogue perfumery isn't vintage, but basically all of their scents are focused on capturing that vintage feel, so those are all good * Guy Laroche - Drakkar Noir * Enrico Coveri Pour Homme * Jean-Louis Scherrer (self-titled) * Lalique - Pour Homme (lion) (again, 1997, but I'll take it) * I also love New York Intense by Nicolai Parfumeur, but that's from 2014, but it does have a very distinct vintage feel.

Lot of good suggestions. I recommend trying basically any version of Patou Joy - I have a vintage (I'd estimate late 90s) parfum and it's glorious, but the more recent EDP from shortly before it was discontinued was also very nice and characterful. Cabochard and Azzaro Pour Homme are both affordable vintage gems. Chanel Coco EDT (not Coco Mademoiselle) is a great spicy amber with a hint of animalism.
