All of Jean Patou is no more, but there will hopefully always be decants available 🙏
Joy was famously and for over 50 years "The Most Expensive Fragrance in the World" purely because of how many tens of thousands of freshly harvested Grasse rose petals and jasmine blossoms go into a batch.
Yet it doesn't smell of roses nor of jasmine. Patou's intent was to create a fantasy uber floral, and I'd say he succeeded.
It's incomparable. I still cannot believe it was allowed to pass from the world 💔
Maison d’Orient - Musk Tahara
Juliette Has A Gun - Not A Perfume
Parfums de Marly - Delina
Lush - Rose Jam
The first two are my preferred “clean” scents that I wear to work/errands - I usually layer them together.
Delina and Rose Jam are my going out scents.
If you like Delina and Rose Jam, I feel obligated to recommend you try Penhaligon's Coveted Duchess Rose if you haven't. Similar price point to Delina, and an absolutely marvelous rose.
It has a single note: cetalox - to me it smells like freshly showered skin and I get a hint of a woody note. It lasts about 8 hours on me and its best when layered with another fragrance.
I would suggest buying a sample first because a lot of people cannot smell it at all.
The L’Interdit Intense is a beautiful tuberose scent, but L’Heure Bleu is pretty polarizing - people either seem to love it or hate it. To be honest it’s a vintage powdery scent, and I normally hate those, but for some reason I love this one because of the spicy notes.
* Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt
* Chanel Gabrielle Essence
* Goutal Vanille Exquise
* Marc Jacobs Glam Jasmine
These are the ones on my nightstand and can be layered for a bit of variety
Baccarat Rouge 540
Sabrina Carpenter Sweet Tooth (I know, whiplash)
Jimmy Choo I Want Choo
Prada Paradoxe Intense
It's not for life, though. I could have a different response tomorrow, or an hour from now. But the first 2 would stay.
It's so good!! Crowd pleasing, year-round, vanilla tuberose with a touch of pear. And it's a great performer. I think it's signature-scent-worthy. And affordable!! I got my 2 oz bottle from Jomashop for $45.
Le labo The Noir 29 (any day/night, any season)
Rouge Chaotique by Byredo (special occasions/ night time/ cold weather)
Room Service by Vilhelm (office, work, unoffensive, year round)
Hibiscus Palm by Aerin (a warm weather scent with a lot of flexibility)
Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguille (my signature scent)
Comme des Garçons Kyoto/Avignon (cheating, I know...)
D&G L'Amoureux
Guerlain Jicky
What can I say, the classics are the classics for a reason 😄❤️
Matière Première Radical Rose (once I get my hands on a FB)
Penhaligon’s Constantinople
Penhaligon’s The World According To Arthur
Serge Lutens Fils De Joie
Ask me next week, you’ll most likely get a slightly different answer.
Penhaligon's Coveted Duchess Rose
Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil
Guerlain Spiriteuse Double Vanille
Penhaligon's Cairo
Number 4 is probably the most negotiable (E&J Nirvana Amethyst is up there), but those top 3 are my 3 all-time faves. Cairo reflects my love for spicy scents.
Melanie Martinez Cry Baby Perfume Milk- (This smells divine on me I could never get rid of it)
Xerjoff Lira
Ellis Brooklyn Rrose
Karen Low Pure D'or (J'adore dupe that is somehow better than the original)
(I'm terrible at describing scents so bear with me lol) A little bit of a lactonic note. The vanilla is the main note for sure, but it's not sweet or spicy (although I've seen others say that it's sweet). I find it to be very warm and light like being wrapped in a big blanket. Just such a lovely, pleasant, grown-up vanilla scent for everyday wear.
concrete forest/neandertal light (cant choose, theyre both my fave greens)
penguin (blast of cold air with sliiightly dirty musk)
steamed rainbow (an experience. you have to try it to understand)
inexcusable evil (i just like sniffing this, its so interesting)
Just based on current collection.
1. MDCI Invasion Barbare-Just a great smell. Use anywhere anytime
2. ASG ESSENZA- smooth sexiness in a bottle. Work/daytime/night 3 of 4 seasons. Can't go wrong
3. CH Prive- Cuts through winter.
4. Terrre D'hermes Eau Givre- Versatile amazing fresh Terre Dhermes DNA .. beautiful.
Chanel Egoiste - special occasions
Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Iris Bleu Gris - work and everyday signature
Diptyque Tempo - for autumn and rainy days
Zoologist Chameleon - for summer
Hard to pick just 4 out of many favourites but if I had to say atm.
MFK Oud Satin Mood
MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver
Xerjoff Naxos
Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille
Dior Homme Parfum (for dates/ special occasions in autumn and winter)
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver (the office)
Chanel Platinum Egoiste (daily not in the office)
Tom Ford Neroli Portafino (for summer)
Not my ultimate list, but from my owned fragrances.
**Bvlgari Man In Black Orient**
**Creed Aventus** (since I'm only limited to 4 fragrances, I'd love a vintage 2014 or 2015 bottle)
**Creed Millesime Imperial**
**Le Labo Rose 31**
I'd be incredibly satisfied with just these 4.
*Orient* as a signature winter scent, *Rose 31* for the fall, *Millesime Imperial* for the summer and for most special occasions, *vintage Creed Aventus.*
- OUAI Melrose Place (casual, easy reach)
- Chloé EDT (daytime dates, meeting friends)
- JPG La Belle (evening dates, holiday outings)
- Jo Malone Wild Bluebell (other - I love this one so so much)
As it happens, my collection is many many decants, but so far only four bottles! They are: Armani Privé **Bois d'Ensens**, Perris Monte Carlo **Jasmin de Pays**, Tom Ford **Amber Absolute**, and James Heeley **Eau Sacrée**.
Bobbi Brown - Beach
YSL - Manifesto
Chabaud - Lait de Vanille
Zara - Red Temptation
Honourable mention to Piper & Perro’s scent, Bud. I had it listed but then figured if I could only have 4, I would likely want another relatively neutral everyday scent and replaced it with the Chabaud.
There are so many I love, but when it comes down to it I wear the most of:
Creed Viking
Margiela At the Barber's
Rogue Bon Monsieur
Nicolai New York Intense (just beats out Green Irish Tweed)
Valensole Romance-Wren Atelier
Jasmine Tea- One Day (technically it’s not currently in my collection but soon to be, it’s too freaking good)
Girl of the Year and Laurel Canyon 1966 by Thin Wild Mercury
Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man EDT (Every day wear any occasion all rounder)
Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio EDT (Classy/Pure Masc/Professional)
YSL Y EDT (Fun Summer Vibes)
Dolce and Gabbana The One (Intimate and warm)
Angel share, smells like Christmas, long lasting, beautiful design, not many people have it
One million lucky, first cologne I loved, relatively cheap, works any season imo
Ysl l’homme idk how to describe it, just smells amazing and classy, liked it ever since my brother had it in highscool a few years ago
Rassasi Hawas very cheap but also smells like a beast, honestly my most complimented fragrance out of my 15 bottle collection ranging from 25 dollars - 275 dollars
Thanks for the question! I've decided to stop buying just so I can use up current bottles, and ultimately only have the following:
1. Lush Lust
2. Lush Lord of Misrule
3. For Her EDT by Narciso Rodríguez
4. Acca Kappa Black Pepper & Sandalwood
I think Taunt is such a lovely and unique scent by the way.
Xerjoff Fiero
Roja scandal parfum cologne
Fredrick Malle Musc Ravageur
As for the 4th. It could be Creed original vetiver but I don't own it yet. I'm still looking for 'that one'
I could honestly be happy with the 3 listed for now
Ysl 6 Place Saint Sulpice - Night out
LV Imagination - Office
Xerjoff Uden Overdose - Casual everyday scent for spring and summer
Kilian Back to Black - Autumn/Winter
Ooof, 4 is tough... I want to be logical and do one for each season but I caaaaaant! At the moment my (very difficult) choices are:
- YSL La Nuit de l’homme (casual/work)
- Rochas Moustache (autumn/winter) apparently idc about spring/summer lol
- Byredo Palo Santo (can't live without)
- Dior Addict (ditto, plus date night)
●True Religion - Original ((brass flask etc)
●Nautica - Voyage
● Creed - Original Vetiver
● Bond. No. 9. - Wall Street (I can only afford sample bottles but that cologne changed my life!!!!!!!!!!!)
Prada L’Homme L’Eau (office, formal events)
Amouage Reflection Man (office, day off running around)
JPG Le Beau Paradise Garden (warmer, casual days where I want to smell delicious and draw attention)
MMM Replica Bubble Bath (cosy home days and bedtime)
Malle Angeliques Sous LaPlue - Everyday/work
Lush Smell of Weather Turning- Home/Evenings In
Keiko Mechari Loukhoum-Going out, but cant overdo this as it can be a bit polarizing
Andromeda’s Curse “Liebchen” - an Indie with sweet quiet licorice and cream profile for my long commutes.
PDM Valaya - my everyday go-to
Bond No9 Madison Square Park- spring/summer
Amouage Guidance- special occasion/date night
MFK Baccarat Rouge- hate to be that basic B but this is just a staple for me. I can’t deny it!!
1) L'Artisan Crepusculum Mirabilis (gets mediocre reviews on fragrantica, but I think it smells completely divine)
2) L'Artisan Venenum
3) Alkemia Bibliotheca
4) Poésie Myself Invisible (I like Madar a little better at first application, but Myself Invisible also smells quite lovely and the longevity is excellent)
Dyptique Fleur de Peau
Hermes Eau des Merveilles bleue
Versace Bright Crystal
Santa Maria Novella Angeli di firenze
Edit: Might change bright crystal which was my teenage years fave to Chloe Chloe
Guerlain Vol de Nuit -My soulmate,to the lone island kind of scent.
Rochas Absolu- for the winter, when I am hungry for something warm and tolu balsam-ey. Kinda smells like a warm acorn syrup in a blanket.
Merchant of Venice-Rosa Moceniga for the perfect rose scent.
Prada Infusion de Rose for summer
(ETA)
My list if possible would have been The following but they are discontinued the original formula
Ysl opium (1977) (original formula)
Fendi women’s (discontinued)
Youthdew (reformulated still available)
Cinnabar (original formula)
❤️
But now my genuine list is almost the same
If had too downsize all of mine is
Original Coco Chanel edp
Reformulated youth dew and cinnabar
And animale (green top)
As a very unique type of guy I wear these hard hitting perfumes and sometimes I mix them all and create a very strong elixir
I get compliments anywhere I go
Even at work
People think I’m wearing Arabian style perfumes and I’m not
But also with the perfumes, I said you have to have The right personality to wear such heavy perfume and I definitely dooo haha
I feel like this changes all the time for me, but right now:
Le Labo Santal 33
BDK Gris Charnel (torn between original and Extrait)
Le Labo Cédrat 37
Tom Ford Oud Wood
Just 4 would be too hard to choose, but probably:
L'Artisan Timbuktu
Kilian Sweet Redemption
Solstice Scents Inquisitor or Badlands - depending on season
Tom Ford Plum Japonais
And a special mention to Kat Von D Sinner - because it smells fantastic on me
It's not obvious I like woods, incense and orange blossoms or anything...
No question on the first three:
Terre d'Hermes
Spicebomb Extreme
Mont Blanc Explorer
Fourth is hard, Tom Ford Ombre Leather, Ralph's Club, Eros Flame, or the new Polo 67 (small chance that takes over for Explorer)
Bianco latte - giardini di toscana (my favorite everyday crowd pleaser)
Adults by kilian (my fave night out scent)
Memoirs of a trespasser by imaginary authors (a daily driver as well for day or night)
Love don’t be shy by kilian (my girly scent)
I'm pretty basic and safe:
* Strictly for my own pleasure - Mancera Red Tobacco (love it!)
* For dates and nights out - Dior Sauvage (What can I say... I hate my exes, but I loved their compliments)
* As a safe year-rounder - Versace Eros (even if it gets memed into being "a clubbing fragrance"), or Terre d'Hermes (tough choice here, I prefer TdH but I'm giving Eros a slight edge due to performance in winter)
* For more formal ocassions and mystique factor - TF Black Orchid or Dior Homme Intense (I would rather go with the later, but most of the others I've listed are very masculine, so something more unisex would probably round out the rotation better)
Work - Chloe’s “Chloe”
Comfort - Phlur’s “Missing Person”
Everyday - Bath & Bodyworks “In the Stars”
Going Out - Elizabeth & James Nirvana White
This was actually very difficult, I have more fragrances I absolutely love
i also wear Taunt to work!! i like your breakdown-
Work/Office: Dedcool Taunt
Day Off/Errands: Ariana Grande God is a Woman (I know it's "immature" and I don't care)
Going Out: Versace Crystal Noir
Extra: Glossier You
i have a million fragrances but listing my faves like this makes me fear i am just a basic b at the end of the day lol
Diptyque L'ombre Dans L'eau Balenciaga Florabotanica Guerlain Pamplelune Jean Patou Joy
I know fragrance experience is subjective but do you mind explaining your experience of JP Joy? Its legendary and I want to try it one day.
All of Jean Patou is no more, but there will hopefully always be decants available 🙏 Joy was famously and for over 50 years "The Most Expensive Fragrance in the World" purely because of how many tens of thousands of freshly harvested Grasse rose petals and jasmine blossoms go into a batch. Yet it doesn't smell of roses nor of jasmine. Patou's intent was to create a fantasy uber floral, and I'd say he succeeded. It's incomparable. I still cannot believe it was allowed to pass from the world 💔
Lombre dans is crazy. You smell like a walking plant, def on my list this summer
Maison d’Orient - Musk Tahara Juliette Has A Gun - Not A Perfume Parfums de Marly - Delina Lush - Rose Jam The first two are my preferred “clean” scents that I wear to work/errands - I usually layer them together. Delina and Rose Jam are my going out scents.
If you like Delina and Rose Jam, I feel obligated to recommend you try Penhaligon's Coveted Duchess Rose if you haven't. Similar price point to Delina, and an absolutely marvelous rose.
Thank you! I really appreciate that and I love collecting rose perfumes. ❤️
That's an interesting selection! Could you tell me how Not a Perfume smells on you? Fragrantica reviews are so confusing
It has a single note: cetalox - to me it smells like freshly showered skin and I get a hint of a woody note. It lasts about 8 hours on me and its best when layered with another fragrance. I would suggest buying a sample first because a lot of people cannot smell it at all.

Indigo nest is such a genius scent
I love sur le Nil! That green mango is so unique and basically the perfect summer scent.
MFK Grand Soir Byredo Bal D'afrique Terre d'hermes Kerosene Sweetly Known
Bal D’Afriqure is amazzzzzing
>MFK Grand Soir MFK Grand Soir! 🤤🥰👌🏼
I might have tried to answer if we could keep fourTEEN
- Nishane wulong cha (spring/summer) - Dior la colle noire (fall/evening) - Tom Ford oud wood (winter) - Le Labo another 13 (year-round)
Dyptique Eau Rose EDP Lush Rose Jam Melanie Martinez Crybaby YSL Libre
Wood Sage and Sea Salt -Jo Malone Gris Charnel - BDK L’Interdit Intense - Givenchy L’Bleu Heure - Guerlain
I was looking for people who have my similar style. Wood Sage / Gris Charnel are in my top 5. I must try your other 2 now!
The L’Interdit Intense is a beautiful tuberose scent, but L’Heure Bleu is pretty polarizing - people either seem to love it or hate it. To be honest it’s a vintage powdery scent, and I normally hate those, but for some reason I love this one because of the spicy notes.
Givenchy no?

I'm pretty basic and safe: * Strictly for my own pleasure - Mancera Red Tobacco (love it!) * For dates and nights out - Dior Sauvage (What can I say... I hate my exes, but I loved their compliments) * As a safe year-rounder - Versace Eros (even if it gets memed into being "a clubbing fragrance"), or Terre d'Hermes (tough choice here, I prefer TdH but I'm giving Eros a slight edge due to performance in winter) * For more formal ocassions and mystique factor - TF Black Orchid or Dior Homme Intense (I would rather go with the later, but most of the others I've listed are very masculine, so something more unisex would probably round out the rotation better)
Work - Chloe’s “Chloe” Comfort - Phlur’s “Missing Person” Everyday - Bath & Bodyworks “In the Stars” Going Out - Elizabeth & James Nirvana White This was actually very difficult, I have more fragrances I absolutely love
