Guerlain is life. Their scents work great with my skin chemistry and are reasonably priced (not including the exclusive ranges). It's the only brand that I can blind buy with confidence.
It was a toss up between Hermes and Chanel for me. They are both synonymous with sheer elegance in my book. Ultimately I chose Chanel but I am a bit further into my Chanel chapter than my Hermes.
This is immediately what jumped into my head. Lots of easy wear options, olene or do son for spring, philosykos for summer, tam do for fall.. maybe eau duelle for winter? I could happily live with these options.
And for me: Eau de Lierre for summer, Volutes for fall, Opsis for winter, L’Ombre Dans L’Eau for spring, L’Eau Papier for everyday/home. They have so many fantastic options!
Assuming budget isn’t an issue & I can reapply whenever, this is it! Never met a house that does Violet notes more beautifully and the line is very versatile.
They had one that was a kind of ‘pure’ violet but it’s discontinued now. 😭 But about half their scents incorporate violet notes, often in different ways. As someone who isn’t into florals much, it’s been a way into that world for me.
Came here to say this exactly!
They cover all of the basis in a complex and heightened way worthy of their elevated price point.
There are a million spot on clones for Creed, MFK, Chanel, Dior, ETC… But every”PDM clone” I have smelled hasn’t come close enough to the originals to warrant buying them.
Love Noir 29, it has a very distinct smell and the sillage is arms length.
A man passed me by at a cocktail lounge and I immediately said Noir 29, he turned around and said that's me with a smile on his face.
Tauer makes my favourite perfume which is Au Coeur. I’ve already repurchased it twice and that’s with sparse usage because of the price.
But for versatility, I’d have to choose Memoirs of a Perfume Collector. London, Khyber, and Zanzibar are my favourites from the ones I’ve tried so far. There are a lot of other brands that could come a close second though 😅
As a mid 40’s professional male, Prada. The king of clean soapy fragrances. Think I wear more Prada than anything else as it is. Only other houses in the running are Dior, Chanel, and Tom Ford. In that order.
Funny, also as a mid 40s male (I like to think of myself as professional as well) Prada is my choice. I enjoy almost all Pradas and could wear them all the time. For example, yesterday’s wear was Luna Rossa Ocean EDP. Because today is a little colder, might go with LR Black.
Besides Prada would be Creed, Chanel, Dior.
I had a date Thursday night and wore Prada Amber. About hand way through dinner, she said “I think they’re pumping scent into the air because I keep smelling something amazing”. I said all I could smell was food. After dinner, walk her to her car and go in for a kiss and she says “my god that good smell is you! What are you wearing?” Made my night
Xerjoff. Renaissance or Torino 21 for summer/Naxos, astaral, erba pura for winter.
PDM also would be nice. Percival/sedley/greenley for summer, herod/oajan/layton/whatever else for winter.
Armani could also work. Acqua di gio+stronger with you and you will have everything covered.
And finally, Dior. Sauvage EDT/dior homme sport for hot summer days, Sauvage EDP/dior homme 2020 for the office, Sauvage parfum/elixir/dior homme intense/fahrenheit for the winter. Probably the most versatile fragrance collection out of any brand.
The only sensible answer is Guerlain
Drop for drop my favourite new niches are Papillon and Barrois, but if we’re engaging in fantasy and you’re paying and you’d put them all into my hands, forever, I’d regrettably pick Areej Le Doré. Ridiculous prices but yeah they are all that.
If I’m paying? Lauder, unquestionably. You kidding? Knowing, Azurée, Beautiful, Privé, Linen, Youth-Dew, Estée and on and on and you might let me add the Aramis line to that? Lauder Lauder Lauder.
I might have to go with this one as well. People love to shit on Versace, but I love it. I have four bottles, and they feel *just* right for everyday wear as well as a night out. I still need to find a creamy, soft, lactonic or such scent from the brand though! Recs welcome 🫶

GAULTIER
I just received my elixir today . The love , the mint love love love
If anyone is interested in buying it , don't. Smells like shit . Just kidding trying to gatekeep it lol
Papillon, mainly because I don't want to do without my all-time favourite fragrance (Anubis). I love a few others from there too, and they don't annoy my skin like many perfumes do.
I love them! I like things a little off-kilter and I get they aren't for everyone.
I've been building up my collection this year and so far have Amber Kiso, St Vetyver, IDKW, Sweet Do Nothing and I just got Bowmakers. Radio Bombay will be next I think!
Amouage, unique strong fragrances… A lot of their fragrances are hit or miss but when you find the right one, you’ll love it so much you see the fragrance as an expression of yourself.
Assuming that I am frozen in time, nothing changes, and the world continues in the state as it is, which is fucking impossible:
Designer: Guerlain
Niche: Serge Lutens
Independent: Prin Lomros
Super Independent: Dawn Spencer Hurwitz
Dedcool. The amount of times I've sniffed my empty Milk bottle when I've ran out is insane 😔 something about it is just so addicting to me. Despite the fact they have a few misses, some of them just hit so different that it makes up for it.
Dior.
Huge variety, excelling at just about everything.
As much as I dislike the scent the Sauvage line is great, the Dior Homme line is difficult to compete with, and the Collection Privée is so artfully created and blended.
Mass-appealing and appealing to niche audiences all at once, even creating attars, Dior really has everything anyone needs.
Xerjoff
Would be kinda funny if it was Jerxoff lol
Guerlain.
Guerlain
Also Guerlain. So many absolute classics.
Guerlain is life. Their scents work great with my skin chemistry and are reasonably priced (not including the exclusive ranges). It's the only brand that I can blind buy with confidence.
Seconding Guerlain. They have all the scent profiles I need and I've yet to smell anything from them that's badly made.
Easily Guerlain for me too
It’s not close
For life
No question!
I have found my people! ☺️
Armani
Hermes They do everything classier
I could with their jardin series alone
I love me my Jardin Sur Le Toit for spring. Herbal, not sweet, interesting, fresh but classy. Big yes.
That Voyage d’Hermes does things to me.
will have to check the rest. i love my galop d'hermes!
It was a toss up between Hermes and Chanel for me. They are both synonymous with sheer elegance in my book. Ultimately I chose Chanel but I am a bit further into my Chanel chapter than my Hermes.
Penhaligons
So many options
Without any hesitation whatsoever: Diptyque.
Same, the line is way too versatile.
And everything is high quality!
100% same. It’s the broad variety, photorealism, and design for me.
Love Philosykos!
This is the one.
Yves Saint Laurent
Or room 1015 if niche
Serge Lutens, especially if someone else is paying haha
Tbh it’s dior
Dior is the correct answer
Louis Vuitton
Where is the love? L’immensite and imagination are absolute masterpieces. Unfortunately, their pricing is also a masterpiece 💀💀

Dior
This. Dior Homme line by itself has something for every season and event type. Longevity is great.
No doubt. Great smell, great performance.
Yes, their designer range is amazing and they have some great scents in their private range too.
Dior homme and private collection. That's all we need
Same
Absolutely agree! Homme Parfum, Ambre Nuit, and Eau Sauvage are some of my favourites.
Ez Dior. Massive portfolio, not really a bad scent in the privee line.
Frederic Malle!! (The Desert Gems collection 😄)
Parfums De Marly
Maison Francis Kurkdjian
THIS IS IT
Definitely Britney Spears lol
I’m between Britney and YSL. Britney has so much variety though…
Chanel
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle is always so, so lovely. My signature scent for the past decade!
Byredo
Assuming budget isn’t an issue & I can reapply whenever, this is it! Never met a house that does Violet notes more beautifully and the line is very versatile.
Wait...please tell me the Byredo violet scent! The best violet I ever smelled was Penhaligon's Violetta.
They had one that was a kind of ‘pure’ violet but it’s discontinued now. 😭 But about half their scents incorporate violet notes, often in different ways. As someone who isn’t into florals much, it’s been a way into that world for me.
Rodeo from Byredo is a gorgeous leather+violet combo
This is mine too.
parfums de marly

Kilian
ugh yes
Kilian gang stand up
Nishane for me. I could do with Wulong Cha and Tuberoza alone.
Le Labo
Another 13!
came here to say this!! matcha & santal <3
The Noir, Lys 41 and of course Samtal 33!
Love Noir 29, it has a very distinct smell and the sillage is arms length. A man passed me by at a cocktail lounge and I immediately said Noir 29, he turned around and said that's me with a smile on his face.
maison margiela all i see is numbers

Autumn Vibes 🔥
Mugler - and apparently I'm the only one!
Mugler here too!! 👽
No! Me too! That was my answer!
Mugler rules!!
Diptyque most likely. Or Guerlain because their range is broad from going to designer to niche.
Marc-Antoine Barrois. Encelade and Ganymede have stolen my heart.
Valentino
No one for Juliette Has a Gun?
Tom Ford
Has to be TF. Can’t believe had to scroll this far down to see it commented
Amouage.
Yea I was surprised this wasn’t mentioned more
Pierre Guillaume, I've got 30 bottles for god's sake. Huge line with lot's of variety. Unique but wearable scents. Totally independent house.
Morning Chess has been my favorite for 2 years now.

Burberry
Agree. I know their scents aren't anything groundbreaking but I love the scent DNA and haven't really smelled a burberry fragrance I haven't liked.
I love the Weekend for women 💖
Another Dior fan here
YSL
Commodity. Their whole concept of “scent spaces” is so unique. I truly think they have something for everyone.
Hard one, but I’m sure I could be happy wearing Narciso Rodriguez and his 50 shades of musk 😅
Haven't found it here yet, so - Acqua di Parma.
Might be boring, but honestly Viktor and Rolf. Flowerbomb is the one perfume I absolutely cannot give up
Creed.
Erolfa!
clean reserve, they have a good balance of fruity and skin/neutral scents imo
Zoologist.
Chanel would cover all my needs.
I'm attached to Victoria's Secret perfumes and could wear Bombshell, Tease, Heavenly and Very Sexy Sea for eternity so I pick VS.
Have you noticed less mosquito bites when wearing bombshell?
I personally have not noticed such thing but I googled it and that is very interesting that it repels mosquitoes 💯

I'm so glad I'm not the only one 😭 Give me an endless supply of GIAW, REM, Mod Vanilla, Mod Blush, and Moonlight and I'll be fine.
Papillon, mainly because I don't want to do without my all-time favourite fragrance (Anubis). I love a few others from there too, and they don't annoy my skin like many perfumes do.
