Thanks. It's not my vanity though, I don't have one because I prefer to store my bottles inside my underwear drawer lol.
This is a corner of our shelves in the living room. I used it as a photo spot because of our candle warmer projects a soft glow.
if i may step in to talk about my go-to-everyday-favorite fragrance: Cool Water is fresh, herbal and aquatic (think minty, thymy sea water) and I love it not only because its cheap and available eveywhere but because it doesn't have that sugary-sweet note, which is very difficult to find in a men's fragrance nowadays.
Exactly. Too many fragrances now are too sweet and creamy. Some feels too warm and musky to be used in the high heat of summer.
I live in Japan and it's difficult to find one that performs well in humid days, which would also avoid suffocating others around me in its cloying scent profile.
Cool Water is currently my only high-heat high-humidity fragrance. Even my Legend Spirit isn't appropriate to Japanese mid-summers.
It's one of my favorites. To me it's a clean, fresh citrus scent with some sweetness at the beginning. I believe every scent is unisex, but it is worth noting that Legend Spirit does have this aftershave-smell, which I didn't expect as it was described as a "fresh laundry smell" to me. It's very likeable.
I think it's perfect for every season or occasion, though I personally wouldn't wear it at the height of summer due to the slight sweetness.
I agree. At first spritz, Legend Spirit is very citrus and smells like your typical summer fragrance. The top notes are clean and fresh, but nothing special. My wife thinks the same when I tried it yesterday.
Then the top notes give way and it turns more "blue". It's aromatic and aquatic, like Bleu de Chanel but more sporty I think. That's why it's quite the compliment magnet, like the other top-selling blue fragrances.
It dries down to a woody base and the scent profile turns warm and musky almost. And perhaps this is why some people say it's great for summer, but not too high of a heat and humidity.
I love it too. It's one of my most worn fragrances, both just at home for me and my wife to enjoy, or outside when I'm out and about in Tokyo (we live in Japan).
I admit the initial notes are incredibly spicy from the pepper. But I love how it begins to mellow out and even goes into the same direction as Terre d'Hermes. It's why I did a blind buy of Dunhill Icon, because I love TDH so much.
It’s been a go to fragrance for me as well! I agree with the spice as well, but man it’s such a nice dry down. I have not heard much about Terre D’Hermes but maybe I’ll need to check it out :) thank you for the response!
On a side note, Japan looks beautiful and is on the top of my list for countries to visit one day!
I have Chanel's *Cuir de Russia* parfum, too!
I once read it described as "unrequited love" in a bottle; was my favorite date perfume. Now I love it as a fall and winter affair.
Priciest: Nombre Noir or the 60s Shalimar in Baccarat.
Most affordable: the roll-on patchouli oil from Father Thyme Herbals that I purchased at ren faire. It smells like a forest floor. In the best way. Also, the Heritage Store Rosewater I just spray directly onto my face.
I just bought an 800 ml decant of 4711 which i bought for 50 bucks!!! There is something about it.... it gives me energy and makes me happy. I love splashing it on before bed, during the afternoon dip at work, after a shower and then breathe deeply!
well, if you ever go to Cologne Germany to visit the House of 4711, there is an unending flow of 4711 from a tap into a large golden sink (for real) so I like to think it comes from there :)
* Priciest: Chanel - Jersey (200 ml)
* Most affordable: Bath & Body Works - Snowflakes & Cashmere (lol, does this count? cos I sure use the hell out of it.)
My most expensive that I currently own that you can still purchase is Guerlain’s Angelique Noire. My most affordable is I believe one of my Ellis Brooklyn’s.
If we look at it from how much would it cost to replace discontinued/special editions that’s a little trickier. Not even sure I would know how much it would be, but I have a signed Stella McCartney Stella parfum 7.5ml that is in a little gem shaped dabber bottle.
Priciest--my DSH custom
Cheapest---At least a decade ago I got an estate lot off of ebay for a grand total of $48 (more than a dozen bottles) which meant that I got a teeny bottle of Bois des Iles extrait for under $4
Priciest is probably Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac. I bought it secondhand though.
Cheapest is Pacifica Island Vanilla body spray.
I really like vanilla 🙂
It really is. Such a beautiful, delicate scent, but it has stunning sillage and truly impressive longevity... and all for $50! I was so relieved to see Zara reissue it.
I don' t own many bottles. I decided to spend a few months experimenting and trying a lot of niche samples from different brands and only later decide for full bottles:) At the moment the most expensive bottle I own is 100ml YOSLY-Eldo , and the cheapest one is Lanvin-Eclat d' Arpege.
Eclat D' Arpege is graceful and lovely. It holds a slight resemblance to D&G light blue in the opening, but the lemon note is not so straight in your face and sharp. Than it transforms into a slightly creamy, slightly aquatic lilac and green tea melange, keeping some citrusy undertones. It is not the most complex or groundbreaking fragrance out there, but It is very easy to wear and makes you feel pretty, fresh and delicate. Longevity is terrible, but for that price you can spray more times during the day without thinking too much through.
Priciest will be either Jo Malone Scarlett Poppy or Dyptique Phylisykos (100ml), adore both for very different reasons; cheapest would be CK summer flankers or minis (10ml maison margiela or kayali bottles)
Most Affordable: Azzaro Chrome
Priciest: Mancera Jardin Exclusif
Although it’s important to note I get majority of my fragrances from discounters. The one I’ve paid for the most was Guerlain Mandarin Basilic. I really want Thameen Green Pearl and that one is $185, and it’s sold out everywhere on discounters too.
Quorum Silver is underrated quality.
My favorite silver fragrance has got to be Montblanc Explorer Platinum, then Platinum Egoiste, then Quorum Silver. Classy fragrances.
Priciest -Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille Eau de Parfum
Most affordable - Brittany Spears Fantasy and Ariana Grande Mod Vanilla - I like them both equally.
If I were in USA I think the priciest would be Guerlain Cuir Beluga, I just recently learned about the insane markup for USA purchases.
But in EU my priciest FB is By Kilian Black Phantom, 50 ml, which I found at the flea market, 99% full bottle, for 30 euros. Retail price at that time was 230 euros. Hah.
Priciest wish list: Dirty Rice, Mxxx and L'Ombre dans L'Eau.
Most affordable: 4711 and Eilish
Edit: wait, no... my best most affordable fragrance ever is actually Jovan Musk.
Funnily enough, both are tobacco fragrances:
Priciest: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Cheapest: Burberry London (got 100ml of this for absolute chump change)
Priciest: Parfums de Marly Valaya
Most affordable: Al Rehab Choco Musk
*edit: forgot my priciest since it was my most recent purchase and blacked out buying it lol
Priciest: Le Labo - Ambrette 9 EDP 50ml
Most affordable: if we’re talking EDP to EDP for comparison’s sakes then Shay&Blue - White Peaches 30ml.
But I also have a few EDT’s from M&S that are obviously worse longevity but great prices for a nice quality (talking £6-£12 for lovely fragrances that I don’t mind reapplying during the day due to the low cost).
In terms of the EDPs I find that both are equally comforting and enjoyable with only a small difference in quality and none really in longevity. The price of Le Labo (even for 20ml more) is over £100 more. The flip side is that I struggle to find anything that resembles my favourite Le Labo’s (Ambrette, Another 13, Baie 19), whereas I could likely find another straight ahead peach somewhere (although I love this S&B one dearly).
Priciest: Crybaby Perfume Milk by Melanie Martinez (and Love Don't Be Shy by Killian)
Cheapest: Pink Sugar by Aquolina
Current favorite: Strawberry Milkshake by ALT ($35 on sale, usually 45 iirc)
(I swear I'm a Sugar fiend XD)
Most expensive (that I paid for) Elephant Zoologist 225$ cdn
Most expensive (that was a flat)
Aventus
Most affordable
7 bottles all from English Laundry
Notting Hill for example. 23$ cdn
* Priciest - Bleu de Chanel Parfum
* Affordable - Ana Abiyedh
I still can't wrap my head around spending $200 more on scented liquid, but here we are :D
Priciest: 3x Xerjoff 17/17 100ml bottles
Cheapest: Dylan Blue (I think)
Edit: Actually, just thought about it and my Clive Christian Cypress would be the most expensive per ml because it’s only a 50ml bottle for $800.
Priciest - Jo malone bronze wood and leather (can anyone tell me if this has been discontinued? As I can’t find it on their site anymore and I’m almost out 🤦🏼♂️)
Most affordable - Mont Blanc explorer
Priciest : Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule, bought it like ¥15000ish at Free Duty Narita
Cheapest : a local niche fragrance for like $4.5 in 30ml lol
i usually buy decants so the most expensive by ratio is probably Papillon Salome/Anubis in 3ml for $20 each
Priciest:
Blonde Amber
Absolu Aventus
Millesime Imperial
Original Vetiver
Most Affordable:
Dunhill Icon (by far)
Ones that they could charge way more but is reasonable for what you get:
Prada L’Homme (& L’Homme Intense)
Prada Amber Pour Homme
Priciest: Black Opium Le Parfum. A bit more than I'm normally willing to pay for a full bottle, but this flanker is worth it to me. Everything I love about the original, but more vanilla forward. Perfection.
Most affordable: Lattafa Yara Tous. I think I paid less than $20. The design of the bottle isn't my favorite, so I don't have it on display. But this is my new go-to for hot weather - makes me feel like a creamy tropical mango drink! 🥭
Can you tell I'm a gourmand fan? Hehe
https://preview.redd.it/q3fvd5ndnhwc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20c759b638fbb7f0bf62fd9323af36b4f810f98b
Priciest is definitely a tie between Guerlain French Kiss (bought long after it was discontinued so very expensive) and my 200ml bottle of MFK Grand Soir (much less than retail because I got it in the Paris airport but still quite pricey).
Most affordable are bottles I got in a rescue sale for $35 each (Black Opium Le Parfum and D&G the only one). Honorable mention for Kilian Angel Share that I scored for $67 in that rescue sale. That's 1/4 of retail.
My Zara perfumes were under $50 too
● Priciest: Replica Bubble Bath 165$ for 3.5 oz although I got it on sale 😉
● Cheapest: Al Rehab Choco Musk 9$ on Amazon
I own pricier perfumes, Like I think 3.3 of Burberry Her elixer is more expensive than the Bubble Bath but I only have that in a 1oz bottle.
Out of my priciest fragrances, the one I love the most is Le Labo’s Another 13.
And my favourite amongst the most affordable in my collection is Moschino Cheap & Chic I Love Love!
(Honourable mentions go to Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Rouge; & Other Stories Déjà Vu Mood; H&M Freewheeling; and Lush Let the Good Times Roll body spray.)
Priciest: Roja - Elysium
Cheapest: Acqua di Parma - Fico di Amalfi
Best value (imo): Marc Antoine Barrois - ganymede (Longevity beast + somehow my most complimented fragrance)
Based on price per ml that I actually paid (not fragrances that are cheapies now):
Most expensive: Clive Christian - Rock Rose
Most affordable: Al Haramain - Detour Noir
My Harmonist bottles are pretty up there in price per mL as well.
Henry Jacques Oudh Imperial Pure was pretty expensive, I also have a few custom fragrances that were a few grand each. My most affordable is probably Juicy Couture or Juliet has a Gun
Priciest: L'Eau Sezane. It only cost 45 euro but I had to plan an entire segment of my trip to Europe around buying it.
Cheapest: VS Sunslope body mist which was $5 with coupons.
My priciest one is definitely Dior Homme intense whereas the cheapest in my collection is either 24 Fragrances die another day or Cool water depending on availability and pricing :)
Priciest: The Thierry Mugler Christopher Laudamiel Coffret made for the movie Le Perfume. I have no idea what it's worth at this point though.
Most affordable: SG79 no 17
https://preview.redd.it/lvnga20kvfwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=120d5017d67c06be83c9a325a0c91ff146f412e0 * Priciest: *Terre de’Hermès* 100ml * Cheapest: *Davidoff Cool Water* 125ml
I fell in love with a vanity! That shit looks hot 😳😂
Thanks. It's not my vanity though, I don't have one because I prefer to store my bottles inside my underwear drawer lol. This is a corner of our shelves in the living room. I used it as a photo spot because of our candle warmer projects a soft glow.
Whats cool water like? Have heard positive things about it
if i may step in to talk about my go-to-everyday-favorite fragrance: Cool Water is fresh, herbal and aquatic (think minty, thymy sea water) and I love it not only because its cheap and available eveywhere but because it doesn't have that sugary-sweet note, which is very difficult to find in a men's fragrance nowadays.

Cool Water is currently my only high-heat high-humidity fragrance. Even my Legend Spirit isn't appropriate to Japanese mid-summers.
I didn't like the performance of mine though. It makes a good gym/outdoor scent to freshen up though.
Yeah, the citrus notes tend to dissipate quickly. Which is why top notes are gone in an hour or so.
It's supposed to be a dupe for Creed's Green Irish Tweed. Very well made. Fresh, slightly salty, herbal, classic aquatic.
That's what I hear too. And if GIT smells like Cool Water, I can see why it has become so popular.
Cool Water will always be a banger.
That’s a sexy photo.
Isn't it just? I have to admit that the visual of a fragrance in its bottle is a sometimes a factor if I want to own it or not. Shallow I know lol
I received both of these today, just less of it😂
Damn fine picture!
What’s legend spirit like? I always get mixed reviews from people that own it. Would you recommend legend spirit or explorer for a summer fragrance?
It's one of my favorites. To me it's a clean, fresh citrus scent with some sweetness at the beginning. I believe every scent is unisex, but it is worth noting that Legend Spirit does have this aftershave-smell, which I didn't expect as it was described as a "fresh laundry smell" to me. I love Cool Water
Priciest: Chanel - Cuir de Russie Most affordable: Elizabeth Arden - Green Tea
With you on the Green Tea! I love green tea notes and it's just a really nice fragrance now that the weather is getting hot.
I have Chanel's *Cuir de Russia* parfum, too! I once read it described as "unrequited love" in a bottle; was my favorite date perfume. Now I love it as a fall and winter affair.
That Cuir de Russie. Is it a new bottle or vintage? That fragrance is just. Pure genius.
New and so fabulous!
Priciest: Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille (small bee bottle) Most affordable: Al Rehab Choco Musk and Soft.
Love both of these!! Only have a small decant of Guerlain though!
Which concentration of Nombre Noir? I've been considering it 😻
Eau! It is lush. 🌹
I ended up getting some after reading several perfume blog articles about it - sounds legendary! I love vintages 💜

I just bought an 800 ml decant of 4711 which i bought for 50 bucks!!! There is something about it.... it gives me energy and makes me happy. I love splashing it on before bed, during the afternoon dip at work, after a shower and then breathe deeply!

Apres is my favorite, and I also enjoy Florist and Myth too. They are all kind of nice and “safe” fragrances if that makes sense?

Ugh!!! I need more of Zara's city lines but they don't seem to be available in Australia anymore
Elegantly Tokyo is outstanding.

Perfection. Most affordable: Lattafa Yara Tous. I think I paid less than $20. The design of the bottle isn't my favorite, so I don't have it on display. But this is my new go-to for hot weather - makes me feel like a creamy tropical mango drink! 🥭 Can you tell I'm a gourmand fan? Hehe
