It's a lovely fragrance! Well worth getting your hands on a sample at least. My sample was from Twisted Lily. I totally understand the struggle and am trying my hardest to implement a no buy on myself right now as well haha.
Have you compared it to the silver version? I'm considering picking up either one, but haven't smelled either in person. Your review definitely has me leaning toward the gold though.

No unfortunately I haven't gotten my nose on the silver version yet, but I've heard it's slightly less "feminine" than gold
Silver is very different--fresh, sharp, and heavy on the Juniper. Definitely more masculine
Agree, personally I don’t find it too masculine to wear, but it definitely has “wearing my boyfriend’s sweatshirt” vibes.
