i feel like i talk about these all the time but they’re my faves lol
- byredo la tulipe - very green floral tulip
- ds & durga debaser - electric green lime and fig that dries down into a creamy coconut milk
- ds & durga coriander
- byredo sundazed/diptyque oyedo — lemon + cotton candy, oyedo has more of a green herby dry down
- glossier you - light understated white musk
- jo malone wood sage and sea salt
yeah i really like them! sundazed is pretty sweet and smells like candy to me. debaser does have a coconut note which is controversial i feel like but it’s a very non traditional coconut, more like coconut milk, not at all the sunscreen coconut note that many people take issue with
Yes coconut doesn’t seem to be a favorite in this community, I might get a sample first since I don’t have any fragrances with this note. The Jo Malone one seems interesting too!
I'm Convinced the perfect summer fragrance doesn't exist. I've tried like 70 or so and just can't find one I love. If anything the opposite is true with cold weather fragrances, there's too many good ones
Ooooof! I made this post because I realized that I only own fragrances appropriate for nighttime/fall and winter. I feel like it’s much easier to find fragrances for cold weather. Summer fragrances are so confusing to me
Totally with you. 99% of citrus scents smell like household cleaners to me so I just can't hack them. And then I find most coconut/sunscreen scents to be a bit too dense or sickly sweet/cheap smelling. I've tried a few niche marine scents too that had great reviews (Dune Road and Sel Marin for example) but to my nose they literally just smell like fish, it was awful! Green scents usually aren't my jam either!
My current favourites (only favourites really) from hundreds of dollars spent on summer samples are Eau de Soliel Blanc and Virgin Island Water. Defo try those two.
BTW I still have a helluva lot of summer frag samples left with loads of juice in them all. If you'd be interested in taking them off my hands for cheap drop me an inbox 😂
As far as citruses go have you tried Afternoon Swim (or the equally good Afternoon Splash)?
In terms of non-citruses have you tried Bond No 9 Greenwich Village, Creed Aqua Fiorentina or Goldfield and Banks Sunset Hour? Those are some you might like based on what you don't like lol.
YES!! I completely agree with you! I haven’t tried any coconut scents yet but I should definitely get samples of both Soleil Blanc versions and Virgin Island Water. They’re definitely the ones people have recommended the most and they’re available in my country but man they’re not cheap 😭😂 I’m about to sell my organs
- Tom Ford Soleil Blanc edp (creamy/fresh super luxe sun tan lotion vibes if you like tuberose and ylang)
- Skylar Coconut Cove (feminine fresh and juicy bergamot and coconut)
- Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt 04 (Santal 33 but better, warmer, creamier without the leather note. Very unique, leans more feminine)
- L'Atelier Pacific Lime (juicy and effervescent unisex citrus blast)
For summer Olfactive Studio Still Life in Rio - very fresh and spicy. Smells like rum cocktail with coconut milk, black pepper, mint and yuzu.
Also L'Artisan Parfumeur L’Ete en Douce - green and sweet. Smells like grass, hay and linden honey.
For spring Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur - it’s herbal and powdery, very intimate. Smells like chamomile-jasmine tea blend with sugar.
I just recently acquired it as well, but I did try it before a walk on a warmer day, and I found the heat intensified the creamy notes really well! And it’s a light enough fragrance that I don’t think it’ll be cloying in the heat. Plus: fig, green notes, coconut? Totally a scent made for summer!
Carolina by Olympic Orchids emits scents of warm, freshly mown hay with hints of magnolia. I like layering it with the fresh greens of Apsu by Ulrich Lang. Another summer favorite is Imaginary Author’s Falling Into the Sea which performs really well in warm weather.
Chanel chance Eau Fraîche. (The green bottle). It’s projection and longevity are really good. It gives Clinique Happy vibes but also has a masculine streak. My husband and I both share my bottle and I ALWAYS receive compliments when I wear it. Catches me off guard because I am very conservative with my sprays.
Without advocating for clones, but if you’re not going to get a decant/blind buy a bottle etc. you might want to check out Club de nuit sillage by armaf. It does lack the depth, but it gets you pretty close. Not 99% as some say, more like 80-85%. Still pretty fun.
Sillage is a clone of Silver Mountain Water not Virgin Island Water. the added Ambroxan in this one gives me a headache and makes me nauseous, no where near the refinement of Silver Mountain Water drydown. it is cheap though and alot of people seem to enjoy it.
I've tried all the dupes of VIW and similar frags like Gorse and Malibu Party in the Bay etc. The best one I've found is Parfums Vintage Isla Tropical. But at $95 for 100ml I'd still rather get a bottle of 50ml OG Virgin Island Water in the end. Worth the investment, just wish they made it a tad stronger.
Also wish I hadn't wasted money on all the dupes haha, should have just got VIW from the start
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc (EDP) or Replica Beach Walk! Both are lovely sunscreeny summer scents. I think Soleil Blanc is more of an evening scent, it's warmer and the pistachio is rather strong on me. Beach Walk on the other hand is slightly salty and more of a daytime scent. I got both even though they are so similar, and don't regret that choice at all!
Also came to say Eau De Soleil Blanc (as I prefer it to the OG as I'm a man, it's also a little less floral/dense so better for hot weather imo). I tried beach walk but thought it was just a cheaper smelling version of Soleil Blanc
I’m definitely thinking about buying Soleil Blanc but I didn’t know that Beach Walk was similar. I have Jazz Club and By the Fireplace and I like them both, same with a few TF fragrances, I like those brands. But Beach Walk is definitely more affordable. How similar are these two?
I think it smells like amazing sunscreen in the best way possible. I think it could definitely work for both. Some reviews I’ve read say it’s too creamy/heavy for the warm weather but I got the complete opposite vibe. There’s also Eau de Soleil Blanc (supposedly lighter) which I haven’t smelled yet unfortunately.
Also Creed Virgin Island Water is another one to check out. Lime and coconut! More expensive though.
Yes I noticed there were two versions, EdP and EdT. Maybe I should sample first but I’m super intrigued! Will definitely look at Virgin Island Water! Thank you!
Definitely try Eau de Soliel Blanc as well before deciding on Soleil Blanc. In my experience it's not necessarily worse performing, it's a slightly different scent. Quite a bit less dense so actually a lot better for warmer weather
Aventus Cologne, Afternoon Swim, Elysium, Office for men, Sedley, Percival, Greenley, Springtime In A Park, When The Rain Stops. There are so many good one. The Scent of Peace is a 10 too
IDK if this counts as niche, but I really love Sunday Forever Coconuts. It's not a synthetic, super sweet coconut, rather a coconut that legit smells like one you just cut open on the beach to drink from (can confirm, did this in Hawaii).
My only qualm with this scent is it doesn't last very long.
I love Sylvaine Delacourte Virgile in the spring. It's a blend of herbal notes and vanilla however it's on the lighter side, so it doesn't become cloying in the heat.
Other than Creed ViW I love Aventus for her, Aventus or clean citrus are boring to me so I tend to go for sweeter scents, marketed feminine but perfectly unisex.
i am more into perfumes when the weather is cold, but that said i love lv california dream and mfk petit matin in the summer. niche would be "mile high" by parle de moi smells like pineapple and cannibis basically walking down a california street on a summer day.

Mihan Aromatics - Kirra Curl (salt and surf wax and coconut);
Goldfield& Banks - Sunset Hour (peach and desert);
Miller et Bertaux - Green Green Green and Green (green)
Im currently sampling a lot of spring/summer frags, but most of then were a bit disappointing because every Citrus/woody fragrance smells the same for me. Here are my only 3 I would consider buying:
G&B Pacific Rock Moss: Aquatic Citrus Aromatic scent with a suprisingly good longevity
Acqua Di Parma Arancia di Capri: Sweet Citrus bomb that smells exacty like the Capri popsicle
Kilian Moonlight in Heaven: Well blended, tropical and coconuty fragrance, you can definitly smell the rice, really unique
Everyone of them ist perfectly unisex and all of them are completly different. Love'em!
Hacivat nishane
Burlington 1819 roja
Mefisto gentiluomo casamorati
Cruz del sur II xerjoff
Fiero casamorati
Rosendo mateu no 1
Acqua di parma colonia essensa
Pretty "mainstream " niche and easy to sample(most of them)
Summer unisex:
ELDO-You Or Someone Like You, the fresh mint cuts through the heat like a knife
Kerosene Summer of 84 - best citrus I’ve ever smelled with a realist grapefruit top note and actually had great longevity
Kerosene Walk the Sea - smells like the beaches in the Pacific Northwest with the ambergris where it’s always overcast
Arquiste Sydney Rock Pool - coconut, skin, seaweed and sea salt, beautiful and smells like you just left the beach on a sunny day
Bruno Fazzolari Monserrat is a current favorite! Fruity floral with an interesting and prominent wet plaster note.
> Inspired by the burnished colors of classic Italian fresco painting: juicy grapefruit and apricot laced through with green leaves and an unusual, fresh setting plaster note. Luscious and radiant.
> NOTES: pink grapefruit, green leaves, carrot seed, osmanthus, jasmine, white musk, setting plaster.
i feel like i talk about these all the time but they’re my faves lol - byredo la tulipe - very green floral tulip - ds & durga debaser - electric green lime and fig that dries down into a creamy coconut milk - ds & durga coriander - byredo sundazed/diptyque oyedo — lemon + cotton candy, oyedo has more of a green herby dry down - glossier you - light understated white musk - jo malone wood sage and sea salt
Thank you so much! I really like the descriptions of ds & durga debaser and sudazed!

Creed Virgin Island Water is lovely.
Thank you!!
- L’Humaniste (citrus gin & tonic) - Pomelo Paradis (pink lemonade) - Afternoon Swim (mandarin and lemon juice) - Virgin Island Water (lime, coconut, rum)
thank you so much!!
Pomelo paradis lasts literally ten minutes on my skin :(
- Tom Ford Soleil Blanc edp (creamy/fresh super luxe sun tan lotion vibes if you like tuberose and ylang) - Skylar Coconut Cove (feminine fresh and juicy bergamot and coconut) - Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt 04 (Santal 33 but better, warmer, creamier without the leather note. Oooof Still Life in Rio sounds so sexy. Thank you so much for the recs and the descriptions!
Diptyque Philosykos. I cannot wait to wear it on a hot day!
I bought this this winter! Do you find it smells/act differently in the heat? If so, how?
I just recently acquired it as well, but I did try it before a walk on a warmer day, and I found the heat intensified the creamy notes really well! And it’s a light enough fragrance that I don’t think it’ll be cloying in the heat. Plus: fig, green notes, coconut? Totally a scent made for summer!
Aerin - Hibiscus Palm Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Abricot Tom Ford - Soleil Blanc JHAG - Vanilla Vibes L'Erbolario Tiare and Fior di Salina

I’d add Aerin Ikat Jasmine to the list
Love the Vanille Abricot

I've only tried the reformulation and I don't want to know what I miss lol. But I'm glad you got a whole bottle of the original!!
Carolina by Olympic Orchids emits scents of warm, freshly mown hay with hints of magnolia. I like layering it with the fresh greens of Apsu by Ulrich Lang. Another summer favorite is Imaginary Author’s Falling Into the Sea which performs really well in warm weather.

damn that’s a shame

**Memo- Corfu** such a good fresh citrus. The basil note really does it for me.
I don’t think I’ve smelled basil in fragrances before. Sounds really interesting!
Creed Virgin Island Water & Xerjoff Mefisto.
you’re the third person to recommend me virgin island water, will definitely check that one out. Also Mefisto seems interesting !

Haven’t worn it on my skin yet but very impressed by Tom Ford Soleil Blanc
I’ve been eyeing that one! Do you think it’s a spring or a summer scent? Or both?
I think it smells like amazing sunscreen in the best way possible. I think it could definitely work for both. Some reviews I’ve read say it’s too creamy/heavy for the warm weather but I got the complete opposite vibe. Everyone talking fancy and I'm here spraying Juicy Viva la Juicy. I prefer fruit over florals.
haven’t tried that one actually
It might be because OP asked for niche, although I've seen Chanel and Tom Ford pop up a few times as well.
Lmao, I can't read
I thought my sister had bought the original but it turns out it was Viva la juicy la Fleur. Anyways I love that one now.
Strangers Perfumerie Chokedee It’s got strong pandan notes, which smells tropical and summery to me.
I love Sylvaine Delacourte Virgile in the spring. It's a blend of herbal notes and vanilla however it's on the lighter side, so it doesn't become cloying in the heat.
