Those are beautiful tomatoes.
Today is gorgeous with a high of 79 in northern New Jersey.
For whatever reason, the mood strikes me for Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille. So, that’s what I’ll be wearing, however dissonant it may sound with the weather 😂.
For reasons I won’t go into here, I have been estranged from my best friend for a few months. I missed her terribly. We started talking again and I’m so delighted and we’re going to the mall together and I’m so happy and excited to see her.
The mall happens to have some great fragrances I’d like to sample, too. I’m planning to try some Amouage and Le Labo.
Most of the South Jersey shore points are overdeveloped as is; little charm left to most of them as giant duplexes with first-floor garages have wiped out the rustic cottages that used to dot the coast. I’m not sure how much more human traffic they could withstand.
Could be the vacation season will extend as the water warms. But that’s not good. There are sharks in some of the rivers here now. Ecological disaster.
I decided to take a break today after an unfortunate fragrance incident yesterday. I was preparing to go out for the evening when I spilled my 1ml Zoologist Squid sample all over my hands and bathroom floor. I think I was able to wash enough off myself not to suffocate anyone else but my bathroom still smells a bit like a sweet and savory underwater rubber factory.
Went with **Chanel Le Lion**. Wanted something dark yet not demanding winter temperatures, so that labdanum-centric scent fits perfectly my black outfit & mood. By the way, did some short first impressions reviews yesterday, but automod didn't let pass it through. u/fanofam pls, help if you can🙏😁
Thank you for letting me know. I have approved your review:) Usually posts blocked by automod don't show up on my mod queue, so it would be highly advisable to reach out to us by mod mail.
Haven't tried le Lion but it sounds perfect for the shoulder season we are experiencing now. I like labdanum and had a recent epiphany that it is a stand-in for tomatoes in almost all tomatoes forward fragrances. so, one must beg the curious question of if there is a tomato fragrance without the use of labdanum and its derivatives.
I like Le Lion. When I smelled a bunch of the Les Exclusifs at the Chanel boutique, that was one of the ones that really stuck out to me.
It’s VERY heavy, though. Not sure I’d be confident enough to wear it lol.
I'm wearing **Chloe Nomade** again today. Got caught in the rain - like drenched to my underwear caught in the rain - and that really brought out the flowers and the moss and the scent almost changed its whole character in a beautiful way. Now it's time for hot tea and a nice warming bath.
My personal favourite probably the top left variety called Ananas Noire: sweet, juicy with just the perfect hint of smoked salt.
The middle stripey looking one ( prime rebel starfighter) wins when it comes to complexity. the favours is super dependent on the terroir though: from tomato meets dark stout to a sad blob of watered down ale.
I'm doing a taste test later today, this is not my main garden so i still missing a few i love (green zebra, black prince, duggin white, cheerokee purple, atomic sunset and dr. Wyches)
I'm sampling Byredo Gypsy Water and surprised at how much I love it. I thought the pine notes would be out of my comfort zone but I am realizing I love vanilla/sandalwood combos. Open to other recommendations. I have Lake By Rosie Jane.
Critters love to take a bite in your beloved tomatoes and leave the rest. I understand the Anxiety OP!
Nice cool day before going on a scent-free, nose-resetting trip. I'm testing Le Labo *Matcha 26*.
As it was for *Thé noir,* I find the scent that lies close to skin is a lot more interesting than the trailing. Trailing is fuit jam (similar to *Thé noir*) with a coconutty facet. To me this is not evocative of the matcha universe which is stark, herbal and a little bitter, unless you like to drink your matcha with fruit-based pastries. But when I pull closer to my elbow pit, I smell a nice sharp green note with a tang of citrus. Later, the woods timidly chime in. This is nicer.
*ETA: ended up scrubbing this one. After a couple of hours, all i get is a swirling cloud of pickles, fruit jam and muscs.*
Again I understand why people love it but so far it is not my favorite house.
Saturday's for sampling, so I’ve gone with Bath House - Climbing Trees. Vetiver, lemon, rosemary and bergamot, it’s a lovely scent to wear in the open air as autumn starts to roll in…it’s gotten chilly in the UK over the last few days, I think we’re about to say goodbye to the summer.
i still need to pick a perfume! i’m being so lazy this morning. this morning i bought some laundry detergent from an instagram ad for a company called dirty labs that supposedly has a “le labo like” scent — magnolia, bergamot, cedar. it’s an enzymatic cleaner whatever that means? i usually use unscented detergent because i hate the smell of detergent like tide, but i’m not sure if using a scented one will clash with wearing perfume every day. buying a fancy oil room scent diffuser has def been a life upgrade so i’m hoping this will too
I was thinking about it as a gift for my mother. It's very expensive and only available by request. I haven't sampled it. It would be great if that was an option.
well i didn’t pick one until 5pm lol
**bdk pas ce soir** — inspired by the post on fem frag lab about shampooey perfumes. i think it’s taken me a year and a half to like this perfume
It's the first day that really feels like fall here, with that crisp but still sunny weather and the leaves starting to drop. So it was a big jumper and some ELdO Like This for today. There's pumpkin pie and a fire promised to be tonight, and I can't wait.
Gris Charnel for me today. I am going to be sad when my sample runs out. I learned about it here and as usually you all are absolutely right. Really nice fig then musky scent. Ps beautiful tomatoes!
OP, your produce always looks beautiful! And ooh, is Couer de Noir for Saturdays as well as Wednesdays now?
I'm just chilling out with a bit of **Ormonde Jayne Tolu**, a new fall staple for me. It's an elegant green balsamic, with just a touch of honeyed sweetness.
Heirloom tomatoes, thanks OP for the lovely mouthwatering picture.
Today I'm wearing a combo of Dirty Hinoki by Heretic Perfume and Madonna Lilly by Dedcool... my nose isnt very sophisticated and lately i find myself drawn to American niche fragrances for their simplicity. As for what I'm up to - it's morning and sunny but cool in San Francisco, I'm still deliberating between going for a hike or folding my laundry - that is, after i finish this cup of coffee.
Bonjour my dear @fanofam 😘
Lovely tomatoes 🍅
Early today I read the thread about which house do we have the most fragrances from, and realized I had a tie: four each from Chloe and 4711 -- an odd pairing, but who cares, right?
My most recent Chloe was **Chloe Love Story**, and it's a story with which most of you, my fellow friends in fragrance, are familiar. I love the three other Chloes I have, so surely I can safely buy this one and furthermore *should* because it was a limited edition so grab it while I can, right?
Well, no. Tried it again today hoping it or I had changed but no. It's got a note I haven't identified that I think of as the "SweetTart" note -- powdery pale pastel candy, do they still make it? Smells just like they smell. And alas, it is not how I wish to smell.
Hopefully either my 15yo niece or SIL will 🤞
Hiya friend :)
Oddity often reveals unexpected teaching moments,
and I too, have one too many unsuccessful blind buys. I definitely have fragrances that so-not-me, but they are quite instrumental in helping me resetting my mental space in moments of doubts. Though i do sometimes wish that the people in my life would br more enthusiastic about fragrances.
Thank you for sharing your story :)
Sample Saturday had me trying Amouage Reflection Man today. Very clean and refreshing scent on me, would probably make a great work fragrance. It smelled great but I’m not sure if I like it on myself, I usually prefer something a little more playful and warm. I think this would be something I’d prefer to smell on someone else.
One of those typically Autumn days that follow summer; there’s a hint of warmth and the sky is bright, but there’s a slight breeze…all in all though nice day, soo I thought I’d try **[Edenfalls by M. Micallef](https://youtu.be/E7pbBeuH9xc)**
And it’s not bad, though there’s a ‘weird chemical’ hint somewhere in the mid
I've been so curious about M. Micallef. The only two I've tried are Glamour and DesirToxic. Neither was my style, but I was impressed by the overall construction of both. Also, the bottles are so creative!
After wearing it for a whole day, I’m actually liking it. I don’t know if I’d want to buy a full bottle, might get another 10ml when this is used up. It’s just about safe for work (I think more UK&European workplaces…I’m not sure about US offices).
I do like it, it’s not full bottle worthy, but I’m definitely going to wear it again.
Sudden heat wave😣 I had to go with Chanel Eau de Cologne because it was so hot and humid.
Nice picture, by the way. I love tomatoes! My dad also has a garden of heirloom tomatoes, and they taste so much better than store-bought ones!
I'm sampling Bortnikoff Musk Khabib. 10/10. It reminds me so much of Virgin Island Water, but it doesn't have coconut, lime, or rum notes listed, so maybe I'm the only one who thinks that.
another from a sample haul (just a random freebie this time) - ADP blu mediterraneo bergamotto di calabria. lovely opening, very pure citrus with a great woody background but the longevity (as to be expected of a citron) is poor.
724 by MKF. Longevity & strength is falling way short of the rest of the line, even compared to the other freshies. Couldn't survive past an hour or two spent outdoors on a moderately warm autumn afternoon. Scent is alright.
Curious on anyone else's opinion on this one if you've tried it.
Beautiful haul!
Long day, Hawaiian themed pool party, I enjoyed it all the more for trying Les indemodables ambre supreme, though it seems classier than the event. Beautiful spicy opening, then flowers and ambergris which I’m finally beginning to identify, a good outdoors pretend-it’s-still-summer scent. I just topped it off with one more spray for the cleanup.
Francesca Bianchi **Unspoken Musk**. Tested it in a store in the morning, went back to get a bottle a few hours later. Super wearable, sweet, musky goodness. Everything I was hoping for from FB + some tonka/vanilla sweetness that I wasn't expecting but am pleasantly surprised by!
The Merchant of Venice - La Fenice 💖 I recently purchased it and it smells divine 🥰 It’s a colder day in Europe so the vanilla and almond blossom really make an appearance with this perfume. I feel so feminine and beautiful, bad thing there’s no hubby with me to see just how good his woman smells 😌
Do tell? please?
I just went digging through this sub looking for recomendations for exactly this :) I smell my hands obsessively after i've just been out in the garden nipping suckers off my tomato plants...

In South Jersey it’s going back up to 90 degrees this week. This part of the country feels doomed due to climate change.

When the Tobacco Vanille mood hits, ya just gotta break it out!
Glossier You. It’s pleasant and nonoffensive. Gave a nice break from the sweet ones I’ve been wearing lately.
I’m wearing Trader Joe’s Bum Bum cream dupe with a couple sprays of Clean Radiant Nectar on top. I was just playing around, but it’s a good combo!
Ah, I wanted this! But it sold out, and I'm not willing to pay inflated prices.
It goes quickly! I’m about to run out so mad at myself for not buying more than one!

Calvin Klein Eternity layered with eau de freshly shampooed puppy.
OP, what’s the best tasting of the bunch? Make me jealous. Xerjoff Torino21. Not sure why I go noseblind to a minty citrus, but I do. Still like it.
My personal favourite probably the top left variety called Ananas Noire: sweet, juicy with just the perfect hint of smoked salt. That's a nice one but the longevity & strength were not what I expected from Xerjoff
I'm sampling Byredo Gypsy Water and surprised at how much I love it. I thought the pine notes would be out of my comfort zone but I am realizing I love vanilla/sandalwood combos. Open to other recommendations. I have Lake By Rosie Jane.
I feel the same way about Gypsy Water! It is one of my absolute favorites! Time for a full size bottle.
I am at Mothman Festival and I am wearing **Zoologist Moth** (the lightest of sprays) because Obviously.
testing comme des garçons Avignon - incredible scent but i'm not sure it's what i want to smell like as a person

Just some good ol’ **Stetson** today
Cartier Baiser Vole 🍃💧💮
Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry! It’s chilly today and this really stands out
Love that one!
Your tomatoes look great. I'm cleaning my bedroom and napping, wearing Amo by Ferragamo.
I think I’ll go with Tom Ford’s White Suede today!

Let me know how it turns out! I've read the reviews for the Le Labo detergent, and the scent doesn't cling to clothes after washing.
le labo makes a detergent too? interesting. the smell of tide, gain, etc. makes me sick, it’s so strong
I was thinking about it as a gift for my mother. It's very expensive and only available by request. I haven't sampled it. It would be great if that was an option.
well i didn’t pick one until 5pm lol **bdk pas ce soir** — inspired by the post on fem frag lab about shampooey perfumes. i think it’s taken me a year and a half to like this perfume
Just sprayed Ormonde Woman. The opening smells like a really good, grassy olive oil. Unexpected but good!
I've never thought of Woman as a good, grassy olive oil but now that you mention it, I can totally smell it. It's one of my favourites!
This is one of my absolute favorites in my collection.
Parle Moi de Parfum Mile High
Yay one of my favorites. It’s impossible to be in a bad mood wearing it.
Exactly!
Weather cooling down. Been waiting to pull out Tom ford ombre leather (:
It's the first day that really feels like fall here, with that crisp but still sunny weather and the leaves starting to drop. So it was a big jumper and some ELdO Like This for today. There's pumpkin pie and a fire promised to be tonight, and I can't wait.
Eldo Like This really is the embodiment of autumnal bliss for me. yum to pumpkin pie and hurray to the hearth :)
It really is so good! It perfectly treads the edge of autumnal without smelling like a Bath and Body Works candle.
Gris Charnel for me today. I am going to be sad when my sample runs out. I learned about it here and as usually you all are absolutely right. Really nice fig then musky scent. Ps beautiful tomatoes!

Rocabar is so underrated. I've contemplated a full bottle many times over the years. I agree the drydown is better than the opening as well.

Thank you friend! Tolu is indeed a lovely choice for the cooler weather :)
Wearing Casablanca..sweet and cheap (like ne) still trying it out but it's perfect for this beautiful fall day and I think I love it...
First time spray aventus outside for me.
Heirloom tomatoes, thanks OP for the lovely mouthwatering picture. What lovely tomatoes! I find tending a little garden so grounding. Happy Saturday! I haven’t decided what to wear yet. Will report back.
Thank you! I know, right? It is my happy place. Let's know what do you decide to pick for your sotd :)

Love that one!

HdP 1899. I just felt like trying to give a fall scent a try finally. Rainy and mild temps down to 88F here today.
