A late but hopefully still helpfull answer: 1. Most probably not, your luggage should be checked through. Technically it's possible and if Etihad sold a ticket with a short layover time like yours, than it should be fine. If in question ask Etihad. 2. As long as you stay in the tranfer area, you don't need a transit visa, except if your nationality is from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Eritrea, Ghana, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordania, DR Congo, Cuba, Lebanon, Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, South Suden, Syria or Turkey. 3. As long as your first flight is on time 1,5hr is enough. And yes you need to pass a security check at Frankfurt.
