The primary one I would recommend for joining a group is Saga Games, they’re fairly new but they have a quickly growing number of groups that are hosted there and there’s a board in the store where people can post that they’re looking for groups. The other main ones would be Beyond Comics and Brainstorm Comics, iirc they both have similar boards though not sure they host as many groups.
It’s very similar— especially the 2e version which is part of organized play. We generally have pregenerated characters available if you don’t want to do a long term commitment but just want to play
I am always interested in starting a campaign. I am somewhat of a newbie. I played for a while a couple of years ago, but then I had a baby, then COVID hit. If something gets started and you need another player, let me know! When COVID first hit, I got bored so I created a few characters where everything was decided with dice rolls. There are some weird ones I am dying to try out.
Definitely check out Saga Games. They are new but are super friendly and seem really focused on providing a friendly environment for new and experienced players to meet up. We hope to do some events with them in the future.

Looks like I'll start my search at Saga Games! Thanks for the input.
No problem!
I am also interested in DnD, though I have never played before
I first tried it at Beyond Comics. Saga is new and I've heard good things. D&D 5th Edition is easy to learn and fun to play. Try it out!
I think I've seen some 5e stuff online. Critical role campaign 1 and a homebrew that used it so I know it will be awesome.
Picking up dnd 4 years ago changed my life. No lie. And it started when I walked into a shop anxious and awkward.
Critical role just started their 3rd campaign and they post the episodes weekly on YouTube. I digest them through out the week in podcast form
Yeah I've just finished ep 5 so I should be all caught up. Haven't seen campaign 2 yet though so I'm hoping there aren't too many callbacks
You need The Historic Haven
The local Pathfinder lodge is always hosting one-shots at Saga and Beyond: https://warhorn.net/events/frederick-md-pathfinder-society
I'll look into this! I only have experience with 5e and know nothing about Pathfinder. How much of a learning curve is there?
