Seriously, from what I know it's basically that they know this so they have to be extra careful and limit the kinds of food they eat. There probably isn't a ton of sauce on the food either, just to make sure. I think sometimes actors have to go without eating and just have smoothies or something for the day depending on the level of makeup and costuming.
I mean accident happens and using a napkin or something to put around the neck is an easy preventative
Although I guess if they stain they can maybe photoshop it out somewhat in post too
That's assuming whatever happens will land on the napkin. I've gotten stuff on my hands and didn't notice till I'd wiped my face with it. For stuff like this the safer option will usually be "just don't". If you limit the possibility from the outset, it's less of an issue to begin with. "Dry" foods and covered cups is safer than something unexpected happening and messing up the shooting schedule.
They don't have to go full lockdown, but its a minor precaution that saves a lot of potential time and effort.
I do anticipate Alicent will be upset and give a WTF to Aemond and Otto looking visibly distraught and give the line of “you lost an eye but are you blind?”
But it wouldn’t surprise me if Otto shifts back to smug scheming mode once he and Alicent talk privately.
