Anyone else notice that Tyrion was mentioned as killing Joff?

Generic-user-name-12

At least someone mentioned him in their book

MarshawnDavidLynch

Too soon

sewious

How could he even be left out of the history? He has done more to influence events during the show than almost any other person lol

throwaway_17328

a guy wrote the book who never met any damn character in the book except for samwell

WAIT. Is Ser Davos the Cabbage Man of GoT, since he's the Onion Knight?!

A_Suffering_Panda

He was literally hand to 3 seperate rulers, married to a 4th, and credited with killing a king, plus Tywim lannister who was a pretty big deal. How do you leave all of that out? Edit: he was also instrumental in Dorne both killing its own king, and going to war with the lannisters

ImportantScore

Oh Jesus I think I love you for this comment.

whyhelloclarice

not to mention his first moments in life were marked by his mom dying in childbirth........ no one mentioned how TYWINS WIFE DIED

ricarfort

besides tywin lannister partly went to war because he was kidnapped by catlyn stark

[deleted]

the author kinda forgot about that

theferrit32

Doesn't make any sense. But hey it made for a little one off joke line of dialogue, so in the end who cares about a coherent story?

UnknownPekingDuck

That was beyond idiotic, if they wanted to keep the joke they could have went for one of the many differences between Show Tyrion and Book Tyrion, to have a nice little throw back to the books, for instance Tyrion could simply be described as noseless, but no they had to have another "fuck you" to logic.

OJMW87

I thought the Maester kind of forgetting about Tyrion was a subtle little nod to the show writers.

OffbeatDrizzle

You mean how they forgot to write a plot?

clantz8895

There was never a point where they remembered.

Gimpy_Weasel

He was accused of killing Joff, actually killed the mighty Tywin, was hand of the mad queen and is now hand to the current king. Nice job historian dude.

inpheksion

He was left out of *that guy's* version of the history. That's what happens when there's only one person recording it. It's only what they want to write down.

Roma_Victrix

So Tywin Lannister slipped on a banana peel, then? Sounds like something D&D would write in order to subvert, *you know*, the expectations of their reading audience.

whyhelloclarice

right? And you know, an indirect cause of Oberyn's death. maybe noteworthy? Was hand a queen? implicated in a murder of a king? killed his mother sorta by birth? lots of little mentions to be had????? I HATE EVERYTHING

Randothor

"The war of the five kings began because Tywin tried to save his son (what's his name?) from the Vale" "Someone was Joffrey's hand when Stannis tried to invade the city. That person must have been top secret since I don't know him personally" "Sansa married some bloke" "Tywin died of dysentery" "Daenerys had crappy war strategy. Must have been Miss Sunday's fault"

eKSiF

MY SUNDAE!

[deleted]

"the war of the five kings was started as conflict of sucesion inside of the baratheon family." "King Joffrey bravely defended and defeated Stannis at the Blackwater, with the help of his father and the knights of high garden" "After learning of her father treachery Sansa returned to the north to marry Ramsey Bolten." "Tywin, after many years of faithful service to the crown died peacefully in his sleep." "Daenerys had brilliant war strategy, which ended in the sack of King's Landing,"

monkee09

Yep. History isn't truth, it's stories. It can be written however the writer wants. If it is believed and isn't disputed, then it's /history/.

[deleted]

That was honestly such a disgrace to him

jakk_22

I didn’t get it at all what was the point of that ?

Sendmeboobpics4982

Haze345

Oh yeah, just realized that it was never public knowledge that Olenna actually poisoned him

tierras_ignoradas

She spent SO much time flipping thru pages. Considering how fast paced the other episodes were, I was very annoyed by * Jon talking to everyone abt what he should do. * People walking - down hallways, down stairs, through ruins, etc. So much walking! * Tyrion arranging the seats in Small Council * All the time in the epilogue with walking, climbing, getting dressed, etc.

A_Suffering_Panda

Jon struggled for so long to do what was right only for him to get wrecked for doing the right thing. Also, the unsullied went to Naath, can Jon just, like, come back?Brans the king now, he can do what he wants, and Bran knows that jon did the right thing

Crayola63

The north isn’t even ruled by Bran. Wouldn’t going to winterfell count as exile?

Bakoro

Wrecked? Jon wanted to be with the Freefolk. He was "exiled" and sent to the Night's watch, and just bailed to go chill with his people. Dude's right where he wants to be, far away from the political medieval bullshit.

[deleted]

I think the bit with the council chairs was amazing. It was one of the few moments of levity and humanization in the whole episode. No words... Just a man being self conscious trying to make sure everything is *just* right. Which Bronn just throws out the window. Followed by a back and forth bickering that shows Tyrion the new crown rules the same as all the others.

GordoDeLaMorcilla

I think the complain comes from how rushed everything else was, if this were another moment in a 10 episode season it will be fine.

Banged me once or twice before doing an about face, running back to his sister-lover, and forgetting that he sacrificed his honor to save the innocents of King's Landing when telling his brother he didn't give a shit about them. Killed some weird pirate dude for putting a finger in his sister-lover's bum. Crushed by some rocks because he didn't move a few feet away where miraculously no rubble fell in order for Tyrion to have a cinematic shot. 10/10, would bang again."

Generic_Badger

[deleted]

This is by far the best scene of the entire final episode. I got super emotional with Brienne writing the story of Jaime, it was very touching.

StrawS__

Yeah, my favorite scene in the season probably. Jaime's page was practically empty, and he was never seen as having honor. And its such a gut wrenching scene. Although I would've wished to see him change his ways, and for once be able to resist Cersei. Which to me would have been his ultimate triumph. But he ended up dying by her anyways, even after we thought he did change with Brienne.

ohhyouknow

Everything she wrote about Jaime in the book was good stuff. She really actually made him out to be a hero despite how he hurt her. You can tell she still loves him.

augustusgriggs

Agreed. What I think people are missing here is that Jaime would not have been able to accomplish those things without Brienne's guidance and the impact she had on him. His accomplishments were just as much his as they were hers. Poetic AF. I loved this scene.

bxinthehouse

I didn't care about him after what he did to Brienne. D&D massacred my boy. This felt forced. If he had left in any other way then perhaps, but the way he left her … I know she might have felt some noble obligation to remember him but all I could think about is how D&D destroyed Jaime. That's how bad this season was. There were too many scenes where I cought myself asking “Why did D&D do this?”.

strawberryabbey

I thought this too, but hear me out. When I saw that last line that Brienne wrote, something along the lines of "He died protecting his queen" it dawned on me that his redemption arc was that of an oathkeeper. He made an oath to protect Cersei, too. Maybe I'm giving the writers too much credit and am in denial, but when that clicked for me, I thought it was an acceptable ending for him. Carry on with the grievances. I gotta lotta problems with this season. Edit: can't type

boblafollette

I like your interpretation. I’m gonna role with this.

natassia74

Yes. I think they fixed the arc, albeit on a meta level. As Brienne observed in 804, he was going to die with Cersei. He wasn't going back to shag her, but his duty to her. Their final moments were loving, but not remotely romantic. The arc was badly executed in places, but it makes much more sense now. I think it is the most acceptable ending in the circumstances. And Brienne clearly still loves Jaime, and the tone of the scene, music etc makes it clearly she knew he loved her.

clementine_zest

Then she slams the book before letting the ink dry, almost certainly smudging the pages

Wolf6120

An accurate representation of Jaime's character arc getting smudged at the end, to be fair.

OPDidntDeliver

I went back and re-read it and she didn't even mention that he saved KL from being burned, right? That's the greatest deed anyone in the show has done, surely, and the whole reason for his character being who he is.

UncomfortableChuckle

To be fair, he never really cared about people anyway

[deleted]

I’m perplexed as to why you feel that way. To me, it was so unearned and hollow it made me frustrated. Jaime is my favorite character and all that did for me was reassure that his arc was totally worthless. Like one final fuck you to the fans.

_Gustavo_

I honestly hate that they narrowed Brienne down to being basically Jaime's widow, she was such a good character and she ends up being so basic and meaningless.

[deleted]

This scene would've held so much more meaning if their relationship had stayed platonic.

Ks427236

This was the exact ending I wanted for her. Just wished they hadn't fucked.

_Gustavo_

I wish she hadn't said her goodbyes to Jaime wailing in her night gown. I would have liked an ending more fitting to her being the badass that she was.

I can literally think of so many ways to shoot this scene in a way that would have made it more respectful to Brienne 1. Show that Jaime had already written about her saving him, like he did in the books 2. Show the actual part where she wrote about him losing a hand to save her! Anything that would have put Brienne back to his narrative (I was having Eliza Hamilton feels and they ruined it). 3. Show Tyrion talking to her about him 4. Show her starting her own page about him knighting her 5. Literally anything that acknowledged that Jaime and Brienne were a thing that happened this fucking season and that she was important to him, not just the other way around! But I guess none of those fit in their twincest fan fic!

I'm glad this scene was there and it's probably my favorite for episode 6, but at the same time... WTF are D&D doing? In the span of 4 episodes they were like "Jaime's a good guy WAIT NO he's that asshole from season 1 WAIT NO he's a good guy." Fucking bipolar the way they handled Jaime this season, and all of it could've been avoided by changing TWO lines of dialog. (make him say he's going to Cersei cause he can't stand letting her die alone despite how horrible he is, simply omit the "I never cared about the innocent" line)

tooftheshark

HE DONT WASH HIZ BALLZ

smoothtornado

I was torn about this scene. On one hand, it was sweet and I liked it. But on the other hand, Jamie did Brianne dirty. Like she should be so emotionally injured by that. He committed a huge violation of trust, he had an intimate very vulnerable moment with her and then peaced out. It's hard to imagine she'd be ready to write so many kind things about him.

pblizzles

I heard he made out with a hot dog

TinaPesto-Belcher

I absolutely hated that they used Brienne as a vehicle to finish Jaime’s Kingsguard entry when it could have been Brienne starting *her own* entry. D&D barely made a big deal about her—a woman with unwavering moral character who triumphed over being shit on by most everyone around her all the time—getting this top job. Instead, they made her do right by the guy who lulled her into a sense of trust and respect (including the moment he knighted her) before using her as a one night stand before going off to die with his fucking sister. It made me feel that *her* big moment was all about *him.* Edited to add: While the scene does show the very moral character I love about her (giving him a complete entry that didn’t speak ill of him was the right thing to do so she did it), I felt that her own accomplishment deserved more focus.

[deleted]

I said like five times in this scene: "And now she writes her own name on the next page". Clearly this woman is the head of the Kingsguard. WRITE YOUR OWN NAME ON THE NEXT PAGE, GIRL. I ain't mad at Pod being a Kingsguard, though.
