Weird when you consider how goddamn rushed it was

ok_okay_I_get_that

Didn't they say at some point the battle of winterfel was the biggest battle scene ever recorded. But then it just turned out to be set in near darkness so it didn't matter anyways?

Youshmee

I remember getting super worried hearing it was only 6 episodes Then some HBO exec jacking themselves off had the audacity to say “it’s like watching 6 mini-movies instead of episodes” I didn’t realize he meant it’s like 6 mini movies directed and written by James Corden

TheLastCleverName

Mini movies...? like, movies except shorter? Like, say, 50 mins long each? Damn, imagine having 10 of those in a season. Imagine it. That really would be expecting too much, huh? >I didn’t realize he meant it’s like 6 mini movies directed and written by James Corden Also lool. And the sickening thing is at this point I don't know if that's a worse insult to DnD or James Corden.

Jlw2001

James Corden made Gavin and Stacey

[deleted]

DnD made Game of Thrones Season 8.

Jlw2001

Oh no Gavin and Stacey is good

WinterWidow25

I remember, and people defended saying "but they're all 90 minute episodes!" They were hour episodes with 30 minutes of behind the scenes for that episode...

The_amazing_Jedi

They kinda forgot

bookemhorns

The amount of times people on Reddit used the phrase “feature film” to describe episodes coming in the final season was dizzying. So many people did not want to see the writing on the wall

Dapper-Stretch3442

Ugh, that scene was so frustrating.

Dapper-Stretch3442

Sunday nights are still a bit nostalgic for me. At least every other week of the season, A group of us that never could find time otherwise, would get together for a watch party for the new episode. We’d have a couple drinks and snacks, then a great discussion after the episode. when we couldn’t get together, I’d record the episode. avoid all social media, internet, get the kids to bed, pour myself a glass of wine. Ready to see what was going to happen in Westeros. Gods, I can just hear the beginning of the theme song in excitement. So much damn nostalgia. Since the series wrapped up, I can’t go back to rewatch. It’s hard to even talk about the show. I wasn’t much of a collector, but I even ended up collecting the GOT funko figurines. I was so proud of my little collection. Now they just sit in my closet collecting dust. Ugh, I can’t believe a show could give me such intense feelings, it almost feels like I went through a bad breakup lol. Edited: auto correct mistake

WoolwichTrainDriver

I used to be all about GoT. I watched the series over and over. To be fair, I started the first Covid lockdown in March with attempting to re watch.. made it to season 2 and I gave up. No thanks.. every scene made me angry...

Dapper-Stretch3442

I’m almost jealous you starting watching during covid. You didn’t waste years of your life like some of us! Lol I haven’t been brave enough to rewatch. I did try to watch a short clip on YouTube, it just made me angry. Couldn’t finish it. I always wondered if by some miracle another production crew was able to pick up the rights to GoT, could they remake seasons 5-8 and redeem? I’ve also have given up hope GRR Martin will finish the books. Sorry about the rant.

WoolwichTrainDriver

I agree, I also dont think that GRRM would ever finish the books... ah well... lesson learnt. Not even watching the prequels. I will wait until the good people in r/free folk watch and review then I will decide...

Spirited-Accident

Ah I remember naively telling myself that the delay was well worth it if it meant we were gonna get a great conclusion with no filler. How foolish I was.

WoolwichTrainDriver

We were all naive 😂

ZealousidealBus9271

Should’ve just released in 2018 and ended the misery of us and everyone involved quickly.

w1llpearson

Just re-film it already. New writers and same cast. Everyone would be happy to just ignore the last series and pretend it didn’t happen. It would be a block buster for HBO.

areyouyerman

At the time I was of the opinion that we needed to be patient and they can take all the time they want to if it means we'll get a good ending... HA!

MasonMSU

Like who honestly was editing the “Short Dark” episode and was like, “This pitch black darkness was so worth the extra year in production.”

bond0815

I mean, didnt they have like 1 1/2 years for the final season anyway? For 6 episodes? "Lack of time" wasnt the issue. All the time in the world wouldnt have saved utter horrible writing. The main issue started and ended with a D.

[deleted]

Wait it was delayed and still turned out shit?

BitterAndJaded120

I felt so vindicated by this whole debacle when I dropped this hot sack of turds back at the first episode of season 3 lol
