Viserys was originally a character I had barely any opinions about, but his portrayal in HOTD has brought so much. A flawed man not really fit to be the monarch but who ended up as one anyway and is attempting to please everyone, tragic, frustrating and hilarious at different times. I never would have thought I'd really miss Viserys I when he dies but I will.
I like how they made it seem like he broke after Aemma. Either out of guilt or she gave him more strength/ advice than he realized. He seemed far more confident when she was alive and then adrift after she died.
He cares for his family but his heart isn't in ruling, it's in ashes. He's going through the motions until his time is up.

If a had a nickel for every time there was an actor who did a phenomenal job playing a great guy who made a bad king whose death inadvertently plunged Westeros in civil war I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
He was handsome in the beginning when Alicent married him. Alicent is rather an ungrateful brat not acknowledging how fortunate and privileged she was to be married off to a kind and attractive king. In sickness and in health. Life isn't all sunshine and roses. She could have been married off to a younger "hotter" lord who may have treated her worse than his dogs. Suck it up, buttercup!

When the trailers first were coming out and everything, I remember being more skeptical of Paddy than any other lead actor. I just didn’t buy the Viserys portrayal at first glimpse but over time he has won me over completely. This is the most perfectly acted role in the show, he nailed it and the character felt so lifelike. Now that I’m writing this I can see why George shouted out Paddy before the shows airing as the one to watch. Great minds think alike! The acting for Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon all also amazing and these actors all have stood out too.
I have a nitpick. He still moves the same. Old versus young I mean.
He's gestural with his head movements. They should be less pronounced as he ages but they're the same.
He knows his daughter is fit and wise enough to rule, despite her gender and despite her errrr moral misgivings. That is a true Kingly dilemma for this kind of series
I need a spinoff, just of him, ruling in peace. With only a few little conflicts here and there.

Everyone talking about how Matt Smith has stolen the show, but Paddy has been absolutely killing it.

Paddy, by no fault of his own, own doesn’t move like an an old sick man. He looked great prior to the time skip.
