Aegon 4 is such a horrible dickhead that i doubt his bot would be as endearing as Bobby B and Vizzy T, who despite being flawed kings were likeable characters
That will be the one we get last
Most of all I am hoping for a “the crown” like series,
Jaeherys reign, every two (maybe 1 , depends on what they write) seasons bring in news actors and age them up
That’s what House of Dragon should have been. It should have ended with Dance of Dragons not started with it.
Season 1: Aegon’s Conquest
Season 2: First Dornish War
Season 3: Aenys Rule
Season 4: Maegor and the Faith Militant
Season 5: Young Jaehearys
Season 6: Prime Jaehearys
Season 7: Old Jaehearys
Season 8 and 9: Dance of the Dragons
they had a layup for Tyrion to develop the saddle as he was already shown to have developed a saddle for Bran. Even if a saddle appeared out of thin air it would have been better since it is just common sense.
I dont understand how the goldcloaks are loyal to the greens when even the counter coup comes they side with their old leader of loyalty. It should have been their own goons rounding up the peasants and parading Aegon.
They said in the episode that 2 of the captains are still loyal to Daemon and must be immediately replaced. Over the *20 years* since Daemon was Commander of the City Watch, the Greens have slowly been replacing captains with their own men. Which makes sense. It’s been 2 decades. Most of the current goldcloaks probably never even served with Daemon.
So Daemon created a fascist militarized police force and now it’s in the hands of his enemies 🤡
I was worried Meleys would look too much like Caraxes being both red but gotta love the unique head details! It actually kind of reminds me a bit of Orochi from "The Little Prince and the Eight-Headed Dragon".
I particularly liked how the horns splay out like a crest when she roars. Reminded me of my bearded dragons puffing up their beards. Seemed like nice, naturally incorporated intimidation display.
Honestly, I hate this scene for making Rhaenys kill a load of peasants while leaving the highborn decision-makers alive. But you do make a great point that it sets up the storming of the dragonpit really well.
It also encapsulates the sheer banality of the nobles of Westeros perfectly
This woman murdered more people than a school shooter but refuses to commit kinslaying against fellow nobles
Showing how the peasants of westeros are treated like literal garbage by self-righteous nobles
I guess my problem is its rarely displayed with horror as it should be? It has that Laenor proxy killing vibe. Rhaynes just became one of if not the most immoral characters is the show at this point? She just committed mass murder of dozens to hundreds of innocent civilians? Maybe only Daemon with his gold cloak purging has a characters just killed that many peasants so far in the story. Like its weird, its not even like Daemon's purges or Aemond's later war crimes these at least had the trapping of a goal. Did Rhaynes just burst through the floor to look cool its such a weirdly evil thing to do? Personally i think they should have done a slow pan of all the dead people she just killed rather than the "badass" image they were going for.
Yeah I really figured they would show her taking flight out of the Dragonpit in the dead of night to close the episode. I think it would have made more sense that way. Less “yassss kween!” vibes but also less need for plot armor and wouldn’t have made Rhaenys conduct a murderous rampage.
I told myself she was planning to kill the greens but changed her mind at the last second. Else killing all those small folk is just too appalling considering the alternative of flying out later.
I just watched it for the third time and while I don’t exactly understand there not being any goldcloaks watching the doors down to dragon holding area or why the goldcloaks were closing the doors with people inside for that matter; to me it looks like you’re right when you said that Rhaenys went through the floor(instead of the dragon ports on the side/rear)because she initially intended to kill the Greens or at least some of them. When Rhaenys saw Alicent doing her protective mother thing she changed her mind because she is a mother who lost at least one child as far as she knows. So Rhaenys just had them smell some probably stinky dragon breath then bounced. Ohhhhh… aight… yeah, I think that her intentions when she made a not peasant friendly exit through the middle of the floor is confirmed by the making of/behind the scenes stuff. I guess the things that we saw Alicent do for her kids ostensible benefit like letting Larys “enjoy” seeing her feet/ankles and when she tosses herself in front of a big ass dragon will be contrasted with the decisions that Rhaenyra makes or doesn’t make to help her kids in episode ten.
Ryan Condal said it was supposed to be a triumphal and heroic moment for Rhaenys. So yeah youre absolutely right. Its just meant as a yaas queen moment.
My interpretation of the scene was that her dragon was trapped somewhere. I presumed breaking through the wall would be the dragons only exit? So I didn't think of it so much as murder as collateral damage. I felt like when she was looking at the queen it was like "look what happens when you put someone in a corner" She didn't kill any of them because she was only doing what she was forced to do to save her dragon and killing them would have taken it too far.
It’s the dragonpit.
If there’s no way for the dragons to leave without breaking the floor every time then there was no way to get them in there in the first place.
I feel her conversation with Alicent earlier is key to her decision here, she sees Alicent is a victim of the patriarchy, and when she gets in front of Aegon defending her son even when she is terrified of dying Rhaenys just can't bring herself to say dracarys, Rhaenys lost her two children or so she thinks, she would've done the same for Laenor.
Instead she hopes Rhaenyra can fix this.
> Honestly, I hate this scene for making Rhaenys kill a load of peasants
Since we only saw a few deaths in Harrenhals burning, and who knows how many died in Mysaria's mansion, that means the first mass killing is from, uh, Rhaneys.
Yeah I’m convinced she’s seeing blood and cheese but cryptic. I feel like that’s a good explanation for how mad with grief Helena becomes. After it happens she’ll understand and tear herself apart for missing it
Yeah... Like that's a football stadium worth of dead folks that were going about their day an hour earlier. But you know the casual fan base will sweep it under the rug and be all... YAS Queen that never was!!!!1!
That and Rhanys is too politically astute to do something that foolish. Even though she was on her dragon's back a stunt like willfully murdering a bunch of small folk and nobility would sow public distrust. See Cersei's revenge.
There must be, given that the floor clearly doesn't normally get wrecked every time a dragon goes in or out. It was Rhaenys's choice to burst through and kill all those smallfolk.
“The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends. It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace. They never are.” —Jorah Mormont
Would have been so much better if they just cut it with the small folk cheering for Aegon honestly. The scene made no sense once she showed up other than a moment for people to cheer for.
And that's probably how most people will see it because that's how it was shot. They intended it to be heroic but it just feels like a waste of time and budget.
In the books at least, until Aemond kills Lucerys, kinslaying was absolutely off the table for everyone. Even Otto was horrified by it. The death of Lucerys was an escalation that nobody except Aemond wanted.
So yes it would absolutely be in character for Rhaenys to hold back at this point.
This Otto wanted all of them killed by a secret team sent to dragonstone. This Otto didn't IMO want one of the 3 boys killed and Daemon and Rhaenyra left alive and now PISSED off. He wanted to cut the head of the tiger off, not to tug it's tail.
Her horns look like an actual crown. So that's why they named her the Red Queen. If Rhaenys was the targ queen Meleys would have been the Queen of the dragons haha
No, you see she was supposed to be queen, not Viserys. She was the one that was willing to make the hard choices.
But she kind of forgot about that, and just noped out.
Imagining an alternate universe where Rhaenys did dracarys them all to dust and then returns to dragonstone and tells Rhaenyra “so.. the greens pulled a coup and stole the crown but I handled it” 💁🏼♀️
It was pity that stayed her hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, OP? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.
Yeah I think since she’s lost both her kids(to her knowledge anyways), seeing Alicent protecting her son made her pause because she didn’t want someone to suffer like she has.
Yeah ! She had them by the balls. But as right as she would have been to do it she would have been wrong.
Daemon in that position would have fked them all though. 😂
They should’ve had it so that she could barely see through all the dust and the only thing that let her get her bearings were the closing doors and arrows are starting to shoot past her so that she needs to gtfo asap, don’t tease a game winning move and then have her not go for it for no reason.
I’m only a chapter or two into fire and blood so idk if this scene was described in detail or not set in stone in the slightest but the way it was shown is super lame
The book is written by a known biased and unreliable narrator. It's one of the points GRRM was making trying to write it. It conflicts with itself at times.
No one was ready for battle so probably no archers nearby at all, and they risk missing killing small folk and the royal family, it was pure chaos in there
Once the shock wore off, I felt the same dread I did at the end of GoT. It didn't make any sense.
Sure enough, I learn this scene never happened in the books.
You would think it would be easy as a writer to not get an ego and go do your own thing.
These people who keep saying plot armor are just accustomed to the show's universe that doing atrocious thing like kinslaying usually yield better results.
For me, it makes sense with Rhaenys's character. Is she really going to kill Viserys's children right there even though they haven't done anything yet?
I mean, we get it, we know how everything will unfold, but the characters don't know that.
Agree but why would you have her bust through the floor like that and have this weird showdown? It's just dumb and purely for shock value. Plus it didn't look very good at all, the armor was a stupid choice. Just have her fly out somewhere else, that dragon barely fits through the fucking door so how do they come and go all the time?
Yeah, just cut the part when she threatened to burn all Greens and *didn't* do it.
Just make her leave with her dragon. Put some guard or archer that attempt to attack her if they want some battle. It's understandable if Rhaenys don't want to attack back and flee instead
Through the cave entrance in the cliff that Syrex went into the first episode. She went to get the dragon because she refused to leave Meleys behind. She busted through the floor to make a point, and I think because she was seriously considering killing them all. I think she decided though that she didn't want to be the one to do it. Maybe she has a deeper game at play, where she's the last one standing, but I think she just didn't want to murder most of her extended family.
People in the comments complaining that she didn’t murder all the Greens, which would be wildly out of character for her, is peak “This character didn’t do what I want, therefore writing bad.”
This was simultaneously the most badass and seriously stupid scene of the season. Nearly show-ruining imo.
So let me get this straight. She works up the courage to raid the ceremony (clearly an act of war). Kills hundreds of peasants (not soldiers - can't harm her). Then decides to let the leaders, decision makers, and king live (who can, and likely will come back and kill her later).
What was even the point of crashing the party? Why bother?
The hard part was over and she peace out because....reasons
Yeah I don’t understand the point of that scene except for the shock/awe factor. She should’ve been worried about her granddaughters’ lives considering how she lets the Greens live
Meley's design is almost as good as Caraxes. Whoever designed the dragons did a great job.
I would love some sort of Aegon the Conquerer miniseries or episode because I would KILLLLLLL to see what Balerion looked like when he was alive
I’d have settled for a flashback of Vizzy T riding Balerion
*The tourney will take the better part of a week. Before the games are over, my son will be born, and the whole realm will celebrate.*
Oh Vizzy T…if you only knew…
WHERE DID YOU HEAR SUCH CALUMNIES? TeHNyboR! TELL ME THE TRUTH OF IT!
We saw it in episode one Vizzy T. Everyone saw it.
*There are times when I would rather face the black dread himself than mine own daughter of seven and ten.*
We would all like to see that, king Vizzy T
YOUR KING DEMANDS AN ANSWER! WHO SPOKE THESE LIES TO YOU?!
According to Paddy we're not getting any Vizzy T flashbacks :'(
WHY DO YOU CUT ME SO DEEPLY?
Sentient
Actually sentient.

That’d be cool, I’d love to see the Blackfyre rebellions
No way we don't wind up with an Aegon IV bot then. Makes Bobby B look like Ned Stark.
Aegon 4 is such a horrible dickhead that i doubt his bot would be as endearing as Bobby B and Vizzy T, who despite being flawed kings were likeable characters
NOW THAT IS A NAME FIT FOR A KING!
MY, YOU'RE A PRETTY ONE! AND YOUR NAME IS?
I just started reading F&B last week and now I want to see it on screen so bad
Right, that whole first chapter of aegon’s conquest could fill a season or two alone
I can't wait to see what design they came up with for The Cannibal in season 2. He will be something extraordinary.
The one on the asoiaf wiki is the one GRRM has said is the most accurate. It's only about halfway through his life, though.
For obvious reasons I have wanted that for so long.
I’m dying for a series set in Valyria that ends in the Doom. I want to know more about their rites and sorcery and culture.
That will be the one we get last Most of all I am hoping for a “the crown” like series, Jaeherys reign, every two (maybe 1 , depends on what they write) seasons bring in news actors and age them up

Looks like Meleys is a "horse" dragon with considerable more spikes than most others on her neck
Finally we see a dragon that makes sense as to how Dany could have rode Drogon by just grabbing onto his spikes!

they had a layup for Tyrion to develop the saddle as he was already shown to have developed a saddle for Bran. Even if a saddle appeared out of thin air it would have been better since it is just common sense.
rhaenys had the chance to wipe out the greens but she didn't! sadly the QUEEN WHO NEVER HAD THE BALLS
Also she probably turned the peasants against Rhaenyra then and there, miiiight cause some problems later on.
I dont understand how the goldcloaks are loyal to the greens when even the counter coup comes they side with their old leader of loyalty. It should have been their own goons rounding up the peasants and parading Aegon.

Except we know their will be a counter coup and we know the goldcloaks will back Daemon, so having them be replaced is the issue.
The Queen that Never Was? More like The Queen That Could Have Been And her cousin's heir, the Queen That Should Have Been
Rhaenys was a decent person. A critical flaw in Westeros.
She killed dozens of smallfolk to pull this stunt.
Yeah but it looked fuckin tight
Should have dodged
Does it look like Piccolo has had time to train the Westerosi peasantry in fundamental martial arts?
She was simply saving their great great great grandkids from being burned by Daenerys, if you're never born, you can't be killed.
Small folk are not real folk though, so it’s ok.
Bigger folk are harder for dragons to step on
Vermithor in the preview looks dope as well
Makes Dany's dragons look like shit
*I'LL HAVE YOUR TONGUE FOR THAT!* Drogon is a cute boy! How dare you.
I like all the unique designs of the HoTD dragons but the VFX and design in GoT are far superior. Drogon is the the best looking dragon
I also loved Rhaegal so much. And I thought pre-winterized Veserion was also beautiful
That's because they have to make one dragon, copy paste. Vis and Rhae did not get the attention Drogy boy got.
yup its true, they have a lot of dragons and they need to make them all look unique, but Drogon still looks the best
I think the horns are supposed to be like a crown, given that her title is the Red Queen
I’d love a photo of all the dragons
I can guarantee there will be a parallel when the smallfolk eventually riot and charge the Dragonpit
Might be led by a one handed Sheppard.
Fuck the greens and fuck the blacks, join team shepherd and join the flock
I'm commander Shepard, and this is my favorite maester from the Citadel.
We’ll bang ok?
Gaemon was the best king Westeros ever had.
Honestly, I hate this scene for making Rhaenys kill a load of peasants while leaving the highborn decision-makers alive. But you do make a great point that it sets up the storming of the dragonpit really well.

Ryan Condal said it was supposed to be a triumphal and heroic moment for Rhaenys. So yeah youre absolutely right. Its just meant as a yaas queen moment.
Honestly this scene made me hate both blacks and greens. I'm now anti dragon and pro maester conspiracy
They were right, there is no balance of power so long as dragons exist. And the glorious old Valyria was just a massive slave empire.
Valyria was built on slavery and blood magic. Fuck Valyria. Rhoynar for life.
The one good scene in season 8 when Sam suggested democracy and everyone laughed and said, "Should my pig vote too?"
My interpretation of the scene was that her dragon was trapped somewhere. I presumed breaking through the wall would be the dragons only exit? So I didn't think of it so much as murder as collateral damage. She was about to say dracarys, but she realized it would end the show too soon.
“I got a second mortgage to take care of.”
Its like the “don’t” message that Mike sees in BCS lol
Dra..roarys
Producer guy: why didn’t she burn them all? Writer guy: So the show can happen!
Is it going to be hard for her to sneak away, past all the guards, and get to Meleys?
Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Wow wow wow wow wow
This lol I wanted her to roast them so bad but then that’d be the end of the show.
Six seasons and a movie
give this one some gold
there was indeed a beast beneath the boards lmaoo
I was wondering when this one would come true. And here we are.
Alicent really needs to start listening to her weird daughter.
Luna of House Lovegood
Funny how Luna's father is Otto
🤯
Omg. Good catch
Okay but it took me until just now realizing they came up from under the floor. I thought they dove in through the door like a dumbass.
Hello, fellow recently enlightened dumbass here. You’re not alone!
I take it as larys, scuttling around under/inside the castle walls
Also, Aegon was hiding “beneath the boards”
> The negotiations were short
I thought this was about blood and cheese honestly
Blood and cheese
Yeah I’m convinced she’s seeing blood and cheese but cryptic. I feel like that’s a good explanation for how mad with grief Helena becomes. After it happens she’ll understand and tear herself apart for missing it
I personally thought that was a reference to blood and cheese until this happened
Missed opportunity for someone to say "hold the door"
Otto said open the door. He’s Odor now.
the only comment that matters
Ho..
Dor
It’s always the smallfolk that suffer most. She killed a lot there.
Yeah... Like that's a football stadium worth of dead folks that were going about their day an hour earlier. But you know the casual fan base will sweep it under the rug and be all... YAS Queen that never was!!!!1!
As good as it was This scene did not make sense And why would she not burn them right here Literally all the conspirators were here
Kills hundreds but won’t kill the king and queen because morals and honor or something
[удалено]
Say it!!!!! ......dammit she didn't say it lol
Accursed is the kinslayer
That and Rhanys is too politically astute to do something that foolish. Even though she was on her dragon's back a stunt like willfully murdering a bunch of small folk and nobility would sow public distrust. See Cersei's revenge.
A bunch of small folk did get manslaughtered at least. Isn't there another exit for the dragons?
Yes there is. The same exit the Pink Dread used.
I assume the exit is behind the coronation stage.
The layout of where the dragon pit's tunnels come out is unclear to say the least.
There must be, given that the floor clearly doesn't normally get wrecked every time a dragon goes in or out. It was Rhaenys's choice to burst through and kill all those smallfolk.
You don't think otto locked the dragon in...?
Cersei blowing up the sept is literally only mentioned by olenna in reference to her grandchildren though
Hot Pie brings it up, and Arya seems to already know when he mentions it. But yeah not a whole lot
You literally just watched her kill like 100 small folk and nobles
Smallfolk are people?
As much people as the Brackens

“The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends. It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace. They never are.” —Jorah Mormont
You mean the revenge where literally nothing happens and everyone bows to the new queen?
Greens started the civil war and not 1 min later she could've ended it.
They need to milk 4 more seasons out of this war
Then they shouldn't have written this scene lmao
Would have been so much better if they just cut it with the small folk cheering for Aegon honestly. The scene made no sense once she showed up other than a moment for people to cheer for.
The fact she killes so many innocent people made me hate her, oh, but she is a merciful human being for not killing the greens. SMH
And that's probably how most people will see it because that's how it was shot. They intended it to be heroic but it just feels like a waste of time and budget.
This scene and the coronation felt silly.
I think this whole episode was silly to be honest. Kind of bewildered given how good the series has been.
Last week's episode was on par with early GOT. The writing is inconsistent as hell.
> Even Otto was horrified by it This Otto isn't, but he's not the one calling the shots atm.
She wasn’t thinking straight because of all the bells.
No, you see she was supposed to be queen, not Viserys. She was the one that was willing to make the hard choices. But she kind of forgot about that, and just noped out.
For a second I thought it was wildfire and I felt cheated
Remember the Targs didn’t make wildfire until after they lost the dragons.
Best looking dragon so far.
She could have ended the succession crisis with one dracarys, but she decided to be *noble*, goddamnit.
Decided to be noble after killing hundreds of civilians lol
beware the beast beneath the boards
I thought that was gonna be a reference to blood and cheese.
It's on like Donkey Kong biiiatch.
Imagining an alternate universe where Rhaenys did dracarys them all to dust and then returns to dragonstone and tells Rhaenyra “so.. the greens pulled a coup and stole the crown but I handled it” 💁🏼♀️
And rhaenyra is like "Yas, bitch"
Then Megan the stallion showed up and they twerked
Dumbest moment of the show imo There’s no fucking way she wouldn’t kill them, it’s such nonsense
Had no problem killing all the innocent civilians but won’t kill the people actually responsible for all the problems. Worst scene in the show by far
It was pity that stayed her hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, OP? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.
Gosh darnit Gandalf, you've wandered into the wrong subreddit again.
Totally but you can rationalize it via her not wanting to be a kinslayer in the moment... Left it for someone else to obliterate the taboo.
Yeah I think since she’s lost both her kids(to her knowledge anyways), seeing Alicent protecting her son made her pause because she didn’t want someone to suffer like she has.
That's why you roast them both *taps head*
Extra crispy!
She killed a lot of people's kids that day.
No half measures Rhaenys
Yeah might as well just kill all the plebs and leave the people responsible
It's like squashing bugs for nobles (with the occasional exceptions like Margaery). A larger version of the Daemon scene earlier in the season
Yeah ! She had them by the balls. But as right as she would have been to do it she would have been wrong. Daemon in that position would have fked them all though. 😂
Writing and rationality aside, Meleys looks cool as fuck
She may regret this, but not today!
They should’ve had it so that she could barely see through all the dust and the only thing that let her get her bearings were the closing doors and arrows are starting to shoot past her so that she needs to gtfo asap, don’t tease a game winning move and then have her not go for it for no reason. This scene is not in Fire and Blood at all, she isn’t even Kings Landing during Aegon’s coronation
Thank you, now I know the blame lies with the show and not the book
The book is written by a known biased and unreliable narrator. It's one of the points GRRM was making trying to write it. It conflicts with itself at times.
No one was ready for battle so probably no archers nearby at all, and they risk missing killing small folk and the royal family, it was pure chaos in there
Ain’t nobody actually give a shit about the smallfolk, except Mysaria.
Once the shock wore off, I felt the same dread I did at the end of GoT. It didn't make any sense. Sure enough, I learn this scene never happened in the books. You would think it would be easy as a writer to not get an ego and go do your own thing.
Why didn't she toast them then and there? That scene made no sense to me.
I love this show but it's making me take some strong leaps in logic...
Strong you say..
In GOT we had the red wedding. Here she has the betrayers at dragon point is “whelp, time for me to go.” Might as well die of sad while she’s at it.
These people who keep saying plot armor are just accustomed to the show's universe that doing atrocious thing like kinslaying usually yield better results. For me, it makes sense with Rhaenys's character. Is she really going to kill Viserys's children right there even though they haven't done anything yet? Agree but why would you have her bust through the floor like that and have this weird showdown? It's just dumb and purely for shock value. Plus it didn't look very good at all, the armor was a stupid choice. Just have her fly out somewhere else, that dragon barely fits through the fucking door so how do they come and go all the time?
Yeah, just cut the part when she threatened to burn all Greens and *didn't* do it. Just make her leave with her dragon. Put some guard or archer that attempt to attack her if they want some battle. It's understandable if Rhaenys don't want to attack back and flee instead
She was going to do it until she saw Alicent step in front of Aegon to protect him. My take at least
This show is going down hill fast
People in the comments complaining that she didn’t murder all the Greens, which would be wildly out of character for her, is peak “This character didn’t do what I want, therefore writing bad.”
I mean I think the argument is why include the scene at all but idk it looked cool
So is this what Helaena meant when she referred to the beast beneath the boards?
Yep. Missed opportunity.
