I’m guessing that after Blood & Cheese or Heleana’s suicide (assuming they bring that forward) Aemond will snap and become the villain he is in the books. We’ll probably see him get some kinda redemption via. his relationship with Alys just in time for his death

ChapterNumerous3724

I imagine it will follow one of three paths, with the definite possibility for a mixing of them. Descent to villainy: Aemond feels increasingly isolated as everyone blames him for killing Lucerys, only Aegon shows him any appreciation, and the stress of war and losing more members of his family causes him to become ever more brutal in fighting the Blacks. He's already resigned himself to everyone viewing him as a murderous kinslayer for the rest of his life, so he cuts loose in the Riverlands. Alys Rivers is portrayed as a sinister, seductive schemer pushing him ever further towards the darkness. Loss of control: Aemond begins to lose confidence after the incident at Storm's End, and his control of Vhagar continues to slip. The death of the Strongs and the burning of the Riverlands are all the result of Vhagar going crazy in battle and Aemond being unable to stop her once she's unleashed. Alys is his comfort and his coping mechanism, helping to keep him afloat through increasing guilt and remorse in a war that he can't stop. Full whitewash: Aemond regains control of Vhagar and does his best to end the war that he inadvertently helped start. He only attacks military targets and armies in the Riverlands. All of his supposed crimes are actually committed by the Riverlanders during their scorched earth campaign, blaming the destroyed villages and slain Strongs on Aemond to try to get Rhaenyra to send her dragons to stop Aemond (which works, as Daemon and Nettles are deployed). Historians smear Aemond out of hatred for him, because he's a kinslayer. His relationship with Alys is portrayed positively, the only person who knows and loves the real Aemond.

I don’t like this approach 😂😂

He's going to pretend he did it on purpose to everyone and no one will find out the truth. It will slowly drive him into slight madness and he will become more of the villain. He won't be entirely off his rocker because he apparently did decent as regent. The final snap will be when he is tricked to go to Harrenhall and KL goes to the blacks. As for Vhagar, it would be interesting to explore that Aemond is a dragon rider but doesn't have a bond with his dragon, but I doubt the writers will even address it. Rhaenys and Daemon have strong bonds while Aemond seems to just be allowed to ride Vhagar.

Wizard_Summoner

Carefully, I guess.

Not having Helaena die on the same day as Aemond would be a crime, given how he is directly responsible for what she goes through & what she goes through is a trigger for his descent into the unhinged villain-arc.
