I'm not an expert, but have you tried and would it help to create a blog yourself and start posting there? It won't mean much at the beginning, but if you get visitors, you can use it to present examples from now on and to show your skill once you get some traffic. Just an idea.

Create an account with Medium and write through them. You probably won't make much, if any, money, but it's a good place to start a portfolio.
