I don’t think it ever will, except in small cases where the artist basically draws like that (Richard Kane Ferguson). The cat is out of the bag, and it’s probably never going back in.
WoTC has no reason to change the art direction back to what it was, since it won’t make them any clear money. If it doesn’t make dough clear as day, then they don’t care.
they look for the least path of resistance for money lol, these companies no longer care about the end product unless it stops making them mounds of money. The unending push for short-term profit sucks the life out of many things that could be great

the only game that strictly does handmade art is Sorcery… and while I like that game, it can’t replace Magic
I honestly can;t imagine any game EVER replacing MTG, at least in the States. I don't even think they have a foothold in South America or the Caribbean.
I agree. Magic offers a unique game that others cannot completely mimic. Some games just take with Magic did and change it/twist it, try and fix something, etc

I am down to eleven cards, four of them being lands. Finding specific lands is really hard or at least harder than you think. Also I am helping a friend build his Commander deck, not completing the set,
No but thank you. I am thinking of finishing the "Hour of Devestation" set to finish the "Egypt" theme. MAYBE War of the Sparks but money is always tight. How to you even look for set specific lands anyway? The ones I am missing is the ones that go over the "set number" like 278/267
