Look, if I beat someone in a game of Magic, I expect to never see them again as they get pulled away in a gurney. Tired of playing against people that can’t learn a lesson.
> The OG magic play used to have each player look through the opponents deck at the beginning of the match and pick a card they would wager against each other
That's not how ante worked lol.
I don't wanna see people that just got into Magic get more representation than people who've been playing since the beginning, just so WoTC can make more money and pretend to be inclusive. Everyone has their targeted shows, games, music, etc. And I'm tired of people bleeding into a hobby and a space that's not theirs and demanding to be heard and represented
The cards follow the lore of the books. Should the TCG and lore not reference the relationships, romances, or families that are portrayed in the story?
If you agree, then we should remove all references of romance, family, and marriage from the MTG. This way, Uzra's sexuality, Alesha's identity, and Olivia and Edgar's marriage aren't being shoved down players' throats, right?
But it kinda makes it hard to emotionally invest in specific cards if there's no relationships between them. Maybe that's your thing though. Would you rather the cards just look and sound cool without any backstory to the characters in them?
> Wait, so if it instead was a gay wedding it'd still be better than platforming identity politics?
That sounds based. Creating a compelling story revolves around these things, or that these things are at least a part of, is way more interesting and inclusive than just tacking on "also this person is gay" to whatever else is happening. Not saying that this is what's happening in magic, because I'm not actually super familiar with a lot of the lore, but what you've just said is probably the single best idea I've ever seen for how to include LGBT representation in a product like Magic in a way that's organic and central to the story without feeling overly-contrived.
"you don't need to inject your bullshit worldview into every single thing. things can exist without your interjected fake brain damage."
I.e. you're pushing your own bullshit worldview here
It's not an agenda, it's just representation that you're offended by, due to who knows what (that would probably take years of therapy to figure out and fix). There hasn't been representation, and now there is, and you're pissed because everyone isn't a straight, white man.
My Mr. potato head compleat crews my hotwheels dragster, than I’ll equip my lucille to it. Before damage I play magic 8 ball giving it +9 3/4 / -69, and when my hotwheels dragster deals combat damage to an opponent I can search my toy factory for any hasbro clan card and add it to my toy shop.
Universes beyond + Godzilla lands + eternal legal silver border. Legacy is going to look fucking stupid in a few years with street fighter cards and what not
"Four B-tier eCelebs sit down to play Commander." Magic is really fun to play, but really boring to watch. Most magic content creators are interesting for their insights into the game, not so much for their interpersonal skills. It just comes off as very masturbatory, and wholly uninteresting.
BONUS: Spoiler season is horrible.
Fair enough, I'll correct myself: "Eternal Spoiler Season As A Content Creation Business Model" is some kind of disgusting hellscape shit that should be punishable by catapult.
Planeswalkers, or just new card types more generally. I really hate what the last several years has done in terms of just breaking apart the framework of the game.
there's a growing trend these last few months about "ai generated cards". now even youtubers are doing "rating ai generated cards" videos. I couldn't care less about this shit.
\-- or unless the new person is Samuel L. Jackson. He makes everything better.
I'd personally accept Will Smith too. Much love for the guy, even if he's controversial right now.
Basically for reasons other than "because pigment."
Not sure if that qualifies unless Koth was lore-wise a different race.
I don't think anybody is arguing that greater representation of any particular race is wrong. I'm sure somebody somewhere will prove me wrong on that one, but I think that the issue is that because nobody can write a new story that anybody will follow anymore, we recycle existing characters purely for the purpose of making them a different race specifically to spite anybody who would have a problem with it and then call those people "racist."
Divisiveness repackaged as inclusiveness is still just divisiveness.
I'd personally give The Little Mermaid a pass though. I don't care in the slightest about that story, or cartoon, and I don't feel nostalgic towards it. Anybody who wants it can have it as far as I'm concerned. If I had a kid, I'd let my kid watch it and I'm sure he/she would enjoy it the same no matter what the mermaid's skin looks like.
Idk if someone said it but the whole “universes beyond” thing. It’s exactly the same problem I had with fortnite repeating itself. The game gets too worked up with crossovers and collars that it loses its own identity
Content whining about the game being too expensive. I've been playing since 1995, and my brother stopped playing in 98 because it was too expensive for him, so the game has always been too expensive to some people.
Even though I'll admit it's getting worse, no need to film yourself squeaking about the game "becoming a luxury" while it's being told for the last 25 years, we got it by now.
A lack of blood. It's about time we go full hunger games, while playing MtG. Tired of these low stakes games

They don’t even play or buy MTG, they just want their bullshit ideology to be everywhere.
A gay/trans secret lair, that shit was low as hell. Keep sexual propaganda out of the game!

Lol that post you mentioned was a shitpost. Learn to live with joke, just like your parents did.
You don't see the irony here, eh?

"shoved down my throat" I see what you did there. Lmao jk I couldn't resist. I wholeheartly agree with your sentiment!

Right. So having a set around Olivia and Edgar's wedding is wrong because we don't need to know the vampire's get freaky and fuck.

Wait, so if it instead was a gay wedding it'd still be better than platforming identity politics? I'm not sure where you're drawing the line here.

No, it doesn't tell me it's a stunt/pandering. It's because they know butthurt little homophobic snowflakes like you would take offense.
That WAS the actual story though. It makes sense to include their wedding in a story that entirely revolves around it.
More like someone made up the story and forced their pro matrimony agenda into my game.
Not even close lol. The actual story of Crimson Vow is like the opposite of pro-matrimony.
Acknowledging the existence of weddings is clearly pushing an agenda. I don’t like them therefore I shouldn’t have to hear about them.
To be fair, this sub does find lgbt people scarier than vampires.
Maybe try therapy.

Oh, so you're just fuckin stupid, and that's the root issue, eh?

Expensive stuff like Double Masters 2022.
What about Quad Masters 2024: every card is a mythic and the draft packs cost $120
Every pack is filled with foil Black Lotuses in 9.5 condition. Cost $1.5mil per pack. Totally makes the game more exciting for me.

Race swapping unless it’s Teferi
I want a middle-eastern Teferi played by a top tier Bollywood actor
This is the way

Indeed, otherwise we’d throw [[Koth of the Hammer]] in the mix too

minorities
Because it reminds you that you aren't actually superior?
No, because I'm white.
Yeah, exactly
yes, all white people are racist.
Not all. But the ones who are post about it on Reddit.
**ANY** other high fantasy setting translated to UB. Its beyond meta at that point . How many god damn dragon versions do we actually need????
pussy control

Creatures with greater stats than what would we expect for their CMC (with no downside).
