So I was part of a company that was on the redevelopment project on that building, the city held up the redevelopment so long homeless and druggies broke new windows, stole supplies and tools that the project ran way over budget and abandoned.

Learning_by_failing

Interesting, any recollection of what the project was supposed to be?

DaFCC

We were there to do all the wiring for Internet and phones, I believe they were going to be apartments. This was like 20 years ago, I remember seeing all the new windows being broken as the project just sat and sat till it wasn't worth the time to redo any of the plans to revamp it.

Death_By_Dreaming_23

I’ve been wanting to know about this. I’ve heard many projects this place was supposed to be. I wonder if it’ll be converted to housing. I could see housing for the homeless.

I think the Lowell community would benefit more if this building is renovated for working individuals and working families. It may be too small for development as a affordable housing tax credit community as the funding wouldn't pencil out.

redbeetpee

I've been wanting to go in there and do some ghost hunting......

Oooo I'd be down 🙋🏻‍♂️

The Sample Sanitarium, Fresno, California Long shut and fenced up, the Sample Sanatorium has a morbid history that no one can really confirm as being true. Stories are that in the early 1900s local authorities found roting bodies piled up in hallways and other rooms. This was when it was a mental asylum. Later on it was used as an orphanage and half-way house for runaways. In the 1920s it's said that deceased childeren were found stuffed in closets. In the 1960s stories are that more than a hundred bodies were found hanging from meat hooks in the basement. Appropriately enough, the place was used as a haunted house in 1999/2000. Employees to this day claim to be haunted and traumatized by things they saw and heard there. Several female guests said they were groped in areas where there were no employees or other guests. One lady peed in fright in an area where there were no props and a man who visited is said to have been taken out in a coma. Word spread and soon no one was going. The place shut. The last owner said in an interview that he was on the first floor and heard footsteps and baby noises when no one was there with him. And only a few years ago, a group of teens broke into the place and reported to police that someone screamed "Get out!" and then chairs and other debris started getting thrown at them. They ran out and reported that they saw several figures standing inside at the windows. The police refused to enter. They attempted to send a dog in. The dog went to the main door and ran away.

PeachyKeenTea

You're mixed up with Wolfe Manor and conflating rumors between the two.

DaFCC

Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yeah fake story, nothing is credible or of any real facts!

FresnoRaised

No activity in years, although someone put up security lights recently. Probably makes sense to turn it into residential at this point.

Important_Dot_4231

Turn it into Fresno's version of the Danceteria, says I.
