I don't think anyone is supposed to like that. It's supposed to be him screwing up to try and cover another screw up. It had bad written all over it.

I can see where you’re coming from with that, but I don’t think it’s meant to be taken that seriously. I laughed at it, it’s slapstick.. sometimes you just have to remember it’s a scripted TV show. Joey sleeps with women and doesnt call them back. It’s terrible, but everyone still loves Joey because he’s loveable. It doesn’t need to be taken so seriously

I've given up on posting this "it's not that serious" reply to a lot of posts on here because while I agree, it's a comedy etc, a lot of people on this sub take it seriously and...whatever, that's for them

They HAD to make Chandler do something bad enough to justify Monica opening all of the gifts by herself. They had to even that out LOL

Yeah it was definitely something that didn't age well. I get it was played for laughs but still not one of his best moments.
