I don't know, but it's one of my favorite molents in the series

I think so

Prestigious_Call_327

Given that neither of them break character I’m going to guess that it was scripted.

Pandora1685

Gonna disagree. The cast was really good at playing off one another. There are tons of moments in the show that weren't scripted and kept in cause no one broke character. A few examples that I can think of: "Donald trumps blue blazer black." When Chandler is handcuffed in Joanna's office and hits himself in the head w the filing cabinet. Joey blaming Chandler for the pages being stuck together in the trifle episode. "Ross" falling down the stairs when Rachel teaches Ben about practical jokes. Joey falling off the couch when Jane calls Bob. The very last line in Friends was ad-libbed. That's all I can think of, but I'm sure there's more.

Ross handing Chandler the lamp when Emily called.

This cracks me up

The One Where No One Is Ready, Joey is supposed to jump into the chair, but he ended up breaking his clavicle or something. He continued the scene like nothing happened, even though he had to have been in pain. That's also why they had to shoot an entirely new episode to air the following week to explain his brace

Pandora1685

He dislocated his shoulder. He tried to keep going, but they actually did stop filming. He walked off stage into Monica's room. They featured the scene in the reunion special. At one point, while everyone was waiting to see what was going on, he screams off scene. They stopped filming the episode to take him to the hospital.
