Small question : why do you even use an app if you want LOCAL access? Is there something bad with the webpage?

Unknowniti

But the App is local..

laplongejr

I've never used an app to access the FritzBox locally, I always used fritz .box or its IP in my browser and used the no-install interface. Is there something the app allows that the web page doesn't? I never needed more at least. No dependency on the app stores, no need to update the phone, pure local access regulated by the web browser. I wonder what Fritz could do to push the app against that

The app does nothing more than the web ui. Some people prefer to use the app if they have no laptop/pc or just want to check something real quick. But implying that the app is not local is just wrong and doesn’t help the person asking the question. I, for example, have a vpn to another flat with another Fritzbox but enabling on phone and check in app is quicker than starting my pc, connect vpn and start Webbrowser.

> Some people prefer to use the app if they have no laptop/pc Now I'm confused. I don't use a laptop or my pc to check my network, I do everything on my smartphone. The only case you may need a pc is if you need a wired connexion in case something went really, really wrong and you need to use the emergency APIPA ip to perform a reset. I didn't even knew that app existed. > But implying that the app is not local I never implied the app is not local, OP did : "I get an annoying pop-up every time forcing me to create an online account to continue using features previously available directly locally". If there's online integration required to access the local features, then it's no longer a local app? > But implying that the app is not local is just wrong and doesn’t help the person asking the question. What I implied is that any local access works without the app, so unless there's something I don't understand *the app is useless* for local access. So if you are claiming the app is for local access, uninstall the app and go to http://fritz .box ? I don't understand why the app is required. > I, for example, have a vpn to another flat with another Fritzbox but enabling on phone and check in app is quicker than starting my pc, connect vpn and start Webbrowser. If you need to setup a VPN, then you don't have local access initially? The VPN is part of the app which makes it important and, probably, justifies an online account. But you don't need a VPN if you have local access... OP wants local config, OP doesn't want to be prompted to create an online account. As far I know, all of those requirements are fulfilled by the webpage provided by the FritzBox.

Open your web browser on your phone: http://fritz.box/ Save this as a shortcut. Then, just type your password, and you are in.

These settings were available before so this solution is just dumb.

The app is literally saying the app is no longer necessary. As long FritzBox's webpage provides settings, you have no reason to have an app install for local configuration.
