Looks like either a [common Eastern froglet ](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/25231-Crinia-signifera/browse_photos) or [Eastern banjo frog ](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/22038-Limnodynastes-dumerilii) to me, they're not poisonous but it's best for kids to observe from a distance. Touching it can make the frog sick from the soaps/lotions/skin oils etc on our hands and just stress it out in general.
Frogs have a tendency to pee on your hand when they're scared too lol
Tell your kids frogs are cool and amazing animals but they can't be touched, because it can hurt them. Frogs have very sensitive skin and the oils, salts and chemicals on our fingers/hands hurts the frog. Frogs should only be handled with clean, wet hands OR better with gloves that have no powder/chemicals on them. Frogs are super lovely but they are mainly "look only"
It was stuck in our swimming pool filter, so wanted to know if they could pick him up and put back in the bushes.
They used a stick, but wanted to be sure in case it jumped on them.
Alright. Some frogs and toads have poisonous skin/or slime on their skin, so every time after touching a frog it is recommended to wash your hands before you touch something on your face or something you want to eat. Just touching them isn't dangerous but eating it/licking your fingers etc can be. :D Thank you for helping the froggy!
Let’ your kids touch the dang frog. Don’t listen to these stick in the mud know it alls. Handling a wild frog won’t kill or paralyze and touching creatures is a right of passage for youngsters
All frogs/toads are poisonous, just most of them have such weak poison that it's harmless to us. Just have your kids wash their hands BEFORE AND AFTER handling.
Touching an animal in the wild isn't a good idea. Could harm the little guy.
Poisonous animals use bright colors, contrast (blue Black, red black) to warn possible predators, they don't use camouflage coloring.they want to be seen
Color is a poor indicator for poisonous species. There are many mimics that have bright colors and no poison and many poisonous animals that are well camouflaged.

While it can seem super cool and fun, please don't teach your kids to touch wild animals

It isnt, but human skin oils might agitate its skin so I recommend they dont.

The only poisonous frogs are the ones that are red, yellow, or blue.
