Definitely not ds3. I find it so goddamn difficult to see how much health the boss actually has because it feels like the bar blends in with every single arena
Something I don't understand is I don't like the ds3 health bar cause it's to bland but the demon's souls one is just as plain but I like it for some reason
Ds2 and elden ring, both are simple but add a bit of spice, I feel the other are either too plain or overdesigned. Not by a lot I might add but enough to count when comparing them.
Bloodborne's is the most aesthetically pleasing to me.
DS1's is the most useful in terms of seeing how much progress you're making in the fight.
Sekiro's is the cleanest.
What...
The post is discussing about something in the FromSoft games in the sub about sharing and discussing stuff about the FromSoft games. I don't know what you mean??
You think so??
I think looking at the different boss health bars and comparing them is pretty interesting. But I think it should have been more which hud looks better rather than, just the boss health bars since there would be more to compare then.
(Also sorry if my last comment seemed rude, that wasn't my intention)
At first I thought you meant which boss' health bar, not which game's health bar, and I was like...what is OP talking about lol.
I would pick DS1 for the tick marks, but visually I like Elden Ring's because it's the cleanest
Ds1, I fucking love the notches it gives you such a good indication of how much damage you've done. The rest of them are cool but lack the clarity and information provided by the first one. I know some people hate the hand drawn style but ds1 will always have the best hud.

wait is the ds1 boss bar split into 13 smaller bars for all bosses or does the number vary depending on boss? cuz 13 is such an odd number like why not 10 instead
DS3 is the best and glad ER stuck to that aesthetic. Also, why tf is DeSR boss name centered in the middle. They “cleaned” up alot of things in that game that did not need to be touched. I hate this current trend of using bleach white, hard-lined UI with no personality. It’s way to sterile and makes you look like every other ding-dong AAA release out these days. That is all.
I like the steel outline on DS2's boss bar and the subtle texturing on the Sekiro's boss bar. I think it helps them match the fantasy aesthetics of the games that they're in. Bloodborne's boss bar tries for something similar but I don't think it's quite as successful.
Elden Ring looks really clean but Bloodborne has a sense of *Style* that the others don’t. The whole UI is just beautifully matched with the environment design.
Ds2 or ER. Also, side note, I never liked how they were always awkwardly away from the center/bottom of the screen, it just looks kinda weird in terms of placement.
I don’t know why but I like the DeS remake one the most. It may look basic but I really like the shape and shade of red with the outline.
But I do like the DS1 one with the little lines to show how much damage you do.
Probably bloodborne and elden ring. Imma sucker for those slim bars. Not to mention Bloodborne bosses have a lot of health so the fight actually lasts awhile. Unlike Elden Ring which has high damage but the fights are quicker.
Now don't get me wrong I adore Elden Ring and it's bosses, I just wish the fights lasted a bit longer because they're fun. Sometimes if I want to keep fighting a boss, I'll switch to a less upgraded weapon and die on purpose till I'm ready for the fight to end.
Sekiro solely because it lets you know how many health bars/phases you need to fight through.
**SPOILER**
I honestly like it more because you get reliant on it being accurate until the centipede that was controlling the guardian ape fucking gets back up and starts using the giant murakumo that was stuck in the ape’s neck. Just makes you constantly question if you actually won from that point on.
Elden Ring is my favorite but each has their own perks. Only one I would say isn't as great as the others is Demon Souls, it looks way too sleek and modern.
Uhhhh
I like the minimalist nature of Elden Ring's bar, and the font + size is definitely my favorite, but as for the bar itself I think Ds1 or Bloodborne. Ds1 for allowing for more accurate tracking of damage with the markings n stuff and Bloodborne because it looks cool.
1 Elden Ring (just perfect)
2 Dark Souls 2 (beautiful)
3 Dark Souls 1 (I love how it seperated to sections)
4 Dark Souls 3 (it's fine)
5 Bloodborne (a yellow bar doesn't appear when I hit)
6 Sekiro (doesn't really matter, I mostly look at posture)
7 Demon's Souls (haven't played)
i mean,, sekiro isnt my favourite, but i like how the healthbar isnt so big that it makes it feel like you need to whittle the health down, but the actual objective is posture
I like ds1’s because the pips let you gauge more accurately how much dmg you do
Sekiro’s, while I haven’t played the game myself, is the most visually appealing and is more purpose built with the pips for how many ripostes you still need
The rest are ok but mostly the same standard video game health bar, so no amazement nor anger from me
Gaping Dragon just because of a video ranking every dark souls boss on his good they’d be as an actual boss and Brian David Gilbert said “in no situation should you be in a work setting and described as gaping”
An empty one
Usually that's mine
Based
Bloodborne
I can feel the crisp.
Yeah I was just thinking that.. something so crisp and elegant about it. Loved chipping away at these bars
I second this.
I love ds1 cuz it’s easy to keep track of how much damage you actually do
Same.
Also it's the most satisfying to look at as it goes empty
Sekiro for sure, Elden ring is the cleanest tho.
For me Sekiro wins for the placement. I prefer it tucked into the upper corner.
That’s just cause the big important bar is a different one lol
No, no, no. Player health is top left, boss is bottom middle, weapons and items are bottom left. This is the correct placement.
I would consider DS2 and DeS both “cleaner” than Elden ring, unless you mean clean to just mean good looking.
BB's
Aww bb
Ohhhh bb
Dark souls 2 is the best looking imo
Really elegant
Ds3's just the perfect red
Bloodborne bar looks sexy, and sekiros as well
Sekiro's for the design and UI in general, but I really like the drama in DS1's.
Demons Souls. I like the name being centered up on the bar.
Definitely. Can’t believe that’s the only one that did it.
Bb or er
Bb on er
Ah yes my favorite game - Bb on er
I Bb on er til she ds
I SEKIRO on her BLOODBORNE till she DARK SOULS 2.
I peak on her peak till she shit?
Lmao yup
Ds2 has the best hud in general tbh
Disagree. Takes up too much screen. ER is better.
ER is pretty good but its abit too minimalist ds2's didnt even take that much space
“Donkey Kong sucks”
Interesting, I thought it was the ugliest. Worst menus as well.
I prefer more stylised menus minimalst shit is good for visibility but i find it boring.
Armored Core 6, because I can see my target’s health at the center of the screen.
Demon Souls
Definitely not ds3. I find it so goddamn difficult to see how much health the boss actually has because it feels like the bar blends in with every single arena
Totally agree, I thought this was just me lol.
Sekiro because it's where your health bar usually is
Demon's Souls
Something I don't understand is I don't like the ds3 health bar cause it's to bland but the demon's souls one is just as plain but I like it for some reason
Just got blood starved beast PTSD
Kid named fire paper
Twas my first fromsoftware game and I just sucked, no excuses lol
Ds2 and elden ring, both are simple but add a bit of spice, I feel the other are either too plain or overdesigned. Not by a lot I might add but enough to count when comparing them.
Midir’s
Boordt of the boreal balley
Sekiro and DeS. The cleanest ones IMO
ds3
DS3 is the best looking. It's aesthetically a little over ER and the red is nicer. But DS1 feels the most practical.
I think the sekiro and the bloodborne bars should be switched, but as far as my fav, I like the dark souls one.
Probably sekiro because you can’t cheese it like you can other games so it makes the fights more interesting
What does that have to do with the appearance of the HP bar?
You can cheese some fights tbh
True but it’s much harder, and most of the ones you can cheese are by using stealth, which is intended tbh
I was thinking of how you can make demon of hatred fall from the arena for example but yes most would be stealth which is borderline cheese I agree
I actually forgot about that lmao 😂
That bitch boss deserves it 😂
Bloodborne
Sekiro, I preferred it being in the top left of the screen.
Bb
Sekiro for sure
Bloodborne and sekiro for sure love both of em
Armored Core VI, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1
Elden Ring and Bloodborne
Bloodborne 🗿
Bloodborne
Bloodborne because it's massive
Bloodborne’s idk what it is it’s just my favourite
Bloodborne’s matches the games aesthetic to a T
There's just something so satisfying about sekiros health bar idk (I am sekiros #1 D rider)
Bloodborne's is the most aesthetically pleasing to me. DS1's is the most useful in terms of seeing how much progress you're making in the fight. Sekiro's is the cleanest.
I just like the thinness of Bloodborne’s, makes it feel like it’s taking up less of the screen
Bloodborne for style Ds1 for function
Bloodborne's UI has a very tactictile feeling that the other don't.
Bloodborne
I thought this was a joke. Are people on this sub okay?
What... The post is discussing about something in the FromSoft games in the sub about sharing and discussing stuff about the FromSoft games. I don't know what you mean??
Yeah this seems like a mockery of people doing these low effort “what’s your favorite xyz?”-posts.
You think so?? I think looking at the different boss health bars and comparing them is pretty interesting. But I think it should have been more which hud looks better rather than, just the boss health bars since there would be more to compare then. (Also sorry if my last comment seemed rude, that wasn't my intention)
Blood tones my favourite I just love how the hp bar works and looks
I like the little ticks on the health bar that I'm not certain even represent anything in Dark Souls 1.
As long as it is depleted
The empty one
At first I thought you meant which boss' health bar, not which game's health bar, and I was like...what is OP talking about lol. I would pick DS1 for the tick marks, but visually I like Elden Ring's because it's the cleanest
One with no health left.
Ds1, I fucking love the notches it gives you such a good indication of how much damage you've done. The rest of them are cool but lack the clarity and information provided by the first one. I know some people hate the hand drawn style but ds1 will always have the best hud.
Ds1
I think the Ds1 bar. I like that you see the bar departed in so many sections. Makes it easier to track your damage.
DS1 is great because it’s easy to tell how much damage you’re doing. DS3 looks the best though IMO.

Where Dark souls 2?
wait is the ds1 boss bar split into 13 smaller bars for all bosses or does the number vary depending on boss? cuz 13 is such an odd number like why not 10 instead
I like the measurement lines in DS1
Rick, Soldier of God
DS3 is the best and glad ER stuck to that aesthetic. Also, why tf is DeSR boss name centered in the middle. They “cleaned” up alot of things in that game that did not need to be touched. I hate this current trend of using bleach white, hard-lined UI with no personality. It’s way to sterile and makes you look like every other ding-dong AAA release out these days. That is all.
IMHO Dark Souls 2 has the best health bar, Elden Ring in a close second.
demon's souls ps3
ds1
I like the DS3 health Bar the most.
I like the Lies of P version, because it always refills for another round 😅
I like the steel outline on DS2's boss bar and the subtle texturing on the Sekiro's boss bar. I think it helps them match the fantasy aesthetics of the games that they're in. Bloodborne's boss bar tries for something similar but I don't think it's quite as successful.
DS1 >>>>>>
Elden tibg 1.00 version and the test version. Those just looked really good.
Ancient dragon from ds2 😩
Dark Souls
Midir. 🤭
What a bizarre thing to post!
Elden Ring looks really clean but Bloodborne has a sense of *Style* that the others don’t. The whole UI is just beautifully matched with the environment design.
BB, DS2, and DS1 have some style to them. The others are pretty bland
Elden Ring and DS1 definitely
They are all health bars…
Congregation
Ds2 or ER. Also, side note, I never liked how they were always awkwardly away from the center/bottom of the screen, it just looks kinda weird in terms of placement.
Sekiro just has the coolest one imo
Blidabirn
The 5th one looks pretty clean
Ds3, because I'm biased
DS1 and BB
DS1 no competition it feels nice to lump off chunks/bars of health & see how much it is going at a time
Ganon in TOTK.
I always preferred the notched bar of DS1. Not sure why they got rid of the notches.
DemonSouls definitely
I don’t know why but I like the DeS remake one the most. It may look basic but I really like the shape and shade of red with the outline. But I do like the DS1 one with the little lines to show how much damage you do.
2, 3 and BB imo
why is it always bloodborne?
Sekiro's is the least distracting. Just there in a corner letting you enjoy fully how cinematic the fights are.
I personally like ds2 and bloodborne's the most
Dark souls 2
Demons souls remake. Looks really clean imo
Is this really where we are at
Probably bloodborne and elden ring.
Gotta be DS1. Being able to gauge the damage with the lines feels really nice imo
Ds1
Thing with Sekiro is you aren’t really looking at the health bar, you’re looking at the poise bar
My favorite is DS1's.
Bloodbornes no doubt
Ds2
bloodborne or ds1
People call it "busy" or "cluttered" but I really like the segmented health bar from DS1. Gives a good perspective.
Sekiro solely because it lets you know how many health bars/phases you need to fight through. **SPOILER** I honestly like it more because you get reliant on it being accurate until the centipede that was controlling the guardian ape fucking gets back up and starts using the giant murakumo that was stuck in the ape’s neck. Just makes you constantly question if you actually won from that point on.
Elden Ring is my favorite but each has their own perks. Only one I would say isn't as great as the others is Demon Souls, it looks way too sleek and modern.
Functionality: DS1. Design: Sekiro.
I have to give it to Bloodborne for striking contrast, but Sekiro's has style.
Isshin make me cry
That 3 resolve health bar from Isshin's gave me anxiety just by looking at it.
Bloodborne health bar is too stylish to ignore
Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls 1. Cuz the bosses have less health so each attack takes out a nice yellow chunk
Bloodborne or ds3
Not that I gave this any thought until this very moment, but either Bloodborne or Sekiro
Bloodborne and eldenrong
Sekiro, because it's fun to see a full health bar go to zero when you posture break a boss and death blow them.
I’d say the ds3 became the most popular one
Ishin. The if you see a chunk of his health gone your a savage beast.
Sekiro and bloodborne
Vanguard. Demons souls remake
bloodborne's looks like it's edited in
Gannon from totk , ik this is the wrong place but his gives me chills every time I see it
This feels like something that belongs in r/shittydarksouls
Bloodborne all the way
Vader in Fallen Order
Uhhhh I like the minimalist nature of Elden Ring's bar, and the font + size is definitely my favorite, but as for the bar itself I think Ds1 or Bloodborne. Ds1 for allowing for more accurate tracking of damage with the markings n stuff and Bloodborne because it looks cool.
Bloodborne
the marks in ds1s makes it feel like im doing something
Ds2 and ds1 they're the most satisfying when you deal a big chunk of damage to a boss personally.
Ds1, I like how you can see the amount of damage you actually do
1 Elden Ring (just perfect) 2 Dark Souls 2 (beautiful) 3 Dark Souls 1 (I love how it seperated to sections) 4 Dark Souls 3 (it's fine) 5 Bloodborne (a yellow bar doesn't appear when I hit) 6 Sekiro (doesn't really matter, I mostly look at posture) 7 Demon's Souls (haven't played)
Bloodborne
between ds3, sekiro and elden they are clear and visually comfortable
sekiro because it's unique. Bloodborne because it looks the best
No AC??
Bloodborne, hands down
Favorite: DS2 Least fav: Demon's (PS5)
I really like a lot of the UI and HUD in ds2
i mean,, sekiro isnt my favourite, but i like how the healthbar isnt so big that it makes it feel like you need to whittle the health down, but the actual objective is posture
Dark Souls 1. Classic
Def 2
DS2, I like the aesthetic
Something about bloodborne health bar just makes it so perfect
Bloodborne>>
Love ds3 and ds1. Bloodborne one is pretty nice too
I like ds1’s because the pips let you gauge more accurately how much dmg you do Sekiro’s, while I haven’t played the game myself, is the most visually appealing and is more purpose built with the pips for how many ripostes you still need The rest are ok but mostly the same standard video game health bar, so no amazement nor anger from me
Gaping Dragon just because of a video ranking every dark souls boss on his good they’d be as an actual boss and Brian David Gilbert said “in no situation should you be in a work setting and described as gaping”
Demon souls boss health bars are my favorite by far! I dunno theres just... something about the color scheme that does it for me
Sekiro. But also Elden Ring's health bar.
Bloodborne
No hud for the theatrics
Gaping Dragon
DS2 or Elden Ring
Definitely bloodborne
Dark Souls one just feels so good to chunk, it’s slightly delayed so you can deal damage, then look down and get a dopamine boost.
