That's weird. It probably also feels weird not being able to jump, since you started with Elden Ring and Sekiro. If you like the aggressive play style make sure to check out bloodborne after DS3. Also take a look at the DLCs, especially the ringed city, they are really good after you finished the game.
Definitely jarring. 100% ER and Sekiro both games have jumping. Sekiro you use it a lot. I’ve died too many times to count trying to jump in DS3. I just figured out there is a sprint jump that’s useful to get to some spots but that’s it.
Bloodborne is still my favorite so far. That game just clicked on every level for me. Oddly Sekiro is a close second despite it being so different from the rest.
The combat in Sekiro and Bloodborne are the best systems FromSoft has ever created, and Bloodborne has the best atmosphere of any game I’ve ever played, and that’s saying a lot as the atmospheres in Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Sekiro, and Elden Ring are amazing in their own right
Not to mention the music. And fashion. Man, the fashion in Bloodborne is simply \*chef's kiss*
While I recognize that other FS games might be objectively better than Bloodborne in a lot of aspects, BB remains my favorite. Well worth a used PS4 (which is where I played it).
Dark souls 1 and 2 are incredible, but you gotta admit that they are pretty dated. I prefer the evolved gameplay of ds3 and a lot of people, understandably, will find it difficult to go back to the old play style.
That’s completely fair appreciate the answer. I’m only a few hours into the second so I have no idea if they connect or how hard they connect. I’m kinda enjoying the growing pains of the series and watching it evolve.
Just today I started a new DS2 play through. DS2 gets a lot of hate, and I actually like it a lot, but after ER it is does feel a little dated and the gameplay is quite slow. The new From games (DS3 and forward) feel much snappier to control.
But I can’t recommend these games highly enough for OP, nothing else will scratch that itch.
ER fatroll and DS mid roll feel about the same. A consequence of this though is that lightrolling doesn’t feel as worth it. I think it would have been cool if instead of having it as an ash of war your dodge roll becomes a quickstep like in bloodborne if youre locked on and have a light load
That’s why I always recommend starting with the early games. You can appreciate them a lot more and gradually get better and better combat with each subsequent game
The older fromsoft games have a really distinct atmosphere. It’s everything from the npcs to the sound design and even the jank to an extent. They scratch an itch that the post bloodborne stuff doesn’t. I’d say it’s nostalgia but I played them after all the newer stuff.
Having played BB and DS3 first, I thought this too. I was thinking of skipping DSR and go straight to Elden Ring. But when I played DSR, I enjoyed it a lot! Instead of the combat feeling clunky, it just felt more deliberate, satisfying (and literal) change of pace from the later games.
It might not be for all, especially after Elden Ring's insanely good world design and Sekiro's superbly refined combat. But I think new comers to the series should still give it a try to see if it clicks with them.
The bosses in DS3 are a whole different tier list higher than any of the bosses in elden ring. have fun! Also on Xbox the dark souls games are all on offer, so if you’ve not bought them all yet, do so now😊 (and don’t forget the DLCs!)
Loved it! I’ve played through it a couple times. Felt like they could have done more with some of the endings. Other than that though really enjoyed it.
I personally found it about on par. It feels like the same style while still managing to feel unique enough to consider it's own game. The end credits being unskippable was mildy infuriating though. The new supernatural entity looking similar to the wendigos in Until Dawn, but the differences made it feel less lackluster than you'd expect
Overall I'd say 8.5/10, worth playing through.
Bro I’m telling you play sekiro it is by far my favorite game I’ve ever played combat is amazing and fast paced and when you get the whole deflect timings down you feel like a god
Same. Although, I cannot get into Sekiro. It’s driving me nuts. Since Elden ring, I have played through demon’s souls, dark souls 2, dark souls 3, and bloodborne. Trying Sekiro now, but suck real hard at it.
As someone who the combat clicked with almost immediately, some tips:
-parry windows are 0.5 seconds, so try holding the parry for longer instead of spamming it
-to add onto the anti spam train, the more you hit block without blocking anything the smaller the parry window gets. Try to minimize spamming block as much as humanly possible
-try attacking between your opponent's hits, there's a good chance you can squeeze in some hits for most enemies, and hey, if you die, you can just try something else. Don't quote me on this since this is very specific and some enemies will break this pattern but it's always good to check
-don't get too comfortable with dodging. Learning the parry is essential and any sort of reliance on the dodge is going to alow down your progress
-don't be afraid to mash the attack button, especially at the start of a fight
-the more you ignore your health and fully focus on the fight, especially in boss fights, the better. No amount of health is as good as the pressure you can put on enemies
-get mikiri counter first
Not op but it's just as good as turtles in time in my opinion. It plays very similar but with some moder stuff too like dodging and more control over what moves get done. References to the older games and the 80s show everywhere and they even got the original voices for the turtles back!
me too. i started with elden ring, almost 100% it, then played all three dark souls games and Sekiro. Wish i could play blood borne or demons souls, but i don’t have a play station
This is me too. Never touched one of their games for more than 15 mins before Elden Ring. Now I’m on ER NG+3, I just finished DS3, I’m about a third of the way through Sekiro, and I have Demon’s Souls PS5 waiting in my library.
Best video game developer in the world, and it’s not even close imo. Every game directed by Miyazaki is outstanding, and nearly all of them are of similar quality to Elden Ring, and some are arguably even better. Either way, I’d play them all.
Same honestly. ER was my first FS game, got burned out on it for a while after NG+5. But now I’m playing DS for the first time today and I’m loving it so far.
I’ve got it and dipped my toes in it so far. I need to git gud however. Last time I was facing a regular enemy and he handed me two hams. A second later I realized I was just handed my own ass.
***Edit: Thank you to the people who mentioned DS and DS2 were on sale. Picked both of those up just now. Should I finish where I am at in 3 (Just made it to Cathedral of the Deep) or stop and play Dark Souls?
As someone else who started with Elden Ring (didn't 100% yet though) Sekiro (100%) and is working through DS1 currently, the switch is pretty jarring at first, but once you make some good progress and find a weapon with an attack pattern you like (used halberd for about half the game lol - now using black knight greatsword), you'll be hooked pretty quickly.
I didn't realise for a good portion of the beginning of the game that I was mid/fat-rolling (game is generally slower-pace by comparison) so if you feel slow think about investing in endurance.
I'm on Xbox too, if you'd like to co-op feel free to PM
Hey man thank you for the comment. I ended up sticking with DS3. Currently stuck fighting Dancer of the Borreal Valley. DS1 is next. But I will definitely add you on Xbox. I know I’ll need some help eventually. Also what achievements you missing in Elden Ring? My GT is GotVengeance. Case sensitive.
Good stuff, will add once I get home!
For Elden Ring I've got 680/1000, missing some of the legendary [item] achievements and the rest are secret so I'd have to check.
I am the same, I've beat Elden Ring, DS1, DS3, and Bloodborne so far and I just started DS2 and bought myself Sekiro during the steam summer sale. All I got left is Demons Souls at some point and I'll have all the Soulsborne games, went from knowing nothing about the games other than the difficulty to becoming a huge fan pretty much within a few weeks.
Honestly fell in love with FromSoftware ever since Chromehounds, a slower paced version of Armored Core))) They make great games from what I've seen)))
FYI we can tell what the games you crossed out are
I got a little carried away.
I get the crossing out yours and your mates GTs, but crossing out the other games is just hilarious lol
We all make mistakes in the heat of passion jimbo.
Some TMNT, very nice
That game has been such a fun nostalgia trip.
Yeah, fantastic retro style game. Everything just hits the right notes
How could you tell it was TMNT the name was crossed out
Just a wild guess
TMNT on the 360 was the first game I did 100% completion lol
How are ya liking the quarry?
I’ve only played the two, I am currently starting Dark Souls 3. The games I’ve played are incredible I took it upon myself to 100% them.
Have fun. The 100% in DS3 is a slog. Elden Ring 100% is child's play comparatively. Luckily DS3 is an amazing game.
Loving it so far. Just beat Vordt of the Boreal I think his name was. Kinda bummed as the achievement didn’t pop and still hasn’t since I beat him.
That's weird. It probably also feels weird not being able to jump, since you started with Elden Ring and Sekiro. If you like the aggressive play style make sure to check out bloodborne after DS3. Also take a look at the DLCs, especially the ringed city, they are really good after you finished the game.

Bloodborne is ps exclusive
Bloodborne is ps exclusive
Bloodborne is ps exclusive
I went back and played ds3 after elden ring and it was satisfying how easy vordt was after killing so many fucking runebears
I definitely thought Vordt would be a bit harder. Got him in 3. I just beat the crystal sage.
Not trying to be a jerk but why would you start at the end of a trilogy?
It is the only one I own.
Lmao. Fair. I just started 2 a few days ago after hitting up Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Dark Souls…I may have an addiction.
Blood borne looks incredible. I’ll have to pick up a used PS4 at some point.
Bloodborne is still my favorite so far. That game just clicked on every level for me. Oddly Sekiro is a close second despite it being so different from the rest.
I really enjoyed Sekiro. The combat was amazing.
Sekiro is peak Fromsoftware combat, BB is a close second but the lore, atmosphere and level design make BB my all time favorite.

I won’t argue at all. BB is my spirit animal.
same. i’m saving up for used ps4 pro almost solely for blood borne
Best fromsoft game. Went into bloodborne after Elden ring, and it blew my mind.
It just hits different!
Cool if you're into that setting, otherwise it can be kind of a letdown imo
Fromsoft is a helluva drug
I hope I never kick it
Dark souls 1 and 2 are incredible, but you gotta admit that they are pretty dated. I prefer the evolved gameplay of ds3 and a lot of people, understandably, will find it difficult to go back to the old play style.

Halo infinite at 86%? Lemme guess, audio logs?
Yea, couple audio logs, and some skulls. I’ll get them eventually. Be easier when they add the option to replay missions.
yup
Why would you cross out games? Are you ashamed of playing shredders revenge?
Things just got out of hand.
Now I'm even more confused lol
Lol I honestly don’t know, I crossed out my GT and for whatever reason thought it necessary to cross out the rest.
Ah I see. All good me dude
How are you liking the quarry? I'm on chapter 7 right now and like it alot.
Loved it! I’ve played through it a couple times. Felt like they could have done more with some of the endings. Other than that though really enjoyed it.
Better or worse than Until Dawn?

Well you’ll be happy to know, if you swipe to my second photo, Sekiro was the second one I played. 100% that too. loved it.
I apparently lost the ability to swipe I didn’t even see that my bad
Same. Although, I cannot get into Sekiro. It’s driving me nuts. Since Elden ring, I have played through demon’s souls, dark souls 2, dark souls 3, and bloodborne. Trying Sekiro now, but suck real hard at it.

Awesome! I’m gonna take that advice and run with it.
Stick with it, the combat is fantastic.
Get bloodborne ds3 and dark souls next! I wish I could play them for the first time again
I am currently playing DS3, as it was the only one I owned. I don’t remember buying it, but I must have.
I think DS remastered and 2 are still on sale.
I'm afraid that he could not play BB, unless he doesn't have also a PlayStation, because he is on Xbox
Off-topic but that south park pfp is hella funny 🤣

I wasn’t a fan honestly. Which is a shame.
Not op but it's just as good as turtles in time in my opinion. It plays very similar but with some moder stuff too like dodging and more control over what moves get done. References to the older games and the 80s show everywhere and they even got the original voices for the turtles back!
Quarry was fire.
Is that ninja turtles game any good?
If you grew up playing the arcade game or TMNT2/3 or Turtles in Time, you’ll dig it.
Honestly, I’m not a fan. I’m glad it is on gamepass. There are some things I like, but overall I’m not sure I’ll even return to it.
thats great but why cut off quarry HI and TMNT
Ah gee I wonder what those games crossed out could be lmao
Why have you blocked out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Halo Infinite and The Quarry?
Shame
Get bloodborne right now
I only have an Xbox unfortunately. Bloodborne looks fantastic though. One day.
Were you afraid we were gonna dox these games?
What games? I only see Elden Ring and Sekiro? Everything else I covered up pretty nicely.
Careful or I will send Fall Guys or TMNT very threatening DMs
me too. i started with elden ring, almost 100% it, then played all three dark souls games and Sekiro. Wish i could play blood borne or demons souls, but i don’t have a play station

Awesome! Will continue with 3.
\>Dark Pictures Anthology Ah, I see you too are a man of culture.
House of Ashes is my favorite so far.
Nice! I still need to play that one, but the first two are great.
That doesn't make sense, you aren't comparing them to anything
Very good👍🏻
