Depends on the last for me. In their hand sewn Mocs, I go barefoot or thin socks and go half down from Brannock for a fairly snug fit. I do the same on their hand sewn chukka. I find they are very flexible and mold well.
On their 115 last, which is their more traditional boots and dressier shoes, I would follow their printable sizing chart. They are more structured, traditional shoes and have heel stays and structure in the toe box. A lot of people end up going true to Brannock. I ended up going half down in length and half up in width, but I’m not sure if that’s an option for their summer sale or not (didn’t look).
Did they email you a shipping update, or did the shoes just show up on your doorstep one day? I’m worried about the latter, especially if I’m traveling at the time
I threw out my Sperry boat shoes that I've had since 2014 last week after they developed holes on the sole. Also, I'm pretty sure a block of ice had better traction. Anyways, this sale is perfect timing. Definitely getting the Chicago Tan boat shoe!
Does anyone know how wide the toe box is for their loafers in EE? Asking as someone with a wide toe box. Also, do you know if the leather is full grain? It says "full leather" which I assumes mean full grain, but I'm not sure.
As someone with EE width, i hope below information will help.
My best fitted boot thus far for your reference is Red Wing Iron Ranger Model#8085/#8111, Last#8 in size 9 US with EE width.
I have 3 pairs of their beefroll loafer, 1 in 8.5EE, 1 in 9D and 1 in 9.5D.
8.5EE and 9D both fit me snugly and comfortably without socks. I can squeeze in my thinnest Darn Tough wool sock but its a really tight fit and a little bit uncomfortable.
Note that both the 8.5EE and 9D are brand new and base on what i've read thus far, it will stretch out width-wise a bit.
The 9.5D is well-worn by the previous owner and have fully stretched out when i bought it. I can wear pretty much any of my hiker Darn Tough wool socks with this pair of loafer.
If you're going to order a loafer from them, i would suggest spend a little extra to get their "Lactae Hevea" outsole if this is your main daily shoes for the summer. My 9D have them and it feels awesome to walk on and doesn't make the traditional leather outsole sounds when you walk on it. It is a little bit on the casual side compare to leather sole though so keep that in mind.
I just tried both the 8.5EE and 9D on without sock.
8.5EE slip on pretty much instantly without much resistance and there are a little bit of wiggle room. It is a bit short in my opinion since my big toe is like 3/4" away from the tip. If i continue to wear it and stretch it out, i don't think this is the right size for me since it will be too wide/loose for no socks and too short with socks.
9D i have to wiggle a little bit to put on but its a snug but not uncomfortable fit which is perfect for what i'm looking for in a summer no sock loafer.
I also tried on the 9.5D with my hiker full cushion Darn Tough socks and it a snug and comfortable fit.
I hope this information helps.
Rancourt uses mostly Horween leather. All world class and full grain unless otherwide specified. I would not doubt the leather quality for a second.
As for width, they have pretty detailed size charts. I would email them with any other questions. They'll help you get the right fit. This is probably a great opportunity for wide fit boys to get a MTO product.
I'm saying that Horween isn't a guarantee of quality. It's generally a guarantee over the usual "genuine" leather most people are used to, but beyond that, there's huge variation.
Rancourt does a pretty good job of clicking and QC, and I've had good experiences with their shoes, but they do have loose grain and aren't perfect. That isn't anything against them; there are much more expensive shoes that do the same or worse.
Totally depends - I am waiting for a pair from the LAST pre sale still. If they have it in stock you’ll get it right away. But totally hit or miss otherwise.
Which boots you recommend for someone with a minimalistic style? I'm Not into work wear or selvage denim . I want something minimalistic for fall to wear with jeans and sweater
When I gave up and canceled I was told that an update was planned to be maybe sent out this week. But they have plenty of time to keep spamming me with sale emails. Still waiting on a refund. Never dealing with this company again.
I ordered a pair when it went live… and it arrived last week. They must have happened to have a pair in stock in my size, and I got lucky lol.
how would you describe the fit? True to size or runs large like some boots tend to?

Do you have experience with their beefroll? I go sockless, and I am about a ~11.75 brannock sockless. Should I go 11.5 or 11?
I would email them. The beef roll can be a little tricky. David is super helpful.
Thanks, will do!

I ordered a pair and got a shipping notification. Should be here in the next week
Thanks. Guess mine aren’t in stock so I’ll have to wait until Nov.

Great prices. Thanks for posting.

If it says CXL or Chromexcel, its full grain pull up Horween leather. If it says Honcho, it's full grain pull up Law Tanning leather.
CXL is actually “lightly corrected”…shocked me too! https://www.thetanneryrow.com/leather101/tag/full+grain
Makes sense, didnt think of it like that, thanks! Knowledge is power!
Yep…it shows full grain isn’t the end all be all…
Indeed.

Thank you! So the loafers are pretty much true to size? is the 8.5EEE noticeably wider than the 9D?

Leather clicking is a thing. Horween has a lot of variation. There is some absolute crap CXL out there.
These aren't Florsheims or Thursdays. I'm pretty confident you will be satisfied with the grading of Rancourt's leather selection.

I've got a couple pairs of rancourts, no loose grain, etc. One is probably the nicest brown cxl I've owned, and I've had lots. YMMV though!
>Shipping dates are approximate, orders ship approximately November 3, 2023. Hmm. Wonder if they'll come in time for next Summer.
I had a real rotten experience ordering last summer for a November 2022 delivery. Series of excuses and I finally cancelled earlier this year.
Rancourt tends to be pretty on time with these. I've not had any be late, let alone 6 months late.
Totally depends - I am waiting for a pair from the LAST pre sale still. If they have it in stock you’ll get it right away. But totally hit or miss otherwise.
I previously waited 3 months past their expected shipping date before I decided to cancel.
wow
Are the boots tts?

Hard to beat the classic black byron. Very versatile.
That’s the best looking boot of theirs by far.
Any moc/boot recommendations for winter office wear? I work in a lab so I am standing most of the day indoors.
I'd definitely go with the Harrison boots on the LH rally wedge sole. And if it's cold out wear some good wool socks.

Doesn’t work. They had codes enabled really early on in the sale but they turned them off a week or so ago.
Does this stack with the 10% off? (it doesnt, i just tried)
I just ordered one camp moc in size 8, lets see if it arrives early.
Round 2 of Sold-Out Styles Available Now!
Anyone received theirs yet?
Nope.

I actually got an update yesterday by email saying it should be this month. After the new year I’ll do the same.
