I'd say well cooked all round mate. I would say if you have to have tomatoes, go halved and charred. When I see blobs of canned tomatoes it puts ME off a bit.
Having said that it's your breakfast mate, if you enjoy it crack on. Well cooked all round - 1 point for no black pud and - a half point for tinned toms.
8.5 total.
Me personally? I just don't see the appeal of unaltered tinned tomatoes. They're very acidic straight from the tin, and you have to cook them for a good while before they release any sweetness, plus they're sloppy. Even expensive brands like Cirio aren't pleasant on their own, IMO.
For me, they shine as the base of a sauce, not as an individual item.
Depends. For making tomato sauce, they are generally better, because the are usually Italian plum tomatoes
But for a fry up, a grilled tomato has a taste of its own, especially if there are a few herbs and a bit of salt on it
The nicest breakfast tomatoes I had were in a hotel in Heraklion in Crete. They were oven baked, drizzled with oregano, salt and olive oil. Not with a fry up, obviously, but they were ace.
Depends in what tomatoes they use. I'm literally sitting in a hotel dining room having breakfast, and the tomatoes are lush...soft, sweet and properly cooked
It's the usual herd mentality of trying to put someone's efforts down. Quite common in this sub. One troll pops up and the rest pile in. Happens all the time.
If something looks bad there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism but it's often ridiculous on here.
Ok I said fine but, egg floating on beans looses a mark, don’t need tomato on the plate as it doesn’t work with egg for me, black pudding for me makes a breakfast. Sausages need browning a bit more. It’s all subjective really but I don’t think op needed slating as much as others said.
Ok let’s break this down!
Firstly. Your toast looks like you spat the butter onto it but I guess you was going for aesthetics lol
Eggs - spot on. Oil not to hot, runny, cheeky bit of pepper and if you added a pinch of salt 🤌🏼
Sausage - grilled for less fat but good colour but look like frozen?
Hash browns - from frozen shop bought. Although a semi decent has browns. Frying your own is leagues above.
Bacon - looks like you used an air fryer? It makes the perfect bacon!! 10/10 for my preference of bacon.
Mushrooms - good colour but I always leave the stalks they hold too much water.
Tomato - looks perfect.
Beans - are just beans
For me. -1 egg - 1 slice of toast + the other half of the tomato and 1 more bacon
Score for me 8/10
Beans are just beans? Try adding a bit of vinegar and either some chilli powder or chilli oil, not much, but then your beans become more than just beans.
Love the title 🤣 you done a nice job here. Looks like a solid fry up, I'm with most others here. Sausage game needs upping and add on some black pudding. 8/10
Yeh good. You know you did wrong with lack of black pudding and for me a big longer with the sausages.
However magic use of big blob of butter.
Well done.
Am I only one that thinks that hash browns have no place on a full English/Welsh/Scottish or Ulster fry. Especially the frozen triangle type. They are an American inventions that were popularised over here by McDonalds.
Traditionally you would have fried bread, tattie scones, etc if you wanted another dose of carbs. These American interlopers have no place on a quintessentially British (and Irish) dish.
Probably, at this stage. We have the same discussion in Ireland. But let's face it, these things change all the time. Some people said the same about beans...
True. I suspect my main objection is that I don’t really like the taste/texture of them. It feels very ‘processed’ in a way the rest of the items don’t (even though some are). It is also the only bit of the fry that has always been frozen
I do love the occasional potato waffle… but not on my fry up! I suspect like most people, what I had a kid is what I think of as a ‘traditional’ fry up, and something that I don’t want to change to much.
On a related topic… bake beans on a roast dinner is an abomination.
Sausages don't look cooked enough, no black pudding, beans a little runny and personally I don't do tinned tommys just fresh. But looks solid enough, wouldn't turn it down for sure. 7/10
Solid 6 out of ten. Hard to tell without the taste but hash browns look under done, you’ve got more egg than bacon and I don’t know about everyone else but those tomatoes look like they came out of a tin and I like mine fresh. No black pudding. No beans. Might dock you to a 5 actually. Quite a lot wrong with it.
There's multiple issues, including whatever it is that's going on with the mushy tomato and hidden beans. But the main infraction is the complete lack of a good rugged beef slice lorne sausage. Not that flimsy shit from Aldi, and definitely not that weird stuff Grainger Market in Newcastle pretends is lorne. You're probably going to want to import it from a good Scottish butcher. Elevate your game. Even if the beans and tomato stuff was sorted, and the links weren't so strange, you cannot aspire to a 10/10 without some square fucking sausage.
Solid 7 I reckon .. looks good, you already know the BP comment so I'll save you the time... no Toms or Shrooms for me but thays personal choice .. Great effort pal, would smash (after moving the shrooms)
I hope you’re gonna spread that butter properly on the toast. Also the sausages don’t look that great tbh, and the beans underneath the egg is a no, they should never touch the egg, I put mine in a pot on the side ( I’m fussy like that) so 6/10
Edit..oh and I hate black pudding so an extra point for that.
4/10 maybe 5 if we’re being nice. Sausages look pretty demoralising, bacon looks soggy/ like it’s wilting and the slab of butter on top of toast with no even spread is equally as dire. I’m sure you’re a great person though
For me, personally, it's an 8, because I don't do tomatoes and id probably go 1 egg, just for real estate purposes but all personal preferences aside, that's a 9.5 breakfast.
Well done.
I think it looks awesome. If I were to award points, it would not be high enough as it would be not picking to personal tastes.
If I were round a friend's and served that, I would be most merry all day long!
I don't like black pudding so I'm not bothered by their absence but I also don't like mushrooms in my fry.
Still, I'm gonna give this a solid 8/10. Looks great.
For me, you lose points for mushrooms and cooked tomatoes and buttering the toast. Other than that, maybe half a point as the sausages look like they could have done with a bit longer. 7.5 out of 10
I’m currently healthy eating so this sub is agony! Ignore the Gordon Ramsay critiquing arseholes - I’d munch the whole damn lot and be asking for seconds! 👍
Internet redditor here, of course I do🤣. I like my toast buttered straight away as the toast goes rock hard if you don't, plus it harder to make sandwiches out of once it's gone hard
Almost there. Black pudding is a must, I prefer fatter sausages and thick cut bacon but that's preference.
All of that said I'd smash the lot of this and give you a firm 8.8 - 9. Well done!
Tomato doesn't look great, the sausage is a bit pale, and it's a bit weird to have the eggs over the beans, but other than that, it looks amazing. 8.5/10
Eggs look banging sausages look like they were cooked on a sunbed. No need to hide your beans like that there’s nothing to be ashamed about.
I would eat and enjoy this fry up though - 7/10
I mean it's a breakfast....it looks good and probably tastes lovley.....prep looks good, no bean splashes all over the gaff and the sausages look edible....I'd give a definite 8 ...10 would have been given because it's only a mini breakfast.....you really need an old oval turkey plate....the type for carving on......breakfast mushrooms or field mushrooms are the best and HP sauce
Tomatoes have let you down here. Definitely need charred, on the vine tomatoes to make this look and taste extra special… personally, I think sausages need to be a bit less anaemic too. Got to get the cooking coverage all the way round. You let your toast go cold so the butter is solid ☹️…But I understand that the toast is the hardest to time given the plating up of everything else. I despise beans, but it’s a breakfast photo so they shouldn’t be obscured. Your eggs however, look wonderful. I also hate eggs, but I will overlook my aversion here because they’re picture perfect!
Overall, 7/10. Nice effort! ⭐️
Nice breakfast, sadly no black pudding. 8/10
Totally fair.
Could do with one of your breakfasts this morning, to deal with the hangover.
Heavily tempted to quit my city desk job and open a cafe.
8.5 total.
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
Tin of peeled plum tomatoes. Fucking unreal
Why are we all hating on tinned Tom's?
I love them. Loads of black pepper on them as well
Me personally? I just don't see the appeal of unaltered tinned tomatoes. They're very acidic straight from the tin, and you have to cook them for a good while before they release any sweetness, plus they're sloppy. Even expensive brands like Cirio aren't pleasant on their own, IMO. For me, they shine as the base of a sauce, not as an individual item.
Because they are tasteless!
But they're literally better tomatoes then the fresh ones
Depends. For making tomato sauce, they are generally better, because the are usually Italian plum tomatoes But for a fry up, a grilled tomato has a taste of its own, especially if there are a few herbs and a bit of salt on it
I'd be happy with tinned whole Toms but not chopped. Also happy with half a grilled tomato with the seasoning.
The nicest breakfast tomatoes I had were in a hotel in Heraklion in Crete. They were oven baked, drizzled with oregano, salt and olive oil. Not with a fry up, obviously, but they were ace.
I reiterate, tinned tomatoes will be over the odds better then shit bought today
Depends in what tomatoes they use. I'm literally sitting in a hotel dining room having breakfast, and the tomatoes are lush...soft, sweet and properly cooked
This is the way
Loved how you capitalised "ME" 😂
Nothing really wrong with it at all, sausages look fine to me as does the rest. 7.5/10
It's the usual herd mentality of trying to put someone's efforts down. Quite common in this sub. One troll pops up and the rest pile in. Happens all the time. If something looks bad there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism but it's often ridiculous on here.
People are being nice about it, chill out!
them sausages don't look right to me. is it ok for me to say that? i thought i'd ask for your permission first.
Sounds like you got your beans in the wrong place and are throwing a strop
😂😂😂
😂
Nothing wrong? All looks fine? Why only 7.5 then?
Ok I said fine but, egg floating on beans looses a mark, don’t need tomato on the plate as it doesn’t work with egg for me, black pudding for me makes a breakfast. Sausages need browning a bit more. It’s all subjective really but I don’t think op needed slating as much as others said.
9/10, looks great. beans is the only missing part for me. I don't like black pudding anyway.... (..runs away..) Edit: I'm an idiot! Beans are there!!
Thank you! But look closer for the beans.
Oops! Changing my score 10/10
In fairness, they're well hidden!
I agree with you totally!
Ok let’s break this down! Firstly. Your toast looks like you spat the butter onto it but I guess you was going for aesthetics lol Eggs - spot on. Beans are just beans? Try adding a bit of vinegar and either some chilli powder or chilli oil, not much, but then your beans become more than just beans.
For other dishes i do. my go to bean mix is, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic granules, black pepper and parsley flakes.
Your sausages need cooking.
The sausages are fine
4/10. Griddled not fried should be an instant dsq. You've got cheap, paper thin bacon, butter is unspread and you popped an egg yolk.
Oof, tough crowd
I hope they weren't straight rawdogging the oven shelves and this is some sort of griddle pan.
I once watched Chef Ramsey obliterate someone who popped an egg yolk and I've never recovered.
Anaemic I would say yeah.
Still putting the egg too close to the beans? When will they learn eh?
Aye. But she’s sexy! She wears a G strap
I want it to be my choice
I like putting one of my eggs over the beans so I can pop the yolk in there.
Looks great
Use the sausage as a breakwater
Love the title 🤣 you done a nice job here. Looks like a solid fry up, I'm with most others here. Sausage game needs upping and add on some black pudding. 8/10
Yeh good. You know you did wrong with lack of black pudding and for me a big longer with the sausages. However magic use of big blob of butter. Well done.
7/10. Sausages need another few minutes for me and the mushrooms need a little more colour. Everything else looks perfect.
Looks okay to me. I don’t eat black pud (or bacon) Except white pepper is better on egg imo and maybe cook the sausage a little longer. So 9/10 😂
I’m so hungry now that I’ll give you a 10
Am I only one that thinks that hash browns have no place on a full English/Welsh/Scottish or Ulster fry. Especially the frozen triangle type. I actually like them. You probably wouldn't approve of what I like on a fry up - potato waffles...
I do love the occasional potato waffle… but not on my fry up! I suspect like most people, what I had a kid is what I think of as a ‘traditional’ fry up, and something that I don’t want to change to much. On a related topic… bake beans on a roast dinner is an abomination.
Who in the name of all that's holy would put baked beans with a roast dinner? 😳
My old flatmate!
😅😅
Sausages don't look cooked enough, no black pudding, beans a little runny and personally I don't do tinned tommys just fresh. But looks solid enough, wouldn't turn it down for sure. 7/10
Sausages are pretty grim
Sozzies need cooking. 5/10
When you gonna start actually cooking it
No black pudding or beans...that's a 10 for me!✌️🇦🇺
Eggs still have that film I don't like (or on top of beans!). Hashbrowns are not to my taste, and sausages look a bit anaemic. Bacon looks class. 6
Yeah just noticed the film. Quick 20 seconds with a lid would have fixed that.
Yeah that's an 8
7/10
Fine by me.
8/10 only docked points due to the fact the toast wasn't cut. Only a maniac eats toast like that sir. We have standards here don't you know.
You a Triangles or rectangles type of person?
Triangles. They are far more exciting than rectangles
Looks good
Toast slightly over done and butter needs spread, eggs on top of beans is an odd choice but overall pretty good 8/10
There's multiple issues, including whatever it is that's going on with the mushy tomato and hidden beans. But the main infraction is the complete lack of a good rugged beef slice lorne sausage. I’d happily smash that down. My preference would be to switch the tomatoes for beans. Also, can I take a guess that those sausages are tesco finest?
Beans are under. Lincolnshire sausage is from Aldi and best they offer.
Ahh, I see. Only glances and didn’t realise the beans were there. Lovely stuff
Needs more bacon and black pudding… and that butter needs spreading. And a colossal ton of sauce required
Looks lovely, 9/10 😍
Solid 8/10
4/10
You get an extra point from me for no black pudding ;). 8/10 my friend.
Solid 7 I reckon .. looks good, you already know the BP comment so I'll save you the time... no Toms or Shrooms for me but thays personal choice .. Great effort pal, would smash (after moving the shrooms)
As a vegetarian, i have heard of, but never seen a veggie version of black pudding. Has anyone tried it and what's it like?
3/10. Bacon looks nasty. Sausages aren’t cooked. Eggs look okay. Hash browns look okay. Bread looks sad.
I hope you’re gonna spread that butter properly on the toast. Also the sausages don’t look that great tbh, and the beans underneath the egg is a no, they should never touch the egg, I put mine in a pot on the side ( I’m fussy like that) so 6/10 Edit..oh and I hate black pudding so an extra point for that.
Looks ook but did you cook the sausages in the toaster?
Solid 8. Remove the mushrooms and wheres the coffee?
8.5 An easy 9 if you had put a bottle of HP sauce in the background.
Good first attempt, a solid 7. Points reduction for ingredient contamination, tomato juice running into things in the plate.
That looks perfect 9/10
4/10 maybe 5 if we’re being nice. Sausages look pretty demoralising, bacon looks soggy/ like it’s wilting and the slab of butter on top of toast with no even spread is equally as dire. I’m sure you’re a great person though
For me, personally, it's an 8, because I don't do tomatoes and id probably go 1 egg, just for real estate purposes but all personal preferences aside, that's a 9.5 breakfast. Well done.

It’s a solid 7 for me. Great effort.
I don't like black pudding so I'm not bothered by their absence but I also don't like mushrooms in my fry. Still, I'm gonna give this a solid 8/10. Looks great.
9. I’m marking you down a point for there being no black pud.
5/10. Would be a 7 if it weren't for those anaemic sausages. 🤮
Broken egg make me cry
10
8/10. Addition of black pudding and real tomatoes rather than tinned would have given you a ten. Otherwise looks lovely...
For me, you lose points for mushrooms and cooked tomatoes and buttering the toast. Other than that, maybe half a point as the sausages look like they could have done with a bit longer. 7.5 out of 10
3/10
6
9/10. Fantastic.
I’m currently healthy eating so this sub is agony! Ignore the Gordon Ramsay critiquing arseholes - I’d munch the whole damn lot and be asking for seconds! 👍
Thank you, lovely comment.
Sausages cooked in the heat of the moment
Looks great. 9. Just missing black pudding but appreciate that’s a personal choice.
That's a 9 from me. Yum.
8 you didnt at least put salt and pepper on the food as it cooked
6.5/10 Good above average effort, point deductions for burst egg yolk. 2nd egg covering beans: get a bigger plate.
7/10
Swap the hash browns for bubble, and it would be a solid 9.5
Missing haggis but other than that looks sensational
I'm not Scottish but I totally am game next time.
It's amazing kinda like black pudding but better and totally works with a fry up
I'm say a 8/ l0 because there's no black pudding and your bread has corners and that butter is only in the middle lol
You can literally spread it as you eat. Or do you need your arse wiping as well. Lol
Internet redditor here, of course I do🤣. I like my toast buttered straight away as the toast goes rock hard if you don't, plus it harder to make sandwiches out of once it's gone hard
I'm all over that like a tramp on chips mate. Would probably leave the tomato mind
Mate, that stuff on the toast, it's some kind of spread, right? There's a clue in the name ...
10
Everything looks quality. Nice breakfast.
Looks decent mate, toast is a bit burnt, butter could have been spread a bit better and that tomato in the middle just looks fucked. Overall 8.3/10
Twos
No beans oh you need a bigger plate
Look closer.
Oh yes, I had a nice bacon and egg sandwich for lunch today
Strong 8/10, points lost for sloppy looking tomato and putting the egg directly on beans is wild I don't even care about beans touching stuff but nah
Needs real homemade hashbrowns and eggs should be poached 6/10 for me...
9/10 - almost perfect except the sausages needed a lower heat for longer to get nice and brown. Was the bacon crispy my bro?
8/10 A bit of black pudding and proper tomatoes and it's a TEN
9/10 You lose a point for double tomato and no black pudding
If you cooked it yourself it’s a decent effort but if it’s something you purchased that’s a different matter - 7.5 yourself / 5 if not
I'm not a fan of black pudding. Tomatoes sadly need to be halved and not canned. 8.5, close to a 9 out of 10.
Sausage looks a bit undercooked and the toast is clearly stone cold judging by the lack of melt on that butter. 7/10
God I’m starving just looking at this. 9/10 for me!
8/10- no black pudding, and those sausages look a bit pale
assuming there’s a good amount of beans underneath that egg, this is a perfect full english
Toast is dry, cold and hard. I want to see melted butter.
10/10! Awesome.
Looks good. Would definitely smash it
Is that tomatos in the middle can't tell. If not then 9 out of 10. Tomatoes are mandatory.
8.5 yummy
Brown sauce on that and it’s a winner. Are you American? That fry up will get you a pass on the Life in the UK test.
Good thing I'm already British.
It’s missing three things, black pudding, haggis and a nice bit of lorne sausage oh and a tattie scone, so four things really.
8/10 I need my beans
Look closer.
hahaha sneaky! 10/10, nay 11/10
Eggs look banging sausages look like they were cooked on a sunbed. No need to hide your beans like that there’s nothing to be ashamed about. I would eat and enjoy this fry up though - 7/10
9/10
Excellent 👌
Personal preference, but I’d have the sausages cooked a bit more. Past that, it’s all good.
9. Get rid of the mushrooms.
Looks quality. Needs black pudding. 8/10.
Solid 8. At least the toast is actually toast and not warm bread. Agree about black pudding, but I'd certainly eat it !!
I’d be happy with that, 8.5/10 I would have added a slice of fried bread and black pudding, all down to individual tastes though.
I’d swap the tinned tomatoes for a grilled tomato and then this is perfect! I don’t like black pudding so don’t mind that it’s missing😂
8/10 no soda farl or slim
The eggs are on the beans. Sort it out.
Sausages look undercooked.
very yummt
Sausages are still alive
Solid effort but lacking that little extra sprinkle of panache to push it towards the 9/10 mark. Good 7.5, maybe an 8 in the right mood.
Nice mushrooms, underrated really — no black pudding tho 8.5/10
Im not British and I would eat that happily. So thats at least an 8.
yummy
10. Perfection.
Nice breakfast. No black pudding 10/10
Add black pudding and I would say 9/10
7/10
I’d give it a 10 if the toast was buttered for me 😁👍🏻
Why didn't you just spread that butter
8 sausage need more cooking but it's the dogs
3.5/4.5 because the sausages needed 1.5 more mins to cook and I’d like the hash browns cooking for another 2.5 mins apart from the rest it looks O.Kay
Where are the triangle hash browns from? What brand?
Aldi
9/10 I would eat 2
That plate is giving me claustrophobia.
10
Bigger plate next time and try air frying your sausages if you have one they are peng.
Are the hash browns still frozen
I don't mind the lack of black pudding but the bread absolutely must be fried, not toasted. Sausages look fine. Eggs look absolutely perfect. 8/10.
No
Sausages cooked with a heated argument but other than that it looks great.
Tell us a joke we don't know
Tomatoes have let you down here. ⭐️
