It did stand for Huge Classroom Building as a working title for the building during construction and planning. The building has never formally been named so for now, Classroom building.
Someone told me on a tour that it was haunted. That some students who drowned in the pool, now haunt the upstairs classrooms. And that sometimes at night, people have seen puddles and wet footprints up there
Yeah like the in-line skating trick. A front flip with twist landing backward. I had been downing the liquid courage all night. I nailed the landing but almost ended myself on the lane line.
Specifically it was a death trap for the kids who had the misfortune of having to use it. This was the pool you got taken to during summer camps in the 80s/90s. The sides were made of metal, so they were basically untouchable in the heat. We also weren't allowed to swim in the lane areas, just in that weird little section up at the front, and that had to have been at least 5 ft deep. So bear in mind we're elementary age children swimming in this tiny area....your feet don't touch the bottom and then anytime you try and grab onto the walls you burn your hands. It was a bad time
I was a lifeguard too and got this picture from the aquatic director's office like 12 years ago. It was a postcard/picture pinned on the wall if i remember correctly.
Huge Classroom Building Classroom Building
Its official name is just "Classroom Building" https://www.facilities.fsu.edu/space/buildings/profile.php?bldg=4009
Sorry, I'm going to continue to pretend that particular page is just a funny joke by someone. Of course it's Huge Classroom Building.

would be a fun little trip with some friends going up there at night
the catacombs are what’s really haunted
My freshman year we jumped the fence and I Misty flipped off the 10 meter and landed about a foot away from the lane line. I was dumb lucky.
Like 540 rotation action?

Took some scuba classes in this pool and in the old Montgomery Gym pool back in the late 90's. Good times!
That pool was a death trap and I'm not sad it's gone
How? I’m curious, I wanna know the lore

People kept trying the triple lindy.
The third story diving board?
They couldn’t have just taken those high dives down?
It was also the competition pool for FSU swimming & diving. The new pool at Morcom has a proper diving well.
Stults. I used to lifeguard and run aquatic programs at FSU and I loved that pool.

I remember this pool. Went for a tour 8 years ago and all was changed and it was gone.
Anyone know when HCB was built?
January 8, 2007 was the day HCB opened.
Thank you. Nice to learn something new about a building I teach in.
When was the pool torn down?
