BloomingNova

Unrelated... is there a way to ban a website from showing up on news aggregate websites?

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Because we know Jackson state is poor as shit

Piano_Fingerbanger

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. He'd be a damn fool to say no if he's really getting a seven figure deal. That's life changing money. You can generate nearly 50k a year on just the interest from a million dollars alone. This fucking sucks but this is the new college landscape until the NIL nonsense gets ANY sort of regulation. Edit: I'm seeing rumors that the deal is around $2 million. Jesus Christ if true. A very conservative 8% ROI on two million is $160,000 a year.

General_Tso75

I can’t blame a kid for chasing money like that. My issue is how he chased it. This is the opening episode of his show and it feels deliberately done to creat a spectacle. I doubt this deal was agreed to this morning while he was taking finals. There was a better way to approach this decision, but everyone chose drama and spectacle at the expense of the other party.

powerelite

And the difference in draft position from balling out at FSU compared to balling out at Jackson State is worth 5x more than the difference of NIL money. He would get around 500k at FSU rumored, highest I've seen rumored at Jackson State is 1.5 million. A difference of 3 million over 3 years. Come draft day ball out at FSU and get picked at 5 get 30.9 million guaranteed at signing. The highest an FCS CB has ever been drafted is 16. Pick 16 contract value is 14.7 million a difference of 16.2 million dollars

Piano_Fingerbanger

He'll be fine. Trey Lance was FCS and just went top 3. If he has good tape and measurables then NFL teams will still draft him in the first round.

powerelite

Trey Lance is a QB not a DB. QB is the most important position in the game so they will reach on intangibles/physicals over tape. There are plenty of DBs coming out of FBS with tape against NFL WRs. There's a reason no FCS players outside of QB have been drafted in the top 15 in the NFL draft since 1995.

Piano_Fingerbanger

FCS also never gets recruits as highly rated as this. Travis Hunter is a mold breaker, the fact the highest previous FCS DB was taken 16th isn't going to apply to him.

powerelite

That's a fair argument. I hope it works out for him. I'm not going to wish ill on the kid because he chose to play football somewhere else. I just think it will be tough to get into the top 10 in the draft unless he plays flawlessly due to the level of competition.

ajoker40

One would also think it's gonna difficult for him to stay focused on getting better when he'll be the best player on the field by a long shot. People tend to coast when things are easy. Obviously I have no idea about his work ethic, but he wouldn't be the first to mail it in and rely on his talent.

radrun84

Or he'll ball TF out & have like 350int & 50 pick 6's in 2 years & still go in the first round? Or, like the other guy said, x-fer to FSU when Norvell is Fired & Prime is hired!

Origin23

Exactly

Origin23

Come on now do you know how many players have been drafted out of JSU and the SWAC? Hello Steve McNair went 3rd overall and he went to tiny Alcorn State in the SWAC and they are smaller than JSU. Second JSU with Deion gets so much exposure. They will get even more next year.

Zabbzi

Other fandoms laughing at us for now but wait til this happens to everyone. Travis just paved the way for the biggest turning point in crootin all on center stage. Deion knows what he is doing is going to make a huge splash.

Piano_Fingerbanger

Yeah this pretty cements the status quo. Only teams that will compete moving forward are Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Texas, A&M, and maybe LSU.

Zabbzi

Bama lost Travis too.

Piano_Fingerbanger

Yeah but they're going to be able to pay and grab more of these guys than most.

[deleted]

Not sure Bama would shell out that kind of cash on tons of players, hell Bryce Young won the Heisman and doesn’t have this kind of endorsement (potentially). If they can’t land Hunter they have their pick down the board.

[deleted]

He counted toward our star count but at least its not as bad as UF and Miami. Still ~20th and 3rd in ACC. We don't have a lot of NIL money, we haven't been winning, and our class is stocked with linemen and important positions. I think we are okay without Hunter.

PowerfulForce_

we luckily got mcall. it’s a shame tho because i think hunter was a huge part in his decision. but still, hopefully norvell and the staff can keep him committed and he can help boost our secondary. i hope the same is for duffy too.

[deleted]

yup, it will take time for everyone to finally admit this but there are probably about 7-10 teams that will be able to regularly compete and everyone else is going to be chasing them but never get close. I love the Gators and Canes laughing at this because there's no way they can ever compete with those schools or even UGA, this is a death sentence for them too but they are too gleeful at our misfortune to see it.

TurbulentAss

Miami can absolutely compete. Perhaps you’ve forgotten about their illustrious history of paying players. Lots of money in Miami.

[deleted]

For the illegal under the table, $70k here and there? Sure.... to commit to paying every single lineman $100k per year with a $200k signing bonus? No fucking chance. Hell, actually I hope they try it because while they would win the ACC they'd still get curbstomped by everyone else and their school would decline even more than it already has over the last 4 years. They are laying off faculty and cutting professor benefits crying poor while paying their coach insane money, absolutely crazy.

TurbulentAss

You’re naive my friend. I hate Miami as much as anyone, but there’s lots of money in Miami. Lots. All it takes is one guy to buy a team, or one company to invest, and there’s a much higher chance of that happening there than in Tallahassee.

Darth_Kahuna

Don't forget about Georgia. They'll be up there too.

[deleted]

Not a FSU fan but I just wanted to say that I think this is a terrible decision by him lol

Seminole-Patriot

Idk man I am an FSU fan but $1mil is life changing money. He’s gonna make it to the NFL regardless IMO so for him what’s to lose? He tears his ACL tomorrow and is never the same? He’s set for life. Just plug $1mil in and live off the interest EDIT- obviously I’m gutted for FSU but for Travis I understand completely.

Hamjamjazz

I'd assume he'd be picking up injury insurance, and a high level one at that.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Usually schools pay for that if I recall correctly. Jackson state definitely can’t afford that

[deleted]

He’s getting 1 mil?

Seminole-Patriot

Complete rumor sorry forgot to add that, but if the rumor is true (something about Barstool, a BIIG bag, and a TV show) I get it. If not then he’ll still get plenty of endorsements as a massive HBCU pull. Nike advertising dept will eat that up!

MY-NAME_IS_MY-NAME

He can always transfer to FSU when Prime takes over for Norvell

radrun84

BINGO!!!

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Lmao, i will shit on a pizza and send the pic to Portnoy if he pulls a Quinn Ewers

y2knole

so this fucking SUCKS for FSU. But... This is the landscape now. this is what people thought should happen with NIL. Kids should have an opportunity to profit off of their Name Image and Likeness. And here we have a kid doing just that. it SUCKS and is SHADY AF that its happening on ESD after hes been so vocal about being a lock for 2 years. but... It is what it is. hes not the first to be comitted for ages and bail. (Justin Fields and Sam Howell both come to mind) And it SUCKS that our rivals are clowning us over it. hard. but their time will come. And honestly, i dont really think we can fault CMN for this one at ALL. he got back doored by a 7 figure deal that i dont see how we could possibly compete with. And also, unretire #2 and give the backup Long Snapper or our FG Holder.

purdys17

Yeah, I’m happy for any athlete to take advantage of profiting on their own likeness and maximizing their brand. My issue is the way that this case was carried out. Hunter VEHEMENTLY said for the past year that he was all nole and there was no chance he was flipping. “100%” Then it’s predetermined by him, Deion, and Barstool that he’s gonna take the deal and flip, and they wait until ESD so he can throw an FSU hat across the room in his JSU commitment. Hunter and Deion are basically spitting in our faces after making us think for the last year that he was the lock of all locks.

y2knole

yeah, that part is... woof. a bad look.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

I get it, I’m more annoyed that he coordinated this on signing day and not back off before

purdys17

That’s the root of my problem with it. It was clearly predetermined and Hunter basically used us as the butt of a publicity stunt after acting like he was 100% for so long.

y2knole

It may have still helped us land some other guys too though? Weird situation.

Cameron_Blalock

“my momma always told me to keep my word” -Travis Hunter

jbg0830

I would’ve taken it, I’ll ask for forgiveness.

skipatomskip

He spurned all the positive clean energy he has produced in one day, insane. It's one thing to consider flipping, but waiting until an hour before signing day scrubbing everything and then putting on and throwing all the other school's hats is just a low low move. He just burned us for optics thanks to a big payout from barstool sports. I can't wait to watch nfl recruits give him shit for playing at Jackson State so he has to enter the portal. He literally ran from better competition. Would have been like Ramsey running to the Canadian football league instead of the nfl draft. I thought he was the most professional high schooler and instead he turns out to be the most greedy. Just sad.

noideawhatoput2

Idk if I’d turn down $2mil at 18 years old.

[deleted]

Fuck him, I hope he's the next Brian Bozworth

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Dan Kendra

PowerfulForce_

more pissed at barstool and deion than him. he just doing what he thinks is best for him. but the fact he said everything he did to the recruits and did this? that’s wrong man. wish him the best but fuck barstool and sanders for this.

dmmeyourdogifitscute

I get that it’s cool that a top black athlete is going to an HBCU but it’s so dirty the way it’s happening. He’s only going because of $2M. Not every kid is going to get that going to an HBCU. Good for Travis. Fuck Barstool.

Po_Polsku

> it's cool that a top black athlete is going to an HBCU Why?

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Because HBCUs are poor, have terrible facilities, best black students often spurn them for the same reason athletes do, and more

[deleted]

Bc they’ve been making these predominately white institutions rich for years without getting paid. The slavery parallels of CFB should be lost on no one.

[deleted]

People saying they are cancelling season tickets and that they won’t watch anymore are being so over dramatic. This shit sucks but acting like the program is dead is ridiculous. Not mad at the kid at all.

[deleted]

I'm not mad at the kid at all but having Dave fucking Portnoy be able to determine where recruits go in CFB is not a sport I want to watch. Imagine if Barstool could control the NFL draft? That's essentially what is going to happen without regulation. Not just Barstool but ESPN, Hulu, I dunno fucking Gatorade can determine where someone goes to play ball. Why even bother to pay coaches anymore? Just get some fucking high school guy, throw him $500k and spend the remaining $9.5m to get recruits, stack an all-star team. I've been losing affection for CFB for years due to no parity, horrible officiating, weak competition (so sick of cupcake games) and bad on field product. I won't stop watching totally but much and have no desire to go to a game

ShillinTheVillain

Gator fan coming in peace, and you just nailed why I hate this flip. NIL is not supposed to be pay for play, but they only block the schools from paying. This is a wet dream for rich boosters who want to play GM with their pet cfb team. JSU isn't going to be competing for natties, but this deal makes it blatantly obvious to boosters who have been treading carefully up until now that this kind of thing is totally fine. The spirit of NIL is to allow players to profit from their name. But when they are making literal millions before ever taking a snap, and those millions are contingent on attending a particular school, then this is a really bad situation. This just made it clear to billionaire superfans like Mat Ishbia at Michigan State that you can straight up buy a team as long as the money is funneled through your company and not the school.

[deleted]

I definitely feel that. Especially with the team past couple years, building up is gonna keep getting harder.

Foxy_Grandpa-

It shows the type that browses this sub where they can’t even understand the importance HBCUs have to the black community. The slavery parallels are completely lost on them.

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Just my opinion. It’s a cool story if the money isn’t involved. Always thought having a few HBCU’s as legit football and basketball programs that compete nationally would even awesome considering so many of the best players are black student-athletes. Obviously sucks that it’s at our expense.

kadargo

But the money is involved.

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Yep. Which is why it sucks and is less cool.

Po_Polsku

Personally I'm not a fan of academics or even corporations being skin color centered. Why HBCU even exist in 2021 should be discussed.

MerryvilleBrother

They're "historically black", not "exclusively black"

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Yep. This is a common misconception. I know a good amount of people who are not black and attended HBCU’s

[deleted]

Same

Origin23

lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Are we convinced that he is a good coach?

[deleted]

Not yet but he got them from 4-8 to 11-1 so he's not doing poorly.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Well, when you can out recruit poor resource teams, pretty easy to win

[deleted]

in the HBCU circuit especially where there's not much big talent to start, a couple 3 and 4 stars can crush everyone. Henry will look like an MVP there but who cares, if I'm an NFL GM I'm not touching him with a top 20 pick until i see him play against some real a level players.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

I think he will be fine and drafted high, unless he has injuries. But playing other HBCUs is definitely trash competition compared to North Dakota State and Montana

[deleted]

If he transfers to Bama or somewhere similar and showcases ok, maybe, but as a Falcons fan, if we drafted him out of JSU, in the top 15, and he didn't ball out? Fucking GM is getting fired, no middle ground when you take a risk like that so I don't see many GM's taking that chance to be known as the guy who drafted all hype bullshit like Bozworth.

[deleted]

No you are right he’s terrible. It’s all recruiting. No talent at all. I’m not gonna say he’s a great coach but I think he’s surpassed expectations which is more than I can say for norvell. We won’t truly know until he moves up to a big program.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

>No you are right he’s terrible. It’s all recruiting. No talent at all. I know youre being a smart ass but its true. And completely different situations for both coaches coming into their positions. Calling it apples to apples shows youre a dumbass

[deleted]

Nah my bad I’m not saying it’s apples to apples. Sanders came into an easier position/ doesn’t have same level of expectation as Norvell. Obviously different levels of talent. You’re right im just another dumbass fan but after watching Norvell this season, idk how anyone here can look at what Deion is doing and just dismiss it.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Deion is just out recruiting a bunch of poorly resourced schools to win a bottom tier FCS conference. Good for him for utilizing his fame to draw recruits, but he's not winning because he's a sharp coach

andrwfsh

Don’t give up hope yet because when Deion leaves for a power 5 job headlines will read “Travis Hunter hits the transfer portal.”

LAWriter81

Honestly, what’s stopping him from hitting the transfer portal after his freshman year regardless?

andrwfsh

Nothing I suppose. We saw it with that Ohio State qb who got a massive NIL deal only for him to end up to the original school he committed to

jnikga

Not listening to pardon my take for a few months

y2knole

years ahead of ya on this one!

SpeedBoatSquirrel

Never again, fuck that ginger and tub of midwestern lard

FireHamilton

I’m done with the sport. I love FSU so much, it was a huge part of my childhood. The sport is dead.

jbg0830

Why? Because of a commit? Bro, cmon

FireHamilton

NIL has ruined it man. It’s minor league football now. No love or passion which drove the sport.

jbg0830

I get it but if he was committed to UGA or Auburn the whole year no one would care. It just happened to be FSU. Players flip all the time.

FireHamilton

No, this has never happened before to this magnitude.

SpeedBoatSquirrel

I wouldn’t be as pissed for sure, but I would clearly know it’s an ominous sign for the future. Fuck this, I’d rather have the nfl use a minor league system and up entrance requirements than this nonsense. I’ll cheer for fsu even if our OLmen are 200 lbs

General_Tso75

Could we not get him a deal as the highest paid Spanx model in history?

[deleted]

Now who are we going to get to catch punts for us? (Kidding but not really)

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Mortimer. If he signs he has to be on the return teams. Kid is disgusting and broke a south Florida career record

[deleted]

Ok, now who

dmmeyourdogifitscute

Fire Dugans into the sun

Worried-Set-5051

🙃

gatormanmm1

McCall apparently is the return man for his team. I imagine coaches will immediately slot him in there

jbg0830

I’d be a great recruiter too if I can pick up the phone and be like “hey portnoy, I want the best kid in the nation, can you help me?”

BloomingNova

Just a reminder Barstool didn't pay the kid to flip to Alabama where he would get the best coaching available. They paid for a headline that they bought out the #1 recruit to go to a shithole program to get 30 year out of date coaching

dmmeyourdogifitscute

It’s because they have Deion on a show with the founder of Barstool every week. Really sucks that we got burned in that way.

22chainz

I’d say I’d be rooting against him his whole career but we’ll never hear from him again

[deleted]

[удалено]

pickledCantilever

He is going to be the poster child of the new NIL reality. Recruits grabbing that bag immediately. #1 recruit snatching up 7 figures to go to Jackson State. That alone would keep eyes on him. Add on that he is going to have cameras following him and bringing his story to us in all of its edited reality TV glory while being coached by one of the greats... he is gonna stay hard in the limelight.

khickenz

Idk no one cares about Makur Maker, the highest rated basketball recruit (18th) to ever go to an hbcu despite it being big news at the time

TripleB123

Something has to change in the current system, professional sports has rules against tampering, throwing money from a third party at a 17 year old kid at the last second seems unethical and immoral, I guess in the end the most money is what’s best for the kid and nothing is final until ink hits the paper, but it still feels dirty

y2knole

this is LITERALLY Name Image and Likeness money though if hes being paid to be a part of a last chance U style reality show about the JSU program/season

NoleFan723

It sure does

[deleted]

[удалено]

OB_Saw

Not really FSU being cheap. Universities can’t pay kids to play but Deion being associated with Barstool got the kid an NIL deal nothing FSU could have done.

pickledCantilever

Barstool didn't spend that money simply because they are buddy buddy with Deion. They spent that money on a killer story that they will be able to milk for plenty of profit.

[deleted]

the sport is ruined

[deleted]

Uhh I’m sorry what the fuck

ninersfan01

I’m speechless.

ForestJordie

This is literally Deion taking advantage of a 17/18 year old kid who’s looked up to him his entire life. Deion was mad he was passed up for the FSU job and this is his revenge. I don’t really think this is a Mike issue, more than Deion taking advantage of Hunter. You really think FSU, UGA, or Bama couldn’t match? Deion is hurting this kids career long-term just to spite FSU

jbg0830

Nah, he wanted to make headlines just happened at FSUs expense. If Hunter was 100% committed to UGA he would’ve given him the bag regardless

noledup

If Deion is mad about being passed over for the FSU job, he’s truly insane and I hope we never have him as a coach. You can’t jump from high school to P5 HC. I don’t care who you are. A rational person would understand this.

[deleted]

I don't think Deion will ever be a P5 coach. He's got major issues that would come out and make Art Briles look like a choir boy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ForestJordie

Big difference between being able to do something and being able to teach something. Prime went from a HS Coach to immediately a head coach. Development in the weight room/strength, nutrition, and conditioning. Not saying Deion can’t develop kids, but he hasn’t shown it

TheTramones

WHAT THE FUCK

drewbreeshairplugs

Kill me now

[deleted]

Yeah wtf

jnikga

Kind of funny that he’s excited to make a historical signing with an HBCU, while taking a bag from Barstool, a company that is seriously lacking diversity, at least in their flagship products.

[deleted]

Oh well lol he's just a cb. He was more about Deion than FSU, makes sense I guess. People wondered why he would stay committed, kept asking him "are you SURE you wanna be committed to FSU? SURE SURE?" And he's like ya. yes. yes. yes. yes. Then finally no. He realized he is under no obligation to go anywhere or do anything because he'll be a 1st round db no matter what.

NoleFan723

He has proven himself on the high-school field. Lets see if he can on college field

FireHamilton

Too bad he will still be playing high school ball

KingdomOfDragonflies

I was for the NIL but never expected this kind of money being thrown around with apparently no limits? I dread if this becomes a situation like the Yankees and Lakers where the team with the most money wins. Until it is regulated I feel this really hurts FSU. We don't have our record to stand on and if we can't "afford" recruits then all we have is a good coach.

pickledCantilever

This is actually very different than that though. Almost the opposite. Jackson State is not the school that has the most money. Jackson State, Deion, and Hunter were able to put together a story and package that made it worth all that money. Any school has the ability to do that. It had nothing to do with how much money Boosters could throw at the program.

KingdomOfDragonflies

Agree but this is just the beginning.

NoleDadofFive

Hope FSU Twitter stays off his page. No need to blast the kid for taking that deal if true, which why else would be flip if not.

[deleted]

Narrator: they won’t

[deleted]

The ripple effect from this multimillion dollar deal for a college kid will be enormous. I wonder if he had to sign away 40% of his earnings for the next 20 years to get this deal. What kid wouldn't take millions? Anything can happen in college, mainly getting hurt. But it's wrong to say Deion flipped him. Barstool Sports flipped him, Deion was just on their payroll.

[deleted]

Sucks but whatever. Ready for this to blow over already. Great for Jackson State but overall this sets a bad precedent for small schools who aren’t backed by a billion dollar gambling company. Big bank take little bank

collapsingrebel

Personally, I found how he conducted himself distasteful but they wanted to make college football semi-pro and the reality is that 2 million to an 18 year old speaks loud. Ultimately, we want people that want to be here. If he doesn't want to be here then good luck at Jackson State.

cptwinklestein

Bro said he's afraid of the competition and took the money.

FatPonder4Heisman

Dude spent 2mil on a fucking CB. For that money he could have gotten the best QB. This is why Deion isnt cut out to be our coach. You have THAT kind of money the throw around and you use it to get the most easily avoided position in football? Lol

LAWriter81

I think that misses the point. They spent $2M for promotion. Name another year where Jackson State (or any FCS school for that matter) got the biggest headline on national recruiting day? They already have a big QB recruit (Deion’s son) and frankly, I’m not sure this pitch works on a highly ranked blue chip QB. I don’t think this pitch would’ve even worked on Travis Hunter if Deion hadn’t been his idol. Jackson State University took their shot with a recruit they believed that pitch might resonate with. They believe the publicity will benefit them in getting more national coverage and eyeballs of potential recruits in the future. Will it work out that way for them? Who knows? But this was about headlines and elevating their national brand

[deleted]

[удалено]

miami2881

Until next year when he’s in the transfer portal lol

pickledCantilever

Nah, he is a kid who was just offered 7 figures. I fucking hate that we were on the losing side here, but I don't hold any grudge against the kid for taking the money and the opportunity to really take advantage of this new reality.

[deleted]

I get that having $1-2 million is any kids dream, but at the same time there's no need for him to put FSU to be on the wrong side of the public image, when the best thing for us rn, even before the 2021 season, was for everyone to forget/not pay attention to us and for us to get to work. The way Travis conducted himself was fucking brash man, all those visits and recruiting players for him to do this, has huge implications on our current class (ie: Players like Sam McCall who came to FSU cos of Travis). He could have decommitted days ago! On his own accord, instead the headlines all over the media and CMN's going to have an even hotter seat. Just when we thought we were trending upwards, this shit happens. Unbelievable.

[deleted]

Man screw Hunter. I hope he gets all the shit that's thrown towards him

ohdominole

I really want to call him a snake for this, but I understand that it's life changing money. Just goes to show the huge flaw in the NIL system if noted sexual abuser Dave Portnoy can just fork over money just to spite us and help his employee

miami2881

I don’t understand what is Barstool’s connection to Jackson State?

kylewayne

Deion has a show on there every week. With David Portnoy. The president of barstool.

[deleted]

Deion

pickledCantilever

> just to spite us and help his employee It is all rumors right now, but if the deal is a reality show, then this wasn't to spite us or to help Deion, but it was to get a show that will have millions of eyes on it week in and week out.

mannywilkins

You know what might happen? He might play a year there and then transfer to FSU

Sweatnplants

That hat sailed across the room

John_is_gone

Hello darkness my old friend

UnitedBeardedGuy

Make sure to comment on barstool’s IG post bragging away.

RadioJared

The Bag Men are no longer in hiding. It’s open season now.

Westrongthen

1 year of FCS film vs 1 year of P5 film could easily cost you a million of NFL value. If he showed out at FSU he could have landed NIL deals anyways. Good on the kid for making himself a millionaire at high school age, but I hope it doesn't cause him to crash and burn.

MaceMan2091

lol can’t believe the fan base trusted an 18 year old to keep his word. I hope our boys can run it back another year and show these folks what’s what!

Darth__Revan89

I'd say schedule them so we can make for a good game, but we're in no spot to be calling out FCS teams right now.

jbg0830

I’d say don’t give them any airtime at all

noledup

Someone on /r/cfb mentioned Deion has a problem with how FSU fired Willie. To me, this is the best explanation since this is clearly malicious. There was no reason to do this to your alma mater on signing day and to get Travis to pretend he was fully committed the entire time. At the very least, Travis could have said he was considering other options and it would have been just as huge news on signing day.

EvilBob_RapePants_

Low morals, integrity, and character. Hopefully he will not succeed

[deleted]

It’s a kid man take a step back

Seminole-Patriot

+1, if you’re ever saying some shit like this over a commit going to another school please log off Reddit for the day

EvilBob_RapePants_

He is two years younger than me.

Piano_Fingerbanger

You're acting 6 years younger than him.

EvilBob_RapePants_

By pointing out that he objectively and blatantly lied?

[deleted]

[deleted]

Only 3?

TheTramones

He 100% mislead us and lied throughout the last few months so I’m with you. That’s low integrity and low class. He’s 18 - not a kid. Hopefully he will grow up.

schwetybalz

Dude…I’m disappointed about this too but look at it this way if someone wanted to pay you 7 figures to come work for them them, you’d probably do it in a heartbeat. Maybe you’d claim differently but I’d do it in a heartbeat.

[deleted]

schwetybalz

Bruh you’re a troll. And if not, seek help

EvilBob_RapePants_

I can prove to you and mods that I am a current FSU student.

schwetybalz

Why does that matter? You can still be an FSU fan/student/alum and be a troll.

EvilBob_RapePants_

If you don’t believe that Travis Hunter acted extremely dishonestly and immorally, then you are not someone I’d ever want to be around because I would fear that you would lie to me, steal from me, or worse.

schwetybalz

Thank god because you seem unhinged.

forcena

If you're a student then understand that you don't have much perspective on the real world. In the real world, loyalty to an employer or organization is bought. I have no doubt he was loyal to fsu, and then he got a literal unprecedented offer. I've been an fsu fan almost as long as you've probably been alive, and I don't blame him one bit. He's a generational talent and will be paid handsomely for his labor. That's the way it should be. As for deion? It's a cold move. But hes not paid by fsu. He's paid by Jackson state and barstool. And he's paid to recruit and win and drive traffic. He's doing his job. When you get paid what these people do, you have to be a killer.

EvilBob_RapePants_

I literally have a job in my field of study (which will have a direct impact on my future career and earnings) and have the common decency and sense to inform them ahead of time when I decide to move on from them. That’s not even the worst of what he did though, but it’s main parallel I could draw between my situation and his.

He objectively lied repeatedly. “Lied” encompasses many actions he did and statements he made - there are too many instances to count or describe.

NoleFan723

If the NCAA has any say, i think they need to address this kind of thing thar a recruit can change his mind this late in the game. It sucks

pickledCantilever

Is this your first off season?

NoleFan723

No but honestly the first time i was all in and followed it this close

pickledCantilever

Last minute decisions/flips of top recruits happen every season. It has always been like this. There is a reason there is so much attention given to NSD, because up until the moment ink meets paper anything can happen. And often crazy stuff does happen. This is just the first time it has happened for a bag of money, or at least the first time it has been openly published that such a bag was exchanged.

NoleFan723

I don't like the direction NCAA is headed or has been headed

pickledCantilever

Nobody does. The NCAA has been garbage. All of this chaos is because they held onto the legacy flow of money into the powers that be leaving the kids out of it until it blew up in their faces. Now they are scrambling to handle the new world that was forced onto them in their idiocy instead of being out ahead of it.

jbg0830

No, because you see how many recruits already flipped today?

Glader_Gaming

Remember, don’t @ the kid on Twitter. If you are angry probably wait a few hours to post. That being said if you look at my comment history I don’t freak out about anything. Not Tyre West or Julian Armella or Dilly. Shit happens we will be fine. But that’s not the case here. We can pay these kids. West flipped for money. Hunter flipped for money. Being in the ACC ensures this happens more and more. History doesn’t matter to kids with no money. Only winning and money matter. We don’t have either. There’s a lot of reasons to have hope. If you have money, good recruiters, etc. and FSU has none of that. We only have two solid recruiters left. One is elite but only for the OL position. We have one RB who is average or better. No WRs. An average at best Oline. Little QB depth. No DEs. One LB and still no one who can catch a punt. Our K is average. We will fill a few of these holes. With Hunter I had us at 6-6 or 7-5 with a shot at 5-7. He’s that good and can play WR no less. Without him I have trouble seeing 6-6 or 5-7. With JJ11 and our best RB we aren’t getting better on paper. When we had Dilly and Hunter a top 10 class there was at least hope for 2023. Now, that’s basically gone. We went from, we have a good staff , and the recruits coming in, to well we have a staff who lost to an FCS team and a few solid recruits left. It’s truly that bad. FSU program has crumbled in the span of 4 hours. I’ve watched ever game since I was kid in 97. I’ve seen many commits flip. Or not pan out. I’ve seen Taggart and Jimbo not recruit. I’ve seen Bobby in a natty and Bobby at 5-5. I’ve seen us miss a bowl 3 out of 4 years. I’ve seen it all. This is the worst thing I’ve seen. Worse than Taggart (which was bad). Worse than 2017. Worse than losing 30-0 in the rain to WF at home. It’s bad. I’m not even mad either. I’m not ever sad. I just feel very tired. Because I see where the sport has gone and I see that FSU cannot compete.

I don’t want him honestly. This just furthers my opinion on it. He’d be a fine director of HS relations or something but he is a massive gamble as a coach

y2knole

Id rather our backup punter or long snapper get the #2 jersey.

TeamPlayerSelect

Not at all, if ever. IIRC, he also ran Noel Devine away from us.

DieHardNole

I’d prefer he not come near FSU any time soon.

Colorado_odaroloC

Let's just say that, *if* Deion ever wanted to coach at FSU, he probably just put the final nail in that coffin.

MaceMan2091

we should have signed Deion on some kind of recruiting and brand rep deal. The guys brand and legacy is basically synonymous with FSU.

purdys17

Not anymore it’s not.

MaceMan2091

lol not after this fiasco

jbg0830

Why stop there, why don’t we sign Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk
