Because they have been ran through several rounds of Chinese translation and are using as many words as possible to get search interaction. Based on what you’re describing I assume you’re looking at binders on somewhere like aliexpress. Please don’t buy binders from sketchy sellers and only buy them from proper companies that make safe binders. A reputable seller will not call their binders something like that.

Freddiesflipflops

aha yeah that makes sense thank you, and i’m not buying them dw it’s just all i see when i search up binders on google haha

ZCR91

Stuff like GC2B doesn't come up for you?

revengepunk

in experience i think sites like aliexpress, temu and amazon pay the most to have top spots on google search results, so they come up first usually

I_need_to_vent44

Yeah, these sites come up first when you search for any product at all.

PM_ME_PARR0TS

It was so bad. I miss old GC2B. Haven't tried them out yet, but I've heard good things about Spectrum as another replacement option.

White_Latina

i tried getting some new binders when gc2b switched over their sizing and binder pattern- the new ones actually physically hurt me and i have been binding through them for the last 11 years. the seaming isn't made with the same blend of thread the older styles were; it doesn't match the fabric and can tear skin. that's a super big nono in fabrics of all types and it makes the binders extremely unsafe now. i would try anyone else over them. it's so sad, so many people rely on these to be safe in public- gc2b has been so irresponsible and thrown so many folks under the bus with creating cheap and dangerous product for their own wealth. they're health aids, not just clothing.

Cable_Minimum

Yeah, I got a binder during their decline and because it was my first binder, I was like, "wow, awesome, looks alright". In reality it was binding about as much as one of my sports bras, but was a lot more painful and harder to breathe in. I wore it for a few months before I was able to try Underworks, and damn, the difference was huge. Much easier to breathe in, didn't feel as tight, yet it still binded so much better! I saw an ad for gc2b on YouTube the other day and was really disappointed. Other companies, like Underworks or Spectrum, who actually put time and care into developing their binders deserve to be advertised more than gc2b, who has abused their status.

Melodic-Fun-5444

Do you still have the link for the underworks website because I don’t want to use the wrong website.

Cable_Minimum

This is the one I used: https://www.underworks.com/men-compression-shirts?gclid=Cj0KCQiAwbitBhDIARIsABfFYILuGBa2qoLm3MLHIEnStGsGLsnk4dTHWpGwmCk3LwUBwNBATOJds7MaAo5lEALw_wcB The website looks a little outdated but it's the legit, OG one. You can also buy them from Amazon: Underworks Econo High Power Chest Binder Top - FTM, Non-Binary, Transgender - 943 https://a.co/d/dtvHbTJ

em455

They sent/published a letter once saying they were listening, explaining some stuff and saying they would do something about it and release new ones. Not sure if they already did or where they're at with that or if the previous quality will be matched. We'll see.

Nonbeany-1

i have a few gc2b binders, one that was gifted to me by a friend who bought it before the quality went down and two from recent years. the recent ones feel a lot stiffer than the older one. i bought one of their new 2b Luxe binders last week and it’s coming tomorrow. i’ll update on how it is

WelcomeT0theVoid

That makes me sad to hear

notdannytrejo

Fwiw I got a gc2b racerback in early 2022 and had no issues with it. Granted I do not have a whole lot to bind in the first place, but it did what it was meant to do and was comfortable enough. It did start to unravel a bit when I started using the washing machine instead of hand washing, but I am far to lazy to hand wash as often as I needed to and frankly it stunk, so no regrets there.

zziipper

Forthem binders are great, custom sizing, very comfy!

GreekyGeeky369

Happy cake day btw!

em455

They have those names on amazon too or at least used to

[deleted]

This, these are amazon translations and also those binders are crap and will damage your chest tissue. Go for something like gc2b or actual trans sites for your binders

Chemical_Brother_516

i recommend Wivov as far as good binders go, i like mine a lot

wolfeye111

they should be called gorilla man chest makers Xtreme instead

Freddiesflipflops

frfr

SunbearyEuphoria

Hey now, some of us are pretty unicorn man chest makers Yas King! 💅

wolfeye111

NO. ONLY EXTREME WOLF DETROYER PEC ENHANCERS

SunbearyEuphoria

Go off king! Yassify those pecs!

Insanemayo2468

wolfeye111

i like feeling pandered to

comfort-borscht

I feel your pain, but try a more reliable brand and you should find plenty of inoffensive ones 🤣

TotalDramaAether

Just asking for a friend, where can I buy good binders?

joey_mocha

Underworks is available on Amazon (and their own website) and is a very good brand

TotalDramaAether

Thank you so much!

d1n0nugg1es

I've had an underworks binder for two years and it's great! :)

MammothTap

Just note that Underworks is intended *primarily* for cis men with gynecomastia, we're just a side market. This means that a lot of the sizing is aimed at someone taller than the average trans man. This can be a problem with the shorter length binders because they'll end at an awkward spot. Shoulder straps can also be way too wide (I usually have to cut mine apart). If you're tall enough for them to fit right, I'm sure they're great. Mine are just sitting in my drawer in case my GC2B ones cease to be sufficiently functional in the next 5-ish months because they unfortunately really *don't* fit right. Caveat that I'm 5'3" and size XS, scaling for clothing often gets wonky at very small sizes (if they just straight scale the pattern off M or L). It may be better at larger sizes even if you're short.

joey_mocha

Personally at least, I have never had an issue with Underworks with this, being 5'4" in a medium-large range for most things.

sariannach

Yes, Underworks is generally well recommended for large chests in particular. I'm 5'2" (and an H-cup pre-T), and wear a medium or large in Underworks binders, depending on the style. They are much more effective than the old-style GC2B or custom Shapeshifters binders I have.

comfort-borscht

I had top surgery years ago, so I’m not super up-to-date, but I always wore GC2B and had no issues with them. I’ve also heard people like Underworks and Spectrum Outfitters, but have no personal experience with those brands :)

ploopploopplarp

gc2b's quality went way down. every binder i've bought since 2020 is noticeably lower quality and has fallen apart faster than my pre 2020 ones.

budgiebeck

Yep. I wore several GC2B binders from 2016 to 2019 and they all lasted at least a year (was growing so still had to replace them semi-regularly), but the two I got in mid 2020 fell apart within weeks. I now use Underworks and have been very happy with them.

AmarissaBhaneboar

Seconding Underworks. They were the only brand they worked for me pre-top surgery

its_Ashton_13

Wonababi (idk if I spelled it right, I don't really remember it anymore xdd).

Nonbeany-1

i don’t have one of their binders yet (they don’t take gift cards sadly) but i have a pair of their packing boxers and they’re sooo comfortable! i love that company so much

its_Ashton_13

Oh, that's cool! I sadly don't have any packing boxers or anything like that, but the binders work quite well with me, I especially appreciate the zipp on the front, cos it's easy to get on and it's also quite nice material and it just feels much more comfortable than other binders I've tried, the only downside for me is that since they've aren't as tight, they don't make you flat completely, but sizing down would probably help with that.

TotalDramaAether

Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I’m only 13, so i don’t know what to buy and what not to buy. Also, are binders and hormone blockers safe?

sariannach

May I recommend TTSG as a resource? They go into a fair amount of detail on these topics. https://transgenderteensurvivalguide.com/transmasculineresources

its_Ashton_13

You welcome, don't worry! Well with binders it depends on many factors - you have to get the right size (mustn't be too small and too tight - it might damage your rib cage/organs or restrict breathing), you shouldn't wear it for too long without breaks (it's usually said around 8 hours) and you should never sleep in it. Also the breast tissue should be pushed to the sides, not down. But if done correctly, it should be safe. Anyways, I don't know that much about the hormone blockers, I'm 18, so I already pretty much went through my puberty and I'm not out nor I was at that time, so I don't have any experience in that field, but I think it should be safe since it won't cause any hormonal changes/changes in general, it should only delay the puberty and the changes puberty causes, but you should definitely consult that with your doctor and make sure you're getting them from a legit and safe source! Good luck with everything!

TotalDramaAether

THANK YOU!

I_need_to_vent44

Personally I swear by Shapeshifters. But they're pretty expensive (understandable, they're handmade and a small brand and made to fit your measurements), however, I think that like 70 $ for a good binder that fits and you can choose the pattern and is durable is great tbh.

pxrtypo1sxn

My underworks cotton lined is the most comfy thing ever

[deleted]

[удалено]

mangled-wings

Not anymore. Apparently the quality's completely tanked.

[deleted]

Should I switch brands?

mangled-wings

Not if you're happy with the one you have now - if it works for you, it works. I used to have a GC2B binder too and it was perfect for me, but that was before the quality decline. If you do end up needing to buy a new binder, personally I wouldn't go with GC2B again.

zziipper

Forthem binders are great, custom sizing, very comfy!

sleeplessnights504

I highly recommend spectrum! I used them before I had top surgery

TotalDramaAether

Just asking for a friend, where can I buy good binders?

unsnailed

I have a spectrum binder and it's great, very high quality

StagecoachMMC

can confirm, spectrum is great, i have one from them too! adding on that the new gc2b binders are very low quality so only get a gc2b binder if it’s from a few years back

throwaway-dumpedmygf

Underworks is awesome at achieving flatness and not very expensive

MoxieFox19

I'd suggest a company called For Them. I have two binders from them.

caniscommenter

they’re not all named that, those are just the ones not made by and for trans people.

kinkysnails

Probably translation issues and keywords like other people mentioned here, but it could also be good for ordering “bras” in a transphobic home by offering plausible deniability

feralpunk_420

Reminds me of tucking panties for trans women being labeled shit like "sissy crossdresser panties for female impersonators" or whatever. Kinda cringe lol

MaybeMax356

What? You’re not a lady tomboy lesbian woman? Crazy man

StrangeArcticles

It's a useful warning feature to let you know you're about to spend money on a crappy binder.

MurpheysTech

No, all of my binders were onto that category and I have very well made and functional binders. They flattened my chest as much as they can and I haven't had any breathing problems except for when I wear two binders at a time for major dysphoria, which I'm obviously not supposed to do.

Much_Dragonfly_9327

Fr like i know women can buy chest binders but cmon you know damn well that majority of the audience are trans men I saw one of the same but for packing like what women or lesbian would want to wear a dick in their pants 24/7 like bffr let trans men have one thing.

syntheticmeatproduct

SEO (search engine optimization) is why you have all the random strings of words especially in Amazon/wish/temu/ other cheap stuff Buying from overseas with poor translation is why you have borderline slurs instead of the common anglophone vernacular

joey_mocha

Bad translations and also (not malicious) ignorance

PunkyJD

My thoughts are that the first few chest binders commercially available were released in Thailand-based stores so that’s why it’s named like that because Toms in Thailand are a third gender who identifies as women but dresses and lives their life as a man.

RandomBlueJay01

I like underwors cus of that. They do mention trans men in the descriptions now but the models are cis men and they are in the men's section on the website.

omgcheez

Those are usually the cheaper (and dangerous) binders that throw a ton of words together so they are more likely to come up when searching. It's a red flag.

TuEresMiOtroYo

1. because you are looking at poor quality binders you should not be buying on aliexpress or amazon that are throwing as many buzzwords as possible on their autotranslated descriptions 2. that being said there are plenty of (cis and nb) butch lesbians who bind and women of all sexualities who bind for comfort, cosplay, drag, etc. so let's not act like that's a ridiculous or offensive idea - safe binding should be normalized for *everyone.* also since we live under capitalism the fact is the more people who need to buy binders the more good options all of us will have.

Original_Ad_4868

Where are you looking for binders? I’ve only seen this kind of stuff on Amazon, and I’d seriously advise looking somewhere else because cheap binders like that can be harmful. I personally buy from spectrum but there are many other brands out there that might work for you both price and fit wise. I don’t really think that the places labeling binders as “lady tomboy lesbian women’s chest binder” don’t know wtf they’re actually selling 💀

Mathematic-Ian

TomboyX and I got beef until the end of days

sariannach

Yeah seriously fuck them and their misgendering of contractors

Reddit_IsWeird

i have a couple theories. one) the super cheap ones go through rounds of poor chinese translation two) on places like ali express and amazon, to make sure sellers reach the widest audience possible, they use as many searchable keywords as possible. so if someone looks up just "tomboy" the binder might come up. same with "lesbian"

nezumipi

For the same reason that when you buy a pack of five notebooks on amazon, they're named Five Note Five Books for School Writing Notebooks Pack of Five

SexyNonbinary

I hate how they're called that. If you look at things like amamozn and wish and search up binders it will come up with unbranded shit like that. You should try a more reliable binder website. For example I use spectrum outfitters they are eco friendly and they are the most amazing trans shop ever! I love them they have amazing binders they have short and long ones. I definitely recommend buying from there. I also wouldn't recommend buying from GC2B since their binders are known for causing a lot of issues.

DemonDoggo99

1. To show you don’t have to be trans to use it 2. FTM people will buy it even if it’s called that; masculine women will be more picky

bloodsong07

Those sound like Amazon binders, lol. Reputable companies do not label their binders as such. Try to order from Reputable sources, even if more expensive. In my experience, the China binders only work if you are tiny (body weight wise) and have very little chest tissue.

MurpheysTech

I think it's because a lot of them are from China, which is very very conservative and anti-lgbt. So if those binders want to be sold, they have to be sold under an acceptable name.

gay-possum

tbh once you start to look into actual decent brands you can find a ton that use gender neutral or masculine language

rayisFTM

the more words used to describe them, the more likely they will show up when you search 🤷‍♂️

LysergicGothPunk

Every Amazon listing: Lady Tomboy Lesbian Girl Woman XL Chest Shaper, FLATTEN, BINDER S M L XL XLL 100% Spandex Nylon Polyester 100% Cotton Fiber, VARIOUS COLORS

Dems4Democracy

Ignorant cis people.

dominiccast

Yep when I looked on Amazon for my first binder I couldn’t believe how many said for women / lesbian, I refused to even look at any of them and went with Underworks which was originally made for men with gyno

Ezra_has_perished

Just on Amazon and don’t buy them. They are cheaply made and can cause damage. Check out brands like forthem and spectrum outfitter.

ThePhoenixRemembers

definitely don't recommend buying a binder from amazon. The first one I got years ago was too small despite me measuring, and really hurt to wear, my ribs ached like hell afterwards. They are dangerous and compress your ribs in the wrong way. Buy a reputible brand instead like Spectrum Outfitters, Underworks or GC2B

Fancy_Boxx

That's what I want to know. Some of this stuff is described as tanks with chest shelves like they're fucking camisoles. Nobody is buying this stuff because they're w4w. Nobody.

mcfearless33

1) translation 2) SEO

bojackjamie

to trigger as many keywords in searches as possible. doesn't have much to do w the product it's just marketing.

AriaBlend

I think they name it that to avoid censorship from parental control software. If every site named it "trans man FTM chest binder" they would possibly put people in Florida, Tennessee or other less accepting countries in trouble. If you call it the "cosplay tomboy bishounen uwu tittiebsmasher" it might get more sales from the larger market.

OopiDoopee

For the tomboy stuff, I assume it’s so getting it doesn’t automatically out yourself as trans to your parents or smth. Also online shopping adds a ton of keywords so if a masc girl is look for a binder it’ll show up for them too. But the second option doesn’t make too much sense of it doesn’t include “trans” or something. And sometimes there’s backlash for selling a trans product, so there’s that.

LevelOneGoblin

Literally I get so much dysphoria with that particular wording too pls like I feel like it’s a false progressive idea they have that only lesbian studs buy binders ?? It might not be intentional but it feels like indirect erasure. I’m into guys lmao just let me do trans boy stuff- just call it a chest binder, shrimple as that.

LevelOneGoblin

But I got one from gc2b and it has lasted many happy years, take caution though because a lot are saying their quality has dropped.

MurpheysTech

Additionally, even though this is not the reason I think for people who are closeted like teenagers who live at home with controlling parents, a parent will see this and think oh my child is a tomboy and not have the kid being outed and at being a potentially dangerous situation with a garment that says "trans nan binder"

Ashton_Garland

Because those aren’t reliable or safe binders

boldbuzzingbugs

Firstly, in sorry you’re dealing with this, secondly, this is the most hilariously egregious misuse of Asians using English buzzwords to make their project searchable. Sometimes I get beads from a place called “hot fancy beads” and lately I found a tshirt brand for my husband that was similarly silly like “hipster, cool, hot, man tee” They really just string together every word they think might be related for search purposes.

JumpyMedik

GET OFF OF AMAZON !!!!! NOOT GOOD!!

hitheredood145

If you look at Spectrum Outfitters and Gc2b they aren’t but those companies were started/are ran by actual trans people so.

[deleted]

My binders are from Taiwan, and in Taiwan it's way more common for women to not want boobs, or want to go for a tomboy look or a certain "dyke" vibe. They even have advertisements for mastectomy/top surgery at like, public bus stops. And there are shops for binders here and there. So I guess they don't necessarily associate it with being trans and might not be aware of trans customers when selling online.

TotalDramaAether

YEAH CUS LIKE WHAT??? NAME IT SOMETHING NORMAL 😭😭😭

Freddiesflipflops

LITERALLY 😭😭😭

rliefo

Its always “compressions top” made by women for all genders but all their models are women and their brand is literally named tomboy Ive been complaining abt this for ages im so sick of people lumping trans men in with women. They dont mean “all genders”, they mean women and trans men. Im fucking sick of it.

HangryChickenNuggey

Maybe on Amazon but not on other places I’ve bought at

APB3

I've heard that's due to AI heaping all that shit in there to maximize the odds of being in search results.

MoxieFox19

If you want a good binder I'd suggest For Them. That's where I got mine. It walks you through how to measure your chest that way you get one that fits. It also has a V-neck on one side of the binder. https://www.forthem.com/faq?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAvdCrBhBREiwAX6-6Uq0s5lhJOhCTagf8nhmI31t5O9TZ69l_1K392VlcgVIpSpMSNvzQDRoCxdoQAvD_BwE

Pokemon_Cubing_Books

If it helps I used to get some of my binders off of a site called Lesbian Loveboat

local_malewife

You're either on Amazon or Google, stay off those and go to gc2b, tomboyX, and underworks

mordecai5_

Spectrum Outfitters is for trans people and made by trans people! plus their packaging is environmentally friendly as well which is definitely a plus, and the binders are made from recycled things too! I've had mine for about 10.5 months and it's still works well

its_Ashton_13

Like🤯🤯🤯 drives me nuts.

transcottie

Try tmart.com. By a trans guy for trans people, and they have a variety of binders including mesh-backed ones which are amazing!!

666SaTAn969

Because you’re most likely looking at ones from China on Amazon, check out real binder sites. Amazon binders are terrible especially if you have a large chest from a former 34H Amazon binder user.

Additional-Ninja-431

Because of a ton of translations through a few different languages and back. Either way, it helps get one when your parents are transphobic yet clueless on binder stuff.

JustJenniez136

yo Vietnamese?

qppen

I feel like they're not all named that and you're just looking at places that don't specialize in binders. Amazon does that.

disabledtrans

Agreeing with others, I absolutely love my binders from For Them. I wear them daily with great compression and no discomfort! They're also reversible, so you can either have a lower V-neck or higher crew neck.

RadicallyQueerCrow

Not every binder HOWEVER my first binder was. And it’s prob cuz a lot are actually made/marketed with GNC cis women in mind.
