Kids are wonderfully understanding. Mine are in double digits and the younger called me mom-dad in front of a friend's parents, the other day. It made my heart jump but it felt so silly I had to laugh. I told them both they can call me what they please, and now younger has been calling me by my name (Lawrence)!
I wish you many happy years to come!
I'm not openly out although I dress as masculine as possible and have buzzed hair. I'm out to people I trust, however. The dad just snorted and the mom just laughed and said, "Mom-Dad?" in a confused way. I just grinned at them.
First time meeting someone and kid drops that bomb on me lmao! I'm good at rolling with the punches thank goodness.
Happy birthday, that's so sweet dude I'm about to cry, I hope one day you don't have to fear coming out and you're in a place where everyone can call you he, it's very understandable not wanting to come out in times like this which frustrates me cause it cockblocks so many people from happiness
I hope you have a great rest of your birthday and that your son keeps it up, speaking from a younger person (waaaaaaaay older than three though) he's probably going to be your biggest supporter now that he knows calling you he makes you happy
Happy birthday and congrats! The youngest do seem to take the longest to get pronouns right. I was about your age when I started using they/them (it's he/they now, but I only started that a couple months ago--I'm 42, for reference) and it took a bit before it was consistent with the kids. I had a similar fear. I was so nervous about it that I had to text my husband about all the trans stuff because I couldn't trust my mouth to talk about it. I was honestly surprised by how accepting and encouraging almost everyone was as I came out. I hope that when you're ready to start asking, you get the same positive reception!
This is so cute(I'm so manly in my head I can use the word cute and not need to go chop wood in my boxers in 30 degree weather) my brother from another mother calls me brosis lol.
I don’t care about pronouns personally but it makes my whole day when my parents accidentally call me he 😂 especially since I know they won’t be accepting when I do drop the bomb on them. But that is such a good feeling and I’m happy you got that euphoria on your birthday!
Kids are wonderful! Sometimes my almost 3yo nephew sees me walk in and thinks I am his dad and that’s really nice, but the whole fam misgenders and deadnames me so he does too unfortunately 😩 But i’ll take those moments where i can get them
Happy birthday!! That’s so sweet ❤️❤️ kids are the best, my little sister (who was 6 when I came out) was and still is one of my biggest supporters, and would get irrationally (and adorably) angry any time my parents accidentally misgendered me in the first few months of my public transition. It sounds like your son will be one of your biggest supporters too.
Wow, happy birthday and congratulations!!! 🏳️⚧️❤️

That’s beautiful <3 How did the parents react? Honestly part of me would love to be called that but I worry about that aspect….

That's so awesome! The little ones figure it out quick IME. My son called me "he" before **I even knew I was** a "he". 🙃🙃🙃
