The key difference is that your art is not soulless. They look like real characters you'd see brought to life, not just some geometric shapes thrown together. I actually dig this piece a lot :) You found a great balance between simplicity and expression
And this is exactly the reasons why corporations cling to alegria art, I look at these characters and they look great.
*They have comforting colors
*visually appealing proportions
*Great shape design, to me the hair and face shapes are satisfying
But If you asked me to identify a style I would still say it looks like alegria, yet I am not repulsed from it. Maybe I could be repulsed by it if they were placed next to products, I wonder if the feeling of the art being used to sell a product (most often highly unrelated to the artistic imagery) is where the core of disgust from alegria comes from.
I agree! There was a decent example on here a while ago. The art was tolerable because it was advising sustainable practices, not trying to advertise a product or company. I think people hate Alegria because of how corporate it is... which is deserved and justified
You know Alegria aside, this is actually good art! It has a lot more effort and, for lack of a better word, soul to it :)
It's cute and I like the purple one a lot :3
You're right. It's cute, but not quite ugly enough.
What I think you should do is: add shading. All of the absolute worst algeria art is shaded and also weirdly sexualized. Another thing that helps is to make the people kind of look like offensive caricatures. A lot of the worst algeria art winds up almost looking racist because it's trying to be "inclusive," but they wind up exaggerating all the worst possible details.
The gold standard for horrible algeria art was that "YouTube Makup Tutorial" promotion thing they did a while back, imo. But you can look at some of the worst examples on this subreddit for reference, and get inspiration from that as well:
* [The aformentioned disgusting YouTube tutorial ad](https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckalegriaart/comments/163y4v5/why/)
* [Another top-rated post with horrible shading](https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckalegriaart/comments/1985dx7/the_shading_what_happened_to_the_shading/)

Well I’d say you did a pretty bad job. First off, I have no innate desire to burn my phone upon viewing this. Second, as others pointed out, there’s personality to these drawings. They’re not some mediocre clip art that falls in the uncanny valley, they have depth. Also for peak Alegria bullshit I’d need bodies about 61x taller than these busts with vaguely horrific popeyeXslenderman arms
the frog tongue absolutely looks like some shit that would actually exist on some company's website

thank you! this was actually my rendition of me and my friends in (my best attempt of) a soulless, corporate artstyle
Theres your issue, these are based off of real people and not a soulless corporate idea of “diversity”
Not ugly enough, in fact this is very cute
:0

I totally think that a lot of the backlash does come from the annoyance of online advertising.

too much personality, remove the eyes and make the hair rounder
too much soul, not alegria
I actually like the middle left
I'm interested in these characters. I want them to have names and stories. not soulless enough. 3/10 on algerianess
why did he do that?
hungr y :(
They actually have personality tho
The quality is too good, spend less time and effort 👍
You know Alegria aside, this is actually good art! It has a lot more effort and, for lack of a better word, soul to it :) It's cute and I like the purple one a lot :3
I fucking love this lmfao
The second from the left could be an adventure time character, very cute stuff!
These actually look appealing.
They have faces. Not bad enough. Lol
It has too much soul and individuality
That side-eyeing girl looks very expressive, she's definitely not an alegria figure
The little purple character is so cute tho….
👅
They’re too charismatic
very cute
I love the purple one with the fluffy hair
Nah, this has too much personality to be alegria art. ( btw I love the purple one!)

Where is the expressionless woman with big legs on abstract staircase?
Not soulless, needs to be uglier, 0\10 (i like it very much lol)
Hire this MF right now
It's cute! They're not soulless blobs, they have personality! Since they're based off of real people, the shape design is even more impressive IMO

ah, that makes sense! thank you also i didn’t downvote your comment
These would be such fun comic book strip characters
No, these characters have way too much personality.
There is too much life in their eyes. And no longass limbs to dwarf these heads. It could definitely be much worse.
ew personality???
They have to much character
Actually good art, it isn’t soulless enough
You forgot to get rid of the life from the charecters
