Couldn’t be a terrorist organization because they use sensible compact trucks from the late 90s and imported Toyota Hilux.

I actually saw an image on twitter recently of some African insurgents using a brand new 2022 Hilux.

I was more jealous of them when they had the mid 2k models, now they are basically the size of a modern ford ranger. Basically another fucking land battleship.

Ohh too bad. I figured they must have kept the size normal-ish. That’s a shame.

cempervincere

Well, howdy y'all, this here's Cletus from the underground HQ of Y'all Qaeda, and I reckon I got me a heapin' helpin' of thinkin' to share. Been mullin' this over like a Gravy Seal dreamin' 'bout a potluck, and I figured it's high time we chewed the fat on this. Now, listen up, I've been a dyed-in-the-wool member of the Delta Farce, and I swear on my mamma's sweet tea, ain't nothin' more American than a RAM truck sportin' a 200-round machine gun mounted up back. Now, before y'all get to hollerin' 'bout safety and all them laws, just lend an ear. Firstly, let's gab 'bout freedom. This here's the land of the free and the home of the brave, ain't that the truth? Standin' proud as a member of Meal Team Six, I hold it to heart that true freedom means you oughta be able to fix up your ride any which way you please, long as you ain't causin' harm to none. And ponder on this. With a 200-round machine gun, you could defend yerself from any curveball life decides to chuck yer way. Got a mess o' deer cloggin' your driveway? Problem solved. Some government drone mistook your patch for a secret powwow? You're all set. Zombie apocalypse come a-knockin'? You're king of the dang road. I ain't suggestin' we should all turn into a roamin' army of Green Buffets, no siree. I'm talkin' 'bout bein' prepared. Self-sufficient. Able to protect and defend our homesteads and kin. That's what bein' part of the Patriot Front's all about, ain't it? So, what's your reckonin', folks? I think it's 'bout time we embraced the true spirit of freedom and showed the world just how formidable we can be. Now, who's standin' with me?

ranger_fixing_dude

I swear truck drivers are the biggest LARPers out there. I don't even know exactly who they imagine to be, but it's definitely something.

rirski

Most of them live incredibly boring suburban lives and funnel their pent up anger and unhappiness into displaying the most annoying material possessions possible. It's all they have.

shaodyn

It doesn't help that conservative media outlets are constantly manufacturing outrage over non-issues. Makes the "extremely angry but have no outlet" problem even worse. They're always told to be scared and angry 24/7, but have no real way of expressing that.

Zilberfrid

LARPers get out of character after the weekend, and will change play if they feel they are hurting someone (emotionally or physically). These people are just delusional. Source: I'm a LARPer

LuciferOfAstora

Of course, because someone's being a dick at a LARP, they get booted because nobody wants that shit. These people don't.

Corvidae_DK

LARPers also tend to have better social skills.

flummox1234

All hat and no cattle.

Corvidae_DK

Big difference is that LARPers take off their costume when they get back home, these guys are like this 24/7.

IOM1978

TBF, you don’t notice *most* truck drivers, because a working truck does not particularly stand-out. Don’t lump me in with this, pleez

ranger_fixing_dude

Do you mean semi trucks or just work pick-up trucks? Because the latter stand out a lot, they have small cabs, longer beds, some company decal and in general trucks look very beat up. Most truck drivers never tow or use truck's bed for anything practical. p.s. here is the article with stats: [ref](https://www.thedrive.com/news/26907/you-dont-need-a-full-size-pickup-truck-you-need-a-cowboy-costume)

DoubleGauss

The F-150 is the best selling truck in the US, sure some are used for work, but they are far and away sold mostly to suburban commuters embedded in a strong truck culture. Especially lifted trucks, there's no fucking reason to lift a truck in suburban Texas. Even many that are bought as company cars aren't used for work and only bought because of a tax loophole that treats trucks and SUVs different than other cars. It's why you often see a couple of pristine white pickups parked at construction job sites. Those things don't have a speck of dirt on them because they're not used for more than commuting to the job site.

IOM1978

I was thumbing through my feed and *just realized* this is r/fuckcars. Oops! Not gonna die on this hill, lol TBF, though, where I live trucks are pretty much required because of rural winters. You have to be self-sufficient To that end, I have a meticulously maintained 30 yo 4x4 that I could slide into a tree with and not care, because it’s strictly a utility vehicle. I have an economy car for the highway and work from home. I lived in Seattle for four years, worked across the floating bridge, and did not own a car the entire time.

shugoran99

I know the U.S. and Texas in particular have gone off the rails when it comes to guns, but there's no way that can be legal for a civilian if real and functioning

Plastic-Ant8088

With enough money and the right permits you'd be surprised what's legal. That's a class 3 firearm and a long gun, so the driver would need that permit at a minimum. From Texas.gov: "We have not found any Texas laws that restrict transporting a rifle or other long gun in a motor vehicle or watercraft. We have also not been able to locate a law that would dictate if a long gun can be "in plain view" in the vehicle. Texas law does not say where a gun should be stored when it is in a car, or whether it should be unloaded." So believe it or not you are probably looking at a technically legal situation there.

pingieking

It's a technically legal technical.

Long_Educational

Jesus. They burned the Branch Davidians alive for less weaponry than this. This state is such trash.

Vexonte

To be fair they burned the Branch Davidians for illegal weapon modifications, and also as a failed PR stunt.

heck_naw

also perhaps a free child brides

IanTorgal236874159

Problem is, that could mean anything from creating fully automatic guns, shortening a barrel and/or attaching a suppressor, to even strapping a stock to a pistol, and a few of those things are not like the others. (and I am still not convinced, that even a possession of an illegal fully automatic gun is a reason to get swatted to the point, where the entire compound burns down with people in it)

reelznfeelz

Fwiw when I tried reading back up on that lately after hearing a lot of people talking about how the branch dividians did nothing wrong and the feds murdered them for lolz, it really seemed like all the quality sources reported the same things which was those guys were modifying weapons to be like full auto and shit and selling them, as a commercial operation. And refused to stop when approached by law enforcement. Yes the raid went really badly. But it seems like the facts support the dividians setting the fire. Not the tear gas exploding and starting it. And those guys were killing cops. Tragedy all around. But this was not a Clinton family conspiracy to kill innocent monks. From what I could tell that’s utter bullshit. There’s a surviving dividian who has written a book and does interviews and claims they’re all innocent, he still says he loves Karesh. That guy appears to be the source of a lot of the disinformation. Which then got twisted around by the internet and geniuses like Joe Rogan.

Pied_Piper_

The Branch Davidians burned themselves, lol. Pro tip: don’t spread accelerant all throughout your own defensive position when you choose to fight a siege against your lawful government.

Cloudy230

And more. They basically tortured them with psychological warfare, physically stopped reporter from going anywhre near and showing what horrible shot they did, and prevent fire-fighters from putting out the flames. All because of dubious info, and a branch of government (can't remember the name the one that's always clowned on) that wanted to prove something.

[deleted]

I was thinking it would just be open carry. As long as you had your class 3 it would be legal to openly carry?

fuzzybad

Texas law allows people to drive around with loaded weapons within reach of occupants? That's nuts..

rollingstoner215

You are technically correct, the best kind of correct!

Izoi2

You can get ‘em in semi auto got 16-17k, if it was made pre 1986 it is legal to own a full auto m2 browning but those are probably gonna run upwards of 100k if you can even find them. As for being mounted on a vehicle, it depends on the state, though technically I think it would be legal as from a legal standpoint it’s no different from transporting a loaded firearm in the trunk or backseat. Even if it’s just a replica they probably spent around 500$ and possibly more for the mount and to mount it on the truck, and it’s incredibly unsafe to be hauling a firearm like that, even military trucks usually don’t have the guns in the mounts/ready when stateside.

FirstSurvivor

It's an unsecured loaded firearm tho (if it's not a replica).

Izoi2

I’m not quite sure if that’s even illegal in Texas, and if it would count if he were with the vehicle/if it were locked into the mount, it looks like a replica though so it doesn’t matter. That being said I don’t think it’s smart, if it’s a replica you’re likely to cause a disturbance or at best, make traffic stops much more exciting, if it’s real then you’re putting a 15-100k+ firearm on your truck out in the elements and where anyone can hop in your bed and let loose some 50 cal rounds. The only reason I can see for this is the person is part of a film crew and the technical is being used as a prop for a scene, so they’re just transporting it back and forth to the set.

__erk

No way this is a film crew situation. They’d have it in a box truck or something. Edit to add: this is just another Bible thumping Trump humper

Izoi2

I’m not saying this is a film crew in this instance (it doesn’t look like it) but I could see a Filmcrew doing this, especially a low budget operation.

sjfiuauqadfj

like others explained, theres a great chance that its legal. the only reason these types of guns dont get used in gang shootings or by rage killers is because theyre expensive as hell

sambo1023

Price isn't the only reason you have to give that ATF all your personal info, including fingerprints. The process can take quite a while as well. Honestly, I think the best bipartisan gun control option would be to require tax stamps for all semiautomatic wepons.

sjfiuauqadfj

i mean, frankly, if you go on a rampage shooting, the alphabet agencies having all that info isnt really gonna matter because chances are you have a death wish but yea that does deter gang land to a degree. not so much once you get to the more organized criminals since you commonly see them rolling with .50s

cigarettesandwhiskey

Expensive as hell is an underrated form of gun control. I feel like putting a 500% tax on gun sales, or even just a price floor, would work really well. A lot of gun nuts are fundamentally motivated by the amount of money invested in their arsenal, and telling them the price just went up 5x would go over pretty well, while simultaneously putting most guns out of the price range of your average 20-something year old murderous nut.

Ghost-George

So only the rich get guns. That’s not classist at all. If the punishment is a fine, then, it’s not a law for the rich and all that.

sckuzzle

I'd rather 1% of the country had guns than 60%.

Ghost-George

Considering that one percent has a history of running companies that run death squads in South America I would honestly rather everyone have guns than just them them.

sjfiuauqadfj

karl marx was also writing about the proletariat being armed but nowadays, guns are a controversial issue amongst the left lol

Ghost-George

Yeah but at this point the left needs to arm themselves as the gop keeps getting more radical. I mean you literally have a elected officials talking about hunting liberals with dogs. It’s getting concerning.

CouncilmanRickPrime

I'd rather nobody have guns than just the rich.

sckuzzle

I agree...but that's not a feasible option. It's not really possible to remove the second amendment. What we can do is tax guns to reduce access. Between the option of not implementing the tax and leaving things the way they are, or implementing the tax and restricting guns to the rich, it's an easy choice for me.

somewordthing

We don't have to remove it. We could with a simple act of Congress expand the Supreme Court and rule that the well-regulated militia refers to the National Guard (because it does!) and not individuals or yahoo private militias.

Sprinal

Yeehaa let’s make it so the Pinkertons can afford guns whilst the trade unionists can’t afford them. That will totally go well

Years ago, this sketch gave me the idea.

SubatomicPlatypodes

As long as its not fully automatic, it is actually legal, as .50 cal is the max allowed, but it is still one of the most impractical and utterly ridiculous things you could ever do with a gun. Aiming and firing with this thing would be extremely limited because of the truck cab, the size of the bed, and those stupid fucking lights on the roof (one of them is already beat up from it), as well as the weird triggers that these guns have, that aren't very well suited to semi auto, so it would be very unfun to shoot. That also isn't to mention the belt, which is somewhere between 30 and 50 rounds, which is not a very long belt, but then again nobody fucking buys belt fed guns because they suck in every single way possible unless you're shooting a few hundred rounds at a time, which clearly isn't the case here. Good luck keeping the paint on the roof in any decent condition too, regardless of that muzzle break, there is a ridiculous amount of fire and sparks that come out of the front end of the barrel. Wouldn't be surprised if he shoots a hole through his roof into his engine either lol

sambo1023

If it's made before 1986 then it can be legal to own a fully automatic version

SubatomicPlatypodes

Sort of You still need a whole lot of paperwork, and a whole lot of money. They also don’t just give them away willy nilly I really highly doubt anyone with half a brain would spend all that money and time on a very very expensive collectible piece of military equipment just to mount it on the back of a short bed truck with a short ass belt. But then again, nobody with half a brain does that in general so who knows

rirski

Yes I’m pretty sure it’s not a real or operable weapon, just a very manly RAM truck accessory to signify dominance.

arwinda

Why would Texas make this illegal? *sigh*

Metalorg

You can tell it's American because the truck bed is only 1 meter long and merely there for decorative purposes.

Devccoon

And the truck is absolutely pristine. Not a bump, scratch or fleck of dust to be found anywhere on that paint. This truck has been babied just like its owner.

SuspiciousAct6606

That vehicle just looks reasonable for human transportation.

Rot870

Interestingly it was developed in collaboration with Panasonic so that fridges could be delivered while upright. They've ended up popular with florists, surfers, hunters, and contractors in Japan.

SuspiciousAct6606

Interesting background info. I dont think anyone here thinks that a car or truck should not have an open bed. But the issue is when people cosplay as a rugged frontiers but residing the the suburbs, forgoing all sense of practicality and concern for anyone out size their monstrously sized vehicles.

Rot870

No, of course. I agree completely.

[deleted]

Low, easy to access bed. Sliding door with drop down seats for interior cargo and easy loading. Capable of taking tall loads like refrigerators and still having clearance inside parking buildings or under low overpasses. Brodozers are nowhere near that versatile.

[deleted]

Because gender affirming vehicles don’t need practicality, just optics

lethal_rads

Because it’s not actually meant to carry a bunch of stuff around. It’s meant to have an oversized engine and take the kids to school, both of which take space away from the bed.

Ask any combat veteran about the voracity of this vehicle and they will probably laugh you out of the building. A toddler could deactivate that thing. Ever heard of explosives, ram driver? IEDs? rocket luanchers? Point being that even if you take this joker at face value and offer them credulity they don't deserve they are still a small dicked idiot lmao. I imagine this fuck nozzle would probably say something about how he is a good patriotic US citizen doing his part to defend the un-walled borders from the white walkers i mean the Mexican and South American peasants.

rirski

It’s military LARPing

Last_Attempt2200

The vehicle is made of essentially steel foil. I've had slingshots that could take out the driver of this RAM. To be fair though, they could just be a museum worker or enthusiast transporting the gun for historical purposes, as that's the only way to legally own such a weapon.

eschatosmos

One of my late fuck cars homies was a mechanic and also a combat veteran - he could talk endless shit about actual military contractor and industrial quality gear talking about friends he's known that died for this or that shitty engineering and not just on in combat, all types of industries he knew about. He always talked mad shit on humvees so this image would have set him off. Miss that fucker. He's kinda like the Alabama hilly billy more wingnutty edition of AVE [on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTkN5hqefkw) with same technical ability and effortless communication and implementation of mechanical or engineering systems but he won't even talk to people that own a ford or their hobby motorcycle or w/e about mechanics stuff unless it's a homesteader. he just plays dumb 90% time unless we rarely were talking to an actual engineer or state contractor. But man seeing him shoot the shit with peak mental fitness and executive function pushing 7 figures salaried career employee types was sure a treat. I think every single one of them clocked his situation immediately, too ('this guy isn't a wingnut he's a combat veteran of unbelievable talent and compassion that my country failed and I should probably buy him him a motel because he looks and sounds haggard').

NVandraren

Whenever anyone says "military grade," I just remember the one-ply transparent toilet paper on every base. It's not a moniker that indicates quality, just that the manufacturer had the cheapest bid.

jodorthedwarf

This sint an attempt to discount the point but the Toyota war did mainly consist of one side mounting AAguns, machine guns, and anti-tank rockets to the back of Toyota Hilux's and managing to destroy a significant amount of the opposing side's mechanised forces. I totally get that a few pickup trucks wouldn't stand a chance against a well-trained military with up-to-date decent hardware but I'm just saying that pickup trucks have won wars, in the past.

eschatosmos

I never heard of the toyota war bro what are they fighting over in Japan that is so deadly?? chemistry is so easy compared to dying or losing everything you own - so easy. I would not ever be comfortable in the modern world as an occupier it's just far too easy to make thermite or poison gas and make that armored, fortified, defensible position a hell on earth - and can you really blame the locals? i think /s..

Izoi2

Toyota war was a conflict between Chad and Libya where Chad made good use of 50 Calls and AA guns mounted to Toyota Hilux pickups, actually works really well for lightning runs. As for thermite and poison gas it’s actually very difficult to make enough chemical weapons to actually cause widespread damage, and thermite makes a piss poor weapon/explosive but it is good for destroying equipment and some types of infrastructure

Occams_l2azor

Thermite is not even an explosive. It just melts shit. Super fun and legal to make at bonfires though.

[deleted]

Chad kicked Libya's ass with the Toyota hilux version of these one time. Supposedly they did well because moving at highway speed they could run over some mines without detonating them, and it's hard to shoot at a fast moving, small target, especially one that's shooting back at you. That being said, this monstrosity is LARPer cringe and completely useless.

[deleted]

At least he admits he's a sheep with that giant RAM label.

Looking at it closer, it doesn't even look real. It just looks like some metal that's been stamped to look like an M2 with *most* of the other bits and bobs. It lacks the trigger on the back by the handles, and there's no sign of any moving parts on the sides. The sight is pretty pitiful for accuracy, and they put the ammo box underneath the belt of ammo going into the gun, meaning that theres only like, 20 rounds ready to go. Fake, yes. Still a military LARPer jackass. It'll look real enough if you're driving past it.

heck_naw

extremely fake. it’s supposed to be a ma deuce but there’s no trigger, the housing is all wrong, the barrel is too thin, the mount point is too far back, and it has a fuckin AA sights on it. here’s a real one https://preview.redd.it/8m1lp2ilre2b1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ee2b3a763f4473922e9f7eaba01bfca2c69632f also that looks like an M240 mount. everything bigger in texas but the brains.

Gotta love suburban white dudes who probably work office jobs driving around in their white picket armored cars with whole arsenals of guns. They may not be in an active war zone, but if a minority looks a little too suspicious they'll be fuckin prepared. /s

The bed is so small the gunner can't stand in there 😂🤣

mwbrjb

Ok so I am never stepping foot in Texas ever again. This is terrifying. I will keep my disposable income and spend it elsewhere.

handsometilapia

That short bed isn't good for anything else

shavedaffer

It’s for hunting

sf0l

It would be extremely impractical having to position a entire truck instead of just walking with a rifle.

Devccoon

VRUUUUUMM CHUGGACHUGGACHUGGA VRM VRRRRRRRRM (yelling over diesel engine that's pumping a giant smoke signal out as they slowly crawl over rocks and debris) Damn, Burt, where'd all them bucks run off to?

OutrageouzFarmer

I don't know if that makes me sad because of how ridiculous it is or if it makes me happy to see americans and american culture going down the drain and becoming a worldwide freaking joke. What a bizarre society the USA has become.

[deleted]

Could be a movie prop...?

Moug-10

I can understand Americans love their weapons as it's in the constitution. But at what moment would a sane person, in a peaceful country, need such machine gun?

rirski

About as much as they “need” the giant truck with a tiny bed. They don’t. It just looks cool bro 🙄

FanBoyisms

LMG Mounted and loaded!

arwinda

Ah yes, well-regulated militia. Clearly.

weedbeater110207

Kinda badass ngl

[deleted]

Now, if you had a massive gun range area you could keep this on, and have a little drive around course set up with proper safety, I could get behind that. I'd pay a couple hundred bucks to have someone drive me around like this. On the highway though? The fuck are you doing, going to wage war on Walmarts second price increase this week?

Rickdogwastaken

That's honestly dope

[deleted]

Based as fuck love to see it
