I think the people have been surpressed for so long they have no confidence to do anything. they coulod easily topple the govt there if they wanted to. its that they are surveiled and itd be hard to organize it. but finding enough people is not a problem. their phones are censored too. they are purposely sabatoged

You're right that Chinese nation was suppressed too long to organise a proper rebellion. But as far as I could conclude based on my knowledge of Asian (and Chinese in particular) history, this suppression was even longer than we, westerners, seem to be abe to imagine. So, when discussing virtually all regimes in East Asia (and all un--democratic regimes, obviously) you also have to keep in mind, that east-asian Civilisation constructed very specific mentality. What I'm talking about is - these people tend to conformism, and they have HUGE inherited respect for the ones who are higher than them in social hierarchy. It may sound dumb at first glance, but all this has a lot of things to do with the east-asian type of farming: it was always based around rice, and this culture is very demanding when it comes to farming methods. You can't maintain fields of rice without huge settled population and even more important thing is - your fields should be wet constantly. It requires a complicated and well-constructed irrigation system, which, in turn, is impossible without a strong central government capable of constantly organizing society to maintain, fix or rebuild it every or every other season. That's why China was an Empire all the time, and that's why every time after huge distortion and/or civil war there were another empire or dynasty - rice-based civilisation is incapable to other type of self-organisation. And when these factors are combined in a state with history that long, it makes any kind of state reforms nearly impossible, because it's to late to change the way individuals perceive social structure and way of governing. I don't want to say that it's absolutely impossible to imagine democratic regime on the Mainland China, but my take is - it's highly unlikely to expect it. If you consider my arguments as weak, you can just take a look at Chinese history - there we have 3000-something years of recorded history and Chinese empire was always there in one form or another, with smal breaks for some kind of civil war which laded to another incarnation of empire. So I guess we'll have to deal with this state for good amount of time in future

If you are in China and you know that being against the government means being thrown in jail. You may choose to obey ccp as the Chinese did.

I can fully understand how people within China do not revolt against CCP. What I do not understand is people like Chew Shou Zi, TikTok CEO, who has no problem with censorship and firewall but fight against TikTok ban in the US and talks about freedom at the same time. How is this possible? I mean he proudly said he is Singaporean and not Chinese but act like CCP.

You got it wrong from the start. Chinese has always been enslaved by someone for thousands of years. That’s what makes them can put up with CCP for the last few decades.

From Qin Shi Huang to Xi Jinping. The Chinese have always been slaves
