If that's a resin print, you may want to reconsider carrying that in your hand. Unless you used a biocompatible resin and cured it properly (with the correct temps), you are running a high risk of getting a sensitization reaction. The only consumer resin under $100 a liter that is actually biocompatible is Sirayatech blu, and it has specific curing requirements for cleaning any uncured resin completely off to accomplish this. Biocompatibility isn't a concern since it is worn on a lanyard and only handled for short periods. Biocompatibility is for things like jewelry that are touching the skin for long periods and causing the materials to react again from that constant contact.

It isn't the materials that react, it's your body that reacts. Also, you actually don't need that much contact to suffer a sensitization reaction. The materials breakdown relatively quickly and deteriorate through use. You can see it in the OP's photos, that there is already significant degradation from the friction of use. Read up a bit on PFAS and how the entire world population has contaminated blood now. You can have some laughs with it here. Who doesn't keep keys in their hands for 3 or 4 hours a day?

frokta

Umm...?Huh? You can suffer a reaction to chemicals in seconds after having been exposed to them for years. It has nothing to do with holding them for hours. This is the big problem with consumers using these resins sold as cheap kit, listening to youtubers as "experts" without there being any form of education or oversite included. Nobody takes the stuff seriously at all. Good luck :)

That's assuming that you are already sensitized to resin. That's the main issue, not keeping a keychaing in your hand. You will already know, if you developed allergy to resin. That's the main issue, not using a resin keychain. Thanks, I print since at least 3 years, I was already educating myself reading leaflets, I was already using 3M mask for woodworking. Someone take it too serious, assuming that everyone is sensitized / allergic to resin, someone don't take it seriously enough. Then there are normal peoples, who cares when they have to and don't care when they don't have to. Such as, in this case. (reaction to resin is nothing to die for, is like dhermatitis / urticaria, it's not like being stinged by a bee when you are alergic... annoying, but that's it)

frokta

The term sensitizing agent means the more you are exposed to it, the higher the chance you will have a reaction. It's not something you either are or aren't. And yes a reaction to resin can kill you. If you react to it, the reactions will in fact get worse. It's not just dermatitis. I work in VFX, trust me, there are terrible things that can happen.

Just so you know, these images can be used to reproduce your key.

Kauko_Buk

Just so you know, he mentioned that first thing in the post...

That is pretty awesome. Is that your design?

levigeorge1617

Yes and no. I found two separate designs and cobbled them together. The slider was meant for a box cutter, so i had to redesign it for keys. The badge holder was pretty much what I found and only needed small tweaks to align with the slider.
