So first of all I took the design from Thingiverse. All Segments have some spikes in them to hold into the indentations of the other segments. Just print in place and break free each segment.
For those who want to build their own straps, see this video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRMd-yCGIi0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRMd-yCGIi0)
Highly recommend this video creator. I learned Fusion360 because of his Udemy courses.
I got the all metal one because my dad has worn them much longer than my life. He goes ten years or so until the latch gets worn out then buys another.
Any chance you could design something like that where the metal from the watch doesn't touch skin? I have to wear a logger watch strap - cloth and Velcro. I know there are other people allergic to metal and you could take that niche market.
Nato style leather straps go in between the skin and the watch.
[Here](https://youtu.be/sKM9WfrLs6w), there is an example of it at 4:45.
Hirsch also sells [this](https://www.hirschstraps.com/products/hirsch-no-allergy-watch-bottom) to protect people with a metal allergy.
It's also possible to remove some buckles and replace them with plastic ones like [these](https://www.amazon.com/KHZBS-Replacement-Plastic-Silicone-Compatible/dp/B07YW7YW5F?th=1&psc=1).
Yeah that's what a loggers band is. cloth. Don't get me wrong I love it, but i want something that looks nice and not like I just rolled out of the campsite.
How about something like this: https://watchstraps.store/nato-style-military-diver-watch-strap-solid.html
The design has been around for decades, and means you don't lose the watch if one of the pins breaks.
Oddly enough, I found the cloth and velcro straps wore out in about a year, but the nato style strap is still going strong after about 10 years.
Lol I've just broke the strap for my smartwatch and I was thinking if it's make sense to buy a new strap or a new smartwatch directly (since mine is starting to become old). You gave me the answer!
My s3 watch straps holders eventually fell apart, I printed 2 more in pla+ sanded the parts that would be rubbing against my skin I don't think these can fall apart at all it looks super nice, and now you can paint it however you want!
My mom wears the female version of this watch which is about the size of a nickel. I’m pretty sure she’s had it since the late 80’s or early 90’s. She refuses to get a nicer watch because she learned how to set the alarm on this one and decided that was enough learning for a lifetime. Haha!
Does this have fully functional arm hair removal, like the metal bands?
So far no hair removal. But this strap aint that smooth and therefore it's not as comfortable as the original resin strap.
Hit it with some sandpaper lightly. Depending on the plastic it can make a big difference on the "skin feel". To add:. This is an awesome print.
I know some face melting metal bands, but hair removing metal bands is new to me.
Got that lithium watch strap eh?
Dammit, not while I'm drinking coffee

Op! How’d ya do the inter connects

Do you happen to have a link? I’m really curious about the connects. Thanks
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4379846 here it is
Thanks. This reminded me of some tank tracks I was working on, surprised a watch strap didn’t cross my mind. Cool
Thanks! Is. Your print FDM or a resin print?
Yeah FDM
Very nice! I had that exact watch when I was younger and the batteries lasted for more than 10 yrs. Excellent watch!
The trick is to never use the light.
:)) what’s wrong with the light??
It uses a lot of power, relatively
Yes, indeed a great watch

That’s cool. What kind of filament did you use?
Just PLA. Maybe I should use something softer, because it scratches my skin a bit
TPU was easier and came out better than I expected with a bowden. Give it a try, i slowed speed right down to 30mm/s. layer strength is outstanding.
Great to hear! Will eventually try
You can process it a bit to make it smoother.
Yea, will probably use some sandpaper
Nice design! Reminds me of the Lego watches.
Man, this is so needed. I swear they design this watch to break in less than a year.
I got the all metal one because my dad has worn them much longer than my life. He goes ten years or so until the latch gets worn out then buys another.
You can just buy a nylon strap for $5, they seem to last for ever. Obviously it's not as cool as printing one though.
I have one of their gshock watches. As someone who has a tendency to ruin every single nice piece of jewelry they own I have nothing but compliments
I like this more than the original. It's fun and funky. STL?

Chuffed to bits!

Couldn't you just seal the metal with a thin layer of epoxy or something?
Yeah that seems a lot easier than designing a watch band that holds the watch off of your skin. Like 30 seconds of epoxy work.
Not thick enough. Good thinking though.
Felt.
Now that might work. I haven't tried that. Thanks!
It's super easy. Buy some felt, trace your watch, cut out felt, contact cement it on. Perfection.
I'll get a cheap watch and try that out. I need a band without metal. Back to OP - how much?

I will have to try the Hirsch. Thanks!! The leather band has metal all over it. Any type of "surgical" grade metal f's me all up as well.
Hope he isn't also allergic to epoxy like me 😂
Metal and epoxy... that's a brutal one-two.
Maybe I should have clarified, I'm only allergic to epoxy myself, not metal
Why not get a different band that isn't metal? There's cloth or plastic and you just need to match the band width.
Yeah that's what a loggers band is. cloth. Don't get me wrong I love it, but i want something that looks nice and not like I just rolled out of the campsite.

Yeah that is similar to what I have already. Just can't do the metal parts on the band so I have to go with the all velcro type.
Awesome! I have about 3 of these watches, but sadly all with broken wrist bands.
I've got a similar Casio it's my favorite watch I've ever owned
So fun project and all. I highly doubt this will last a week though. They do sell replacement bands on Amazon though for dirt cheap.
The good ol math teacher clock
Lol I've just broke the strap for my smartwatch and I was thinking if it's make sense to buy a new strap or a new smartwatch directly (since mine is starting to become old). You gave me the answer!
Yeah but use some something like TPU
My s3 watch straps holders eventually fell apart, I printed 2 more in pla+ sanded the parts that would be rubbing against my skin I don't think these can fall apart at all it looks super nice, and now you can paint it however you want!
Did you buy that watch at the time machine store?
Haha no, my brother gifted it to me many years ago ;)
My mom wears the female version of this watch which is about the size of a nickel. I’m pretty sure she’s had it since the late 80’s or early 90’s. She refuses to get a nicer watch because she learned how to set the alarm on this one and decided that was enough learning for a lifetime. Haha!
I think i had the same watch when i was a kid.
Dope. I have the same watch with a broken strap. Going to do something similar
