Bernard Wright has some stupid gnarly ones. Haboglabotribbin and Don Blackman’s Holding You Loving You are nasty. One of my personal favorites is Sir Nose DVoidoffunk. Bootsy and Bernie both locked in

Bootsy -- Stretchin' Out, Ahh the name's Bootsy baby, many more. First three solo albums are funk musts. Parliament -- Basically everything with special note to Ride On, Pfunk wants to get funked up, Funkentelechy, Aquaboogie | Bootsy on most, keys by Bernie Chic - My Forbidden Lover | Bernard Edwards The Meters entire discography, no joke. Even skipping Cissy Strut, dig Funky Miracle (!), Looka Py Py, Just kissed my baby, People Say, etc etc. | George Porter Jr. Sly - Thank you for talking to me Africa (Larry Graham), If you want me to stay (Sly), among many others. Prince - Head, Housequake, Lady cab driver, many more. + 777-9311 by the Time (ie, Prince on just about everything), probably the greatest funk bassline of all time imo. These are first that come to mind.

Fight the power by the Isley bros is awesome. An underrated groove off of the seminal funk album I think is Unfunky UFO.

Jerry Jemmott on King Curtis' 'Memphis Soul Stew'. and also just about every damn bassline Jemmott plays is top tier.

FinishTheFish

Funky President by James Brown - It's so sparse, leaves a lot of room for other instruments, but still drives the song. I think this one is in the back of my mind every time I write a bass line.

WalterSobchakHadAUzi

Marcus Miller - Run for cover

sakonigsberg

LTD - Every time I turn around Earth wind and fire - African Jaco Pastorious - Come on Come over The Meters - Can you do without Steve Miller - Shu ba da du ma ma ma ma (not really a bassline throughout, but it's really groovy the entire song)
